I've been using the Fresh Lunches service for 3 years for both my kids. My kids have been giving me positive feedback about the food but I had never actually seen the food or the lunch service. I finally had a chance to be at school during lunch and saw the food and the service. They have a full service setup at our school where kids are served by servers. The ladies serving the food knew every kids name and even knew one of them had a birthday that day! I was very impressed by the quality of the food and all the sides they serve. The ladies were also all very polite and accommodating to the kids. I must say that their food quality and service way exceeded my expectations. read more

Pros: The food is good quality and there are good selections. Cons: They are very expensive. I understand that meals involving certain items, such as meat or sushi are costly. However, paying over $8.00 for two slices of cheese pizza, pasta plain or with marinara, or mac-n-cheese (to name a few) is ridiculous. They do offer fruit, veggies or side salad along with the expensive entree, but that still does not justify over $8.00 for some very basic items. read more

I don't understand all the negative reviews at all! Freshlunches has always always delivered healthy and delicious food to my daughter and her school. There are plenty of yummy/healthy choices! Miso salmon over soba noodles with edamame....fresh sushi...and sooooo many others!!! They use quality ingredients in their lunches and the price justifies it. I wish I could order their food for me! I really don't understand people saying the website is difficult to use. It is super easy and straightforward. I'm so glad I don't have to make lunches for my daughter anymore. Unreliable service. You cannot be sure your child will actually receive the meal that you ordered and paid for online. My daughter was denied her order on 2 consecutive days. I had placed the order and paid online months ago. I have four children and have been at an elementary school that has contracted with fresh lunches for years. We had a family emergency and I had to head out of town on v. short notice. I didn't have to worry about lunches for my son while I was gone or try and make his father deal with it. The entrees are diverse and I have no problem with the choices. Difficult ordering however. Agreed with another review that it is business-centered, and not centered on customers. The pairings of snacks offered are beyond frustrating. If I want to choose simple foods, every option has another food I don't want my child to be eating piggy-backed onto the snack offerings. The liquid choices have a big sugar content and masquerade as healthy fruit drinks when in fact it is a large amount of even natural fruit sugar. You can get always order bottled water and bypass the sugar concern. read more

I am pleased to report that Fresh Lunches was responsive and expanded their menu to include a more diverse selection of healthy lunch choices, particularly vegetarian options. It is expensive- almost 8 dollars for mac n cheese or pizza. Yes there is fruit and salad thrown in but they are mean with portions. The ordering system is ridiculous and favors the company not the consumer. If you miss the ordering deadline of Wednesday you will not be able to get lunches until the week following the one coming up. i.e. if you miss ordering by Wednesday March 4th, the next meal you can order is Monday March 16th! Unless you pay more as an emergency fee. And if your kid is sick you get no break unless you cancel 48 hours ahead. How on earth are you supposed to predict that? I have spent so much money on wasted food with two kids at school who inevitably fall sick within days of each other. And if you haven't ordered? Yes, your child can get food but it is charged at a higher price. The food is too complicated, not that interesting. Sometimes I get a call to say my son isn't eating it and can they give him pizza instead. I could order a whole pizza for that price. I hate this company but it is all that is on offer at our school, Echo Horizon. Hate them with a passion. Often just give up and make lunches myself but with a busy schedule I would appreciate a better service and better food. read more
