First yelp review-- I know, I know... I've been wanting to try this place since they opened last year, but seemed to keep holding it off. I live right around the corner from it so no more excuses! I ordered a few things to take out and sample-- not knowing what to expect. Got there on time (15 min.), and as I waited she offered me a cup of green tea. Nice touch! Everything was good and very fresh. The Dragon roll was in the spirit of the flavours for a special roll. Negitoro roll was simple, but nicely done as the green onion was chopped very fine and mixed well with the tuna. Miso soup was about average. I see they have yellowtail (hamachi) on the menu, and the assorted tempura looked great as she brought it out to some diners while I was waiting. Okay we have lived in the neighbourhood for three years now. The food has been average to slightly above average. The fish is fresh but not top notch. Prices are decent. But the service, which was never great, has fallen off to horrible. I got my meal in decent time but the person giving it to me was surly and ill mannered. I had sushi here almost once a month whenever I went for a haircut as there aren't many other restaurants in the area. The sushi rolls were always average or better than average. Today I ordered the chicken teryaki and it was terrible. Not sure what part of chicken it was as it was just covered by way too much Teryaki Sauce. It smelled like it was old or microwaved chicken. Now I've had chicken teryaki at many so many places but none of them tasted as yuk as this one. after having only a bite or two, I politely let the waitress know that the chicken was not something I would be able to have and I would appreciate it if I could order rolls as I've had them before and know they are good. She talked to the manager in the store, made a phone call and talked to someone else, came back and said: "If you'd like, our kitchen can turn this chicken into chicken teryaki rolls for you" I beg your pardon? I was very surprised and let her know that the chicken was not fresh and that it didn't matter wether the rice was on the side or wrapped around it. She said if I didn't want it and wanted to order something else I had to pay for this anyways and brought me the bill. I got up and talked to the manager. long story short, he basically accused me of wanting to take advantage even though I could literally only have two bites. Any ways, he finally said : " I'll let you go this time!" WOW....Will never set foot in that restaurant again. read more

Just moved into the building and the move was rough. We've eaten here three times in three days. Still hasn't gotten old. The spicy tuna tempura roll is amazing, and the red eye dynamite is delicious. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order, I've seen quite a few people order the sashimi and it looks incredible; huge, fresh chunks of yummy fish meat. I'm pretty sure you could make a meal out of one order, but I still have to try it for myself. Tonight we had the dinner roll bento for $12. Plenty of food and it was all very tasty and...fresh! Only complaint is that the tea cups are too small and they aren't always topped up. But tonight our server knew what we wanted to order before we even said anything to her (it wasn't even the same order as the last two days) and she had a to go box as soon as I told my boyfriend I'd need one. I think she has sonic hearing or probably is just really awesome. It's really dangerous to live so close, but really convenient too. Glad this place lives up to its name! I mean what more can you ask for, food served with a smile, well portioned, great prices, and so fresh. The mix of taste and value makes this a 4.5 star rating. Nice smallish place that was packed by 6pm, a sign of good things. Great pricing and good quality as well as flexibility in the rolls made me a happy camper. The "Burns" roll was delicious as well as an edited version of the crispy spicy salmon became a winner with some avocado! Nice mini-miso to start and decent green tea. I came here on the recommendation of the many rave reviews on Yelp. I must confess however that I wasn't really blown away. The location wasn't bad for me - just down the street from my office. The service wasn't bad either despite there really only being one waitress who also had to do cash. The ambience was all good. Very casual and comfortable. Good place for a lunch break for sure...unless you are a foodie. I ordered the tuna and salmon sashimi and kitsune udon. Both came in generous portions. The sashimi however might have been a bit less...fishy. The udon....well, to be fair, I *am* a bit particular about my noodles but it's only coz I grew up on them...anyways it was the broth. It was way too salty and lacking in real flavour. As a result, I couldn't finish and was less than satisfied. Serves me right for wandering from my usual lunch spot. read more

Maybe they had an off day when I went here but my meal was uneventful. The salmon and tuna roll were off. They weren't fresh, tasted like its been frozen and defrosted. They had 3 guys making sushi, 1 guy in the kitchen and 1 hostess/server who needs help. I saw a few groups of people leave because she couldn't clear the tables fast enough. We went here last night because of the 4.4 star reviews on google. We were extremely disappointed. We were brought different food than what we had ordered and when we corrected the server she was extremely rude and made us feel bad for wanting what we ordered. They brought out the correct food and it just wasn't good. I ended up taking it in a box because we felt bad and didn't want to eat it. Then as we were leaving she threw our receipt on the table and would not acknowledge us or make eye contact. Poor customer service and food quality. It was a bummer. read more

I live right around the corner, so Fresh has always been an easy place for me to get some quick sushi. Over the last half year or so, they have redecorated the place a bit, so I'd say it's nicer looking the average self-labeled 'take-out' place. And, most importantly, the sushi is good, fresh, and decently priced! Plus, I have to say the staff have always been super friendly. I've accidentally rolled in right before closing time twice now, and both times they've stayed open later just because of me and a friend! While Fresh is not the best place for fancy sushi or to impress some out-of-towners, it's great if you're in the need for good, affordable sushi! read more
