My roommate and I are always looking for new, exciting places to eat. Already being huge fans of sushi, we were ecstatic to hear about something very similar, yet with a twist: a classic Hawaiian dish called "poke" consisting of fresh fish, rice, vegetables, fruit, and various other toppings mixed together in a bowl. Freshe Poke has taken this idea and modernized it, making it a unique experience that everyone should try at least once. Since it is located in the Vista and my roommate and I live on campus, Freshe Poke is a short distance away, or about a five minute drive. Parking is available on the side of the building, although it is located on a very busy four-lane road. If you are coming from the opposite side of the road, like my roommate and I often are, then it can be tricky to cross the other lanes during the busier hours of the day. However, this is just a minor setback and it does not cause any harm. As mentioned before, the main component of any poke bowl is the fish. Freshe Poke prides themselves in providing the freshest fish possible, ensuring every customer that the fish they are consuming is the premium catch of the day. In fact, every ingredient at Freshe Poke is, well, fresh. This philosophy extends into all areas of our offerings." This includes everything from their toppings to their teas. They welcome everyone who comes into the store and are super helpful - the first time I visited, an employee explained the entire process of how the ordering line worked and what poke was, since it was my first time! The employees provide excellent service and are quick, efficient, and hygienic. After I finished customizing my poke, I was a bit surprised by the price (about $13 for a regular bowl with added avocado), but it made sense when I remembered that everything they provide is fresh, and the portions are rather big. Compared to any sushi restaurant, I would say you get a lot more for your money at Freshe Poke. The front of the house was very trendy and decorated nicely with pastel colors, decorative plants, and many different seating options. Everything was very clean and spacious, and it seemed like a great place to just hang out with friends and enjoy a meal without any rush. Overall, Freshe Poke has provided me with a new, unique food experience I never would have known about before. It is affordable for what you're getting, and it is much more inviting than any chain restaurant in the area. I definitely have a new place to show people when they visit me that they'll absolutely love. For the local area, Freshe Poke provides a restaurant with a different cultural aspect than any of the abundant chain restaurants located in the Vista. Perhaps people that have been dying to eat some good Hawaiian food will visit Freshe Poke, or maybe people that want to experience something new can go there as well. Since I believe it is a local business, it provides the Vista area with more unique charm and encourages people to try something they aren't used to. Overall, Freshe Poke is a unique, customizable, and incredibly trendy new place to eat and hang out. Their ingredients are always fresh and provided in large portions. This is by far the best Poke place in Columbia, the fish is very fresh, and a majority of the add ins are free unlike the other places around here. You get plenty of food for the price and the quality is top notch. During the day it can look dark on the inside but it's just the window tint, the interior is very clean and bright. The customer service here is second to none, the owner is super relaxed and very social with everyone. I'm glad to have such a high quality restaurant so close to my house. read more

Tons of fresh veggies (edamame, sweet onion, jalapeños , cilantro, avocado, etc.) to top off well-cooked brown rice. Modern, vibrant interior and quick, friendly service. Mild Asian-Hawaiian fusion. Pick your rice, your proteins and your veggies and accents or select one of their premade selections... I recommend the premade for a first time visit. You can really mess up a combination if this is a new experience to you, so adapt from one of theirs and make it your own after trying it at least once their way. You will have a much better opinion. I had two friends try to make their own and neither really enjoyed what they ordered, but they weren't really brave with the combinations either. They enjoyed the ones I had selected much more. I ordered a spicy one, but did have to ask they remove the cilantro... unfortunately, I have that defect that makes it taste like Dawn to me, but they happily obliged, so don't hesitate to ask. We really enjoy Pok'e. This was our first visit to this franchise, so we picked up a menu card at the start of the line. It gives you the options available in every section and how many choices you get without being charged extra. The food is FRESH, and the bowl we custom made was very good and FRESH. The restaurant is layed out very nice and bright. My favorite seat is the bar facing the street. The resturant does catch a lot of people in dresses and suits and ties from the neighborhood businesses, but we didn't feel out of place in blue jeans. We will be back as we do enjoy a good FRESH, not fried meal. read more
