stay away!!!!! 1 person, with 5 people waiting, after making an appointment. my sons's rented tux had wrong shoes. I purchased a suite, although a professional measured me, they were non hemmed. I had to give our local dry cleaner a $50 tip to help me. My professionally measured shirt, totaly wrong. I am so glad I decided to go here for my tux. I went in without knowing exactly what I wanted or needed for my wedding for me and my groomsmen. Cameron was so helpful and patient with us. After the wedding my husband and I went back to Friars to return his rentals. We were nicely greeted by a gentleman who helped us rather quickly. While helping us he said he was very sorry about our experience with the mishap and offered my husband a free rental for our next occasion. The rental was a high quality suit and looked really nice. I could tell by the sincerely of the store associate that he really was sorry about our first experience and truly cared about us coming back. Very happy with my experience. Went there to rent tuxedo for my high school son for his homecoming dance. Dalton was very helpful in explaining things to us. There were 3 employees in the store at the moment. They all seem to be very efficient and nice. Will definitely come back for future needs. P.s. But Connor was AMAZING, we told him the situation and explained we needed to get out of there quickly, he said he understood and got my husband fitted and ready to go within 15 minutes. OMG this place sucks! Where do I start? The parking lot only holds like 9 cars, so if it's busy you're hosed. We waited 1 & 1/2 hours for a fitting. Then over 1 hour when we picked up the tux because the pants were too short. Then when we went to return it on Sunday they didn't open the doors until 11:15 (supposed to open at 11). HUGE line (we were there at 10:50 and waited. Only opened one door of the shop so all the people on one side got screwed. They should at least put up a sign saying to wait on other side for entering. Return process took 29 minutes. THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE. So many formal wear choices in San Diego--no need to torture yourself here. They may do a great job of marketing but the operation is half-ass. read more

This is a little late. I was just to angry before. My son got married about 4 months ago. My son's dad and the brides father went into Friar Tux in La Mesa, the person behind the counter measured them and put all the information on a form. They were given a date to come back in for final measurements. They went in that day and were told they had never ordered the Tuxes. It was figured out that the person that helped them was new (and the person she was shadowing was not paying attention) so she never sent the order in. We were told that they could not get the same tuxedos before the wedding (keep in mind we spent thousands on the entire formal wedding party's tuxedos). We were given no compensation for the fact that we had to go out and BUY tuxedos from another store ($200 each). We had several people contact Friar Tux in La Mesa and their corporate offices, and they told us there was nothing they could do for us. Nothing!! We also had to fight with them to get the money back that we originally paid for the tuxedos that they never ordered!! I just want to WARN others.... THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER TUX SHOPS!!! PICK A DIFFERENT ONE!! One that is respectful of their customers. read more

The groomsmen got fitted in Linda vista location, but picked up at this location. Multiple people had fitment issues. My suit had numerous issues. Pants too short, waist too big, shirt did not fit. They lengthened the pants while I waited. I had to wear my own shirt from one of my other suits, but the entire event, my pants were falling out below the belt. It was not only embarrassing, but very uncomfortable. I would leave 1 star, but was partially compensated upon return for all the issues. I am kind of picky with my suits, but what's the point of being fitted first if they can't get the size right?? read more

Though my husband and I thought we had the worst luck in the world (everytime we went in to see Nate...3x I think... there was either a system crash or he was the only one there with a massive line! But, the reason I'm going out of my way to give a review(hardly ever do) is because she helped me when I really needed it. Went in yesterday (4/8/23) at 11am for an initial fitting. It was extremely busy and crowded (it's a small location), and there were 2 employees working: Cale R. and Marc W. It did take a while until they were able to help me, but I can't complain because I was greeted timely and they were clearly doing the best they can to help customers (apparently there was supposed to be a third person working, but that person was a no show). They both acknowledged and apologized to everyone for the wait and thanked us all for being patient. I was helped by Cale who was very efficient and professional. The communication and teamwork between Cale and Marc was at its best as they did everything they could to help everyone as quickly and professionally as possible. While a customer was in a fitting room, one of them would ask the other if they needed help with anything like entering info or grabbing anything for them from the back room. Throughout my experience, they were both patient, apologetic, and thankful for everyone in the shop. I'll be picking up my suit on 5/1 and hope to see them again. read more

At 1st I thought this place was going to be great they helped me out as good as they could and gave me the instructions to return it and everything which went fine. I returned the suit as they asked 98% of the items were in the bag and I handed the worker a tie That I forgot to put in the bag she just grabbed the stuff and threw it in their office real quick without giving me a receipt which seemedUnprofessional they said they would email it to me it took over a month and now they are charging me for a tie they said that I had never returned I called their customer service and they said that it was too late there to charge me for it so I just had to deal with it.They told me that their store manager would give me a call back but I returned this suit over a month ago and in within those 30 days no one ever called me and asked me about a tie that I did not have. I returned the suit in my opinion this is just poor quality service and I will never rent there or nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone. read more

My son is the ring bearer in an upcoming wedding. Was told to go in as soon as possible to have him fitted. With three kids, school, sports and life in general not a bunch of free time. Drove from Lakeside and arrived at 4:35pm. Parking lot was packed. Walk inside and asked around to see if everyone was being helped which they were. I stand over by the fitting area to ensure we are helped next. A few minutes later a lady and a small boy walk in from the other side of the building and stand by the counter. Then another gentleman in a pink shirt comes in. After about 15 minutes of waiting Nate tells the lady that she's next and then comments they need to get a list going and proceeds to ask for the guys name in the pink shirt. I speak up and say, "Oh we are actually next. We came in from this side over here and have been waiting." He looks at me annoyed and asks for my name. After assisting the other customers who were being helped upon our arrival they come and take the lady and her little boy back. Ok.....maybe since he's trying something that's already been ordered they're having him get dressed to make sure it's going to fit and assist us while that's happening? Nope Nate comes to the counter and calls the guy in the pink shirt up to assist him! What on earth? That is so completely rude and unprofessional. First of all you should be paying attention to who's walking in and out of your store and greeting every customer. But when someone literally speaks up to let you know they're actually next in line you're just going to ignore that and help other people? Instead of causing a scene I asked for the managers business card and called the store back to get Nate's name. So after being there for 30 minutes waiting, not being acknowledged, nor assisted in the order we arrived I had to leave to get my daughter to soccer practice across town. read more
