I was searching for hours in South Coast Plaza mall looking for a specific style tie. I even lucked out going to all of the department stores in SCP and into all of the other men fashion stores. I had my last hope and looked on yelp on where to go next to find the item I needed and came across Friar Tux. Luckily for me, this was part of South Coast Plaza and I was able to find exactly what I needed. I did not have an appointment as I did not know that they were taking appointments, but the employees still helped me immediately. They were extremely caring and thoughtful and helped me out although they were busy with others. Update: On the day of prom (5/29), we didn't see any dress socks as promised. No big deal. But the white shirt didn't seem like the fine one we tried on initially. So I don't know. Had to schedule my boyfriends appointment for a business trip suit he needed and the whole process was easy and excellent. They had in stock what I picked out online even down to his size 15 shoes. He looked phenomenal and was able to return the suit back to a different location which was convenient to him while working! Edit: I need to update this because I rented a tux for a second time just this past week. Ian and Jesse were an absolute delight to deal with and the tux fit me like a glove. They made me look like 1 million bucks for an event where the illusion of perfection was expected. Then, later on when I needed to work out some logistics with Damien, the manager, he delivered some of the most exemplary customer service I have ever experienced. As a property manager who has managed luxury apartment complexes in the South Coast Metro area for the past 21 years, my standard for customer service is a level that is only attainable by those born with the gift of being of service to others. if you could take what Damien has and bottle it, you would be richer than Jeff Bezos. His ability to navigate customer care is something that simply cannot be taught. Because of my experience with Damian and Marcos, and the rest of the team, this specific location will be the one and only destination I will ever seek help from when I need to look my very best and then some. Edit: I initial gave only one star but I added a star because their corporate office made a genuine effort to make up for their short comings including retraining some of their staff. Below is the original review. Truly terrible experience. They got almost all of the orders wrong. Whatever you do, do not go to this place. If you do, make sure you check everything very carefully. Errors on the bill, errors in the order, errors when scheduling. I wanted to pay for my groomsmen and father-in-law's suits. We explained this to them multiple times and multiple times, my groomsmen and father-in-law were asked to pay. They pressured us not to review the final bill. When we didn't cave the pressure, we did see incorrect charges. They set our return date to a day that they were closed. We had to call them multiple times on our honeymoon to straighten out their mistakes. They have a tendency to say "sure no problem" to a request but then they don't actually make any changes. You'll come back next time or call and they don't have your appointment, the jacket you requested, etc. read more

I forget the gals name who helped me but she was amazing. She was very kind and gave me good guidance when asking her questions. My groomsmen loved their suits and had no problems getting fitted and picking them up. With 9 groomsmen in different cities I was able to keep tabs via their website to see who paid and got fitted. I have never been to a Tux store before but winter formal is coming for my son and I had been looking on Yelp for an excellent place to go. Friar Tux reviews were very good so I called to get some information from Erik and the prices and packages sounded great for high school students so we went there yesterday morning. Johan approached us and he was very professional and helpful since we were newbies. I really liked his chill demeanor and he asked us questions to better be able to assist us. After the measuring, he took time to assist my son in trying on the suit, pants, vest and shoes for fitting. My heart just melted in seeing how handsome my son looked. It is one of those parent moments that is hard to describe but having Johan helping us and his patience, it made for a wonderfully positive experience. The quality of the tux, shirt and shoes was top notch. A package deal including jacket, pants, shirt, vest, cuffs and patent shoes was excellent! A small deposit was required and pick up will be 4 days before event in case there are some adjustments to be made. The customer service, pricing and quality is highly recommened and we will continue to do business with them for future activities. Come here first before you go anywhere else! read more

Eric (the district manger), provided excellent service and attention to detail. About 15 minutes into the fitting, Eric had to be pulled away for a call and JAVIER the store manager stepped right in to take his place without even missing a beat! Javier is super personable and has great fashion sense, I felt comfortable with his suggestions and input.
