AVOID AT ALL COST. Terrible customer service, they ignore new customers and serve regulars first. The employees play LOUD obnoxious music and ignore request to turn down music when we asked politely. We ordered a sandwitch , and found 2 (two) long hairs in it. When we asked the Deli worker (who had long hair and no hair net) to remake our sandwitch - he simply removed the hairs and reserved us the same plate. Grocery store is neglected, and the shelves are empty. Employees walk around doing nothing, most of the time they gather in the rear of the store and have 30 minute smoke breaks. Deli manager is a rude soul that projects inner issues upon the customers. To conclude - most of the employees hate their job, and project terrible attitude upon the customers. Let me say one positive thing to balance this review. They do have a nice patio with a box full of toys for kids to play with. But, the kids run amok with no parental control and create a uncomfortable dining experience. The owner needs to fire everyone and find a experienced service industry crew. read more

I love this market. A lot of great produce and great beer and wine selection. The reason for 2 stars is because the cashiers have been quite rude the last few times I shopped there. They ignore you and act like it a hassle to answer your questions or help you find a product. I think a neighborhood market should have friendly staff. I think whoever is the manager or the owner hires family or friends. That seems like the only reason some of the employees still have jobs. Look at the other reviews. I held my 65th birthday/retirement party at the Friendly Street Market​'s cafe this past weekend and I just want to thank the owners, manager and staff for their efforts. I had only asked for a couple of tables to be shoved together and a "reserved" sign stuck on them. What greeted me when I arrived was a beautiful sight: a long table set-up that included living plants and candle lanterns as decoration, various platters of tasty food and everything needed for a successful party. Cafe staff was attentive to our needs throughout the event, especially Mark, the manager. My guests, my family and I all had a great time and hope to be back to celebrate other occasions at the cafe. I am a long term and loyal customer. I love you guys. It hurts my heart to give such a low rating. The market itself has great produce friendly staff and good selection. My only beef is the Deli. I'm the type of person that will give you three chances. I just think that sometime people have off days. I gave the deli three chances and every time it took 25 minutes plus to get my sandwich and twice the order was wrong. Also the people in the deli seem like they don't want to work. A little girl was in line waiting patiently in line to get ice cream the first server said he doesn't do ice cream then the second server loudly exclaimed i guess i'm on ice cream today. Friendly street market has grumpy ice cream servers! I went there and asked for red wagon ice cream, that they were advertised, and they said they don't carry it. Then I asked what the most popular flavor is and they said they don't eat ice cream. It was very snooty. Then all that was left for me to ask was what ice cream do you serve. They didn't even know. Then I had to get coconut bliss ice cream for over priced prices. They were rude! I don't like to go there any more because they're snooty. I like to eat ice cream every day and it makes me rage when they don't serve me ice cream correctly! Humffff! read more

This a great store and place to hangout, especially on a warm evening. They do have winter outdoor seating, with heaters and wind protection. They always have good beer on tap. I have really been impressed with their soups. read more

Super funky place with lots of Eugene-hippie type products for the natural human. I like the vibe in the store, and the staff was friendly and professional. I'll return to shop again when I need some unique natural products that I can't find in conventional stores. read more

FSM is a awesome place to shop for a few items in the pinch. If not be be prepared to pay though the nose.

Always request your receipt! I got charged for an extra sandwich and when I went back up to the counter, the cashier did not believe he had charged my card that amount and said that I needed to have my receipt (I purchased our food 2 minutes before I went up to inquire about the incorrect charge). I am not sure why he could not check the merchant receipt which I had just signed. It was not until it posted on my account did I have verification. Probably an honest mistake, but a bit unsettling. Unfortunately I have to agree with Brad; I go in expecting the prices to be a bit higher for a small market, but I I also feel like some of the staff are total snobs. I went in yesterday, and a comment was made to the customer behind me about me using "credit" instead of debit--I was exhausted and couldn't remember my pin. Went in tonight, and the guy working was very obviously put out that he had to cash me out. I LOVE your market and have lived in FAN for 3 years and have had many experiences like this. Friendly Street Market is a staple in our neighborhood and my family used to have made-to-order sandwiches here weekly (THE best made to order sandwiches in town, especially a great deal for us gluten intolerant folk). I was very sad to see made-to-order sandwiches replaced with grab and go. While this may be a nice option for busy people in a hurry, it doesn't accomodate the needs of a family sit-down meal. Our routine is to order a sandwich, buy a drink, sip, listen to music, have the little one play with toys in the generous bin, then eat our sandwiches with yummy sides. The service is always incredibly friendly and prompt. We appreciate that the parking lot is small and the store is small, it is only right... cosy, comfortable and complete. We like to pay a little extra for the finest foods our area has to offer. Please bring back those made-to-order sandwiches, nothing in a fridge can even come close!! read more
