I love this place. I found it a couple years ago and booked an appointment via ZocDoc, and I've been going here ever since. They have a great online booking tool as well, that you can use to make changes to existing appointments - a nice touch that not all booking tools have. In addition to twice-yearly cleanings, I came here to get a nightguard to protect my teeth against bruxism (teeth grinding). For my nightguard, Dr. Hruskocy discussed my options beforehand and was transparent about the cost. She offered a different version of a night guard that would cost extra, and when I said I wanted a more traditional nightguard, she didn't mention it again. Then when I actually got the nightguard... I cracked one side within a month (for context, nightguards typically last at least 1-2 years depending on severity of your bruxism and consistency of use) and she made me a new one without charge. Getting an appointment to make new molds was quick and easy, and so was making an appointment to receive it and make any last-minute adjustments. She even let me keep the old one to have as an extra. When I asked what to do if I broke the new one, Dr. Hruskocy was totally transparent about the process and said they'd send it to a different lab. Cleanings range from satisfactory to great- I have sensitive teeth and though gentleness does vary a bit from hygienist to to hygienist, I've never had a bad experience with any of them. The front desk is friendly and great at their job - they check costs and see what can be covered by insurance and what FSA will cover, and every time I'm in the waiting room they strike a great balance of being on the phone with insurance companies and making sure nobody is waiting too long to check in. Speaking of wait times, I'm usually seen a little early, with the caveat that I usually book slower times like 10-11 or 1-3. Latest I've ever waited was about 10 minutes past my appointment time. I've recommended friends to Freshworks Dental and they have a great referral system - a gift card to a local business (my favorite kind of business!) or a take-home whitening tray. I just moved to Chicago and Dr. Hruskocy and her team came highly recommended from several people that I work with. Given the current climate (Covid), I had some reservations about the appointment. The office has intentionally reduced the number of daily appointments, installed air filters in every room, has temporarily discontinued polishing (given the particulate/aerosol risk), and added floor to ceiling wall dividers between all dental suites. The hygienists (and Dr. Hruskocy) are all also wearing N-95 masks under standard surgical masks and are in full gown and face shield. I also saw the receptionist clean the front door handle and counter between clients. Ingrid and Dr. Hruskocy were also wonderful. I highly recommend this facility. read more

Turns out, the dentist that I went to for 20 years did less than stellar work. That equates to turning a couple bad crowns and fillings into the kind of work that makes me smile, and I don't feel funny showing. Enter Dr. Heather Kitchens! Besides the fact that she has the coolest first name ever, she laid out a treatment plan for me that will result in no more mouth pain or embarrassment, and has been very upfront about the cost of doing business with her. They seem to have the latest technology at their fingertips, and take pictures of your mouth so you can see exactly what they are going to do. Dr. Kitchens has an amazing bedside manner. She explains everything up front, and thus far has given me different options of what to do with several issues I'm encountering. She is so gentle about everything; normally when you get a shot of novicane it hurts, she does the simplest thing to make sure it doesn't! The office staff is very nice as well. They have a t.v. in each room, or you can listen to music. I bring my iPod and plug in with their Bose headphones. The office is very close to the Irving Park Brown-Line. Unfortunately for me, I'll be here often until she fixes my issues. But, fortunately, I've found a great dentist I can highly recommend! read more

After a lot of research, I chose to visit Dr. Kitchens at Freshworks Dental when I finally worked up the courage to visit a dentist after many long years of neglecting my teeth. I am very happy with my choice, as Dr. Kitchens and her staff are kind, caring, and gentle. I would recommend her to anyone who is searching for a dentist. Dr. Kitchens explains procedures very well and is genuinely concerned about her patients, their health, and their comfort. I tend to be a nervous patient. This, coupled with a jaw problem that makes it difficult/painful to keep my mouth open for too long, can be challenging. I highly recommend Dr. Kitchens. I previously saw her at the Whole Tooth and have begun to see her at her new practice. She is very informative throughout her explanations during your exam and is very good at explaining any issues that arise. Dr. Kitchens is also conservative in her approach - which is very good as not every fix needs to be very complex or involved. Her office is mostly paperless and appointments can be made through their website which makes appointment scheduling a breeze. The technology aspect also helps when her or her staff explains things using x-rays or other information in an easy to use manner. PROS: - Incredibly kind, friendly and skilled staff. - Great location with pretty easy parking on the side streets or meter parking right in front. - Very clean and modern office with computer imaging, Cable TV to watch while waiting or during your treatment. - Both phone and online scheduling access with auto reminders and calendar updates. - They send treatment estimates and approvals out to your insurer incredibly quick, so you know exactly how much each treatment will cost out of pocket. CONS: -Not exactly the most convenient to schedule; no weekend times, and you will have an average of at least a month gap between when you schedule and when you can be seen. But hey...they are awesome, so worth the wait in my opinion. OVERALL: I never realized how sub-par all my other dentists were before coming here. Dr. Kitchens is incredibly understanding of the patient experience, and always goes above and beyond to make sure you are educated about what's going on, and that you are always comfortable. She always has a smile and is a great conversationalist if/when you are in the mood for her to talk. Most importantly, her work is flawless...the fillings I just received are completely unnoticeable, even up close-up. I highly recommend! read more

I had my first appointment at this office yesterday and I was very impressed. The staff is very polite and helpful, their website is extremely convenient. I was able to book an appointment and fill out the tedious paperwork online before I showed up at the office. When I got there all I had to do was give them a few signatures. Dr. Kitchens did a wonderful job explaining what was going on with my teeth and what she wanted to do to fix my problems. She was very gentle and always concerned for my comfort level. I felt very much at ease with her while she worked on me. This office seems big on technology, which is right up my alley. I was able to watch TV while they x-rayed me. They showed me high resolution xrays and pictures of my teeth to explain what my situation was. Dr. Kitchens recommended a few procedures to fix my issues, then handed me an iPad to show me videos on what those procedures entailed. I went to this office because of the great reviews I found online, and I have to agree with them all. From start to finish, this was a pain free experience. read more

I neglected going to the dentist for a long, long time. Embarrassingly long period of time to be honest. Luckily when I finally decided that I needed to take better care of my teeth and mouth, I happened upon Dr. Kitchens and her amazing staff at Freshworks Dental Studio. Honest but not judgmental ... funny and incredibly polite ... the entire team is an absolute pleasure and I'm lucky to have found them. They moved to a new location a year or so ago (I'm pretty sure I helped buy at least one piece of equipment considering how often I needed to go early on) and it's quite convenient from the train; parking is also not bad at all in the area. I was a little nervous when Dr. Kitchens said I needed to see a specialist for a few things before she could start taking care of my fillings and cleanings. No fear though, because it seems as though the same demeanor and philosophy she applies in her practice relates directly to her colleagues she uses for referrals; no issues at all with the periodontist I was referred to. Pretty sure I haven't written a review for quite some time because I don't want the word getting out how great everyone is here - I wanted to make sure I had access to those good appointment times! Highly recommend Freshworks Dental. Dr. Heather Hruskolly is very skilled and qknowledgeable in her field. On My first visit for a consult, I was impressed by the attentiveness of the staff from Kayla at reception and Grace the general dentistry assistant. The office and equipment is very modern. My appointment were taken on time, and that's so important for me. Copay s and insurance explained and outlined to your understanding. Dr. Hruskolly took the time to truly explain my oral health needs to an extent I've never had before. Going through the X-rays and connecting the dots. When you're older and late I life in taking the best care of your oral health its important to know how to maintaining moving forward. So from there I felt confident in coming back for scheduled work. On my second visit I had a deep cleaning and an extraction, now that's a mouthful and it went off very smoothly. Nicki who took care of my cleaning was awesome in explaining the process what to expect and made sure I was in no pain! I've had extractions before and this was the first time ever I honestly can say I didn't feel a panic attack! Heather took her time to ensure she didn't brake or damaged anything that would have made the procedure difficult. Explaining everything along the way. Most times you feel all that pressure of the pulling and stuff, your mouth hurts from being stretched. I had none of that! So this was really long review, for once I can honestly say I would highly recommend a dental group, and look forward to maintaining mine and my daughters (she too was impressed) oral Heath knowing we're in good hands. Dr. Sheffield is the best dentist I have ever been to! The office is so clean and calming. I have had several painful experiences at previous dentist and she makes sure you are comfortable the whole time. You are sitting facing a tv so you can watch while they are cleaning your teeth. Her assistant Kaitlyn was very nice and gently while helping clean my teeth. Usually I wake up the next day in pain but after seeing her my mouth was a little sore but zero pain the next day. She, also, educated me on what I could do to better help with my teeth and what toothbrush works best for me. I have been with my previous dentist for a year and a half and did not know any of the things I learned here. The place is very clean and organized, what I appreciate besides the great work on my teeth was that they don't overbook patients which makes it very easy to make an appointment. Finally her and I both agreed an oral surgeon was going to have to look at it. She got me into see one that same day 30 minutes later. She called me at home to make sure I was ok that night. Best Dentist in Chicago. Okay, okay, I admit I haven't been to every other dentist in Chicago, but I seriously doubt their ability to compete with Dr. Kitchens. First, she gives you an estimate of what things are going to cost. She works with the insurance company, she doesn't assume you have bottomless pockets. She is very aware of the financial aspect of things and really works with you because she genuinely wants to help you. Second, she's very thorough. I've never had a dentist show me my x-rays or pictures before to actually show me the cavities or problems with my teeth before Dr. Kitchens. It's pretty awesome. She checked everything, previously dentists have just had the hygenist clean my teeth, take x-rays, and they come out from the back room to tell me if I have any problems or not and maybe spend a few minutes with me. Dr. Kitchens was 100% hands on the whole time, she did everything herself and talked about it as she did it so I knew what was going on. Third, she's gentle. I didn't have anything that would have caused me pain, but she was very careful to make sure I was comfortable and nothing was hurting, unlike other dentists who jab and poke without any regard for whether you're in agony. Fourth, she really looks at the big picture: what it's going to take to get your mouth healthy and keep it that way. My husband needs extensive work and previous dentists have flat out refused to even clean his teeth, Dr. Kitchens has worked out a plan of attack for him, there was never any question of whether she would clean them or not - she did so gently and did a great job of it because she honestly cares about her patient's dental health. Imagine that! Fifth, the FreshWorks office is really nice. The equipment is all new and you can watch TV while getting your teeth cleaned if you want to. Sixth, when needing emergency care for an infected tooth I called around a few different places after reading some yelp reviews and seeing who took our insurance. Most places couldn't get my husband in for a week, sometimes 2. Dr. Kitchens had him in her office within 24 hours of my call, and that is pretty fabulous. And no, we didn't get some excessively large "emergency care" bill, and that was super fabulous. So, I give her 5 stars. She's a great dentist AND she cares about her patients, what more could you ask for? read more

I am only in Chicago for the summer and after reading all of the pleasant reviews on Yelp, I decided to go to Freshworks for my sever tooth ache. Kaela, the receptionist, was very knowledgeable and got me an appointment right away. She answered all of my questions. She is very knowledgeable about insurance and explained my out of state coverage to me. I saw Dr. Sara Sheffield and I was very impressed. She explained everything to me clearly and made sure that I understood what the issue was and what could be causing it. She spoke to me like an adult (I am 21) and that was very important to me. I was pretty upset that I needed a root canal but she was very calming and assuring. I knew that she would take care of me. She refereed to me Benson Endodontics and Kaela called and got me an appointment for that day. The office was very clean and new and there were TVs in all of the exam rooms. For being in a bad situation, Freshworks really helped me out and made the experience easy. read more
