Great breakfast at a good value. They have a really good set of non-traditional breakfast specials to keep things interesting. The biscuits and gravy are quite yummy- not too flour laden, a lot of sausage in the gravy, and not overly spicy. Just right with a side of sausage. We had an unfortunate tantrum with my disabled child. She threw her plate and silverware in frustration. They handled this so well and prepared her another breakfast without being asked. My girlfriend and I had lunch here on a Saturday. I had a chicken caesar salad, she had a tuna melt. Both dishes were well portioned and prepared as you would expect for diner food. The real shining star though, was the soup. My girlfriend had the cheese soup, and I, the roasted red pepper. Both were fantastic. The staff was friendly and responsive. The decor was adequate. One item that would increase my rating would be to remove the paper signs at every table that ask you to pay with cash instead of card. Like many consumers today, I do not carry much cash, and those signs make you feel awkward to present your card for payment. I'd prefer they remove the signs and absorb the few cents per item it costs to accept cards, into their pricing. read more

They literally have all my favorites. I was looking for a replacement for The Eggcellent Cafe (The Egg and I) after it closed down, but I wasn't expecting to find something better. Waffles with strawberries and bananas. Great omelettes. Awesome oatmeal and grits. I've found my new favorite breakfast. This restaurant has charm. It is decorated with a homey coastal theme. We had breakfast Saturday morning and it was busy. There are booths and tables to choose from. The service was excellent and all the staff was friendly. We were treated as if we were VIP's. Very refreshing. My husband ordered omelet with cheese and vegetables. It came with corned beef hash, grits, and instead of toast he asked for biscuits and gravy. I ordered 2 fried eggs with corned beef, sliced tomatoes, and corned beef. The food arrived promptly. The portions are huge! The omelette was made with 3 or 4 eggs. The grits and biscuits with gravy was good. The corned beef hash was not good. It obviously came out of a can and fried on the cook top. My husband took home half of his breakfast and ate it the next day. My eggs were cooked more medium than over easy. The tomatoes were fresh and the rye toast tasty. Again, the hash was poor.The coffee was good and refilled often. Our bill came to 20.00 and change without tip. There are less pricey options on the menu. We felt it was a decent value due to the huge portions. Overall we had a pleasant experience and will definitely try it again, sans the hash. read more

This was our first time coming here. The food was average. The waitstaff was very friendly. I had bacon and eggs and French toast. The bacon was on the salty side and not the best quality. My husband had that cheeseburger. It was fresh however the meet was not very good quality so it was a little greasy. read more

I guess it depends on the day you go though. I've had nothing but a good experience until today. For $16 getting a country fried steak and a half order of biscuits and gravy to go I'd expect at least a little more effort from the cook. My over medium eggs were very clearly over hard. My to go food was just thrown in the to go container to where half my over cooked country fried steak was covered in gravy because the eggs covered the other half. I even heard other customers talking about their food being over cooked as well. I've only gotten breakfast from there on the weekends and after today it will stay that way. read more

This is an average breakfast and lunch restaurant. I will say some of your benedict is really good. The coffee i thought was quiet stout, and the service was lacking a little. I waited more than ten minutes to get a refill but the biggest thing that turned me off was the stupid sign on the table about the credit card cash deal. Are you serious? That is extremely tacky. So if no one has the cash we go to your atm and get cash out and we get charged for it. NOT GOOD!! Get rid of the sign, this is the only restaurant that ive ever seen this in my life. I recommend the vegetarian omelet and add asparagus! And I also love that the owner was willing to donate GC's to the BOOTY RUN 5K for Colon Cancer Awareness to benefit our local charity (Cancer Care Foundation.) and I like to patronize these places that do give back to our community. So when I decided to give this place a try and found it to be clean, waitress to be friendly and my service to fantastic. Food came out HOT and I enjoyed it! The day after Hurricane Irma my husband and I set out from Satellite Beach in search of food. Upon driving passed The Friendly Toast, we noticed there were cars in the parking lot and the door was opened. We were greeted by a lady who welcomed us inside and said, "Come on in. We have no power but our stove is gas and we have hot coffee and a simple breakfast." We sat down while more and more people came inside. I overheard the owner as she hustled to serve us all say, "I'm not even really opened; I just want to feed everyone who is hungry and without power." Our eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, coffee and O.J. were delicious. While I'm not surprised, as we eat there frequently, it was the day after a major hurricane crushed many parts of our community and great state. When it was time to pay our bill we were told, "We are just here to help people; leave whatever you can." That is the true spirit of service to our community. This is a great place to have breakfast. If you're from the Philly/Jersey/NY area, you know that much of Florida lacks the type of diners you grew up with. The small neighborhood diner that you could always rely on to get a great breakfast or lunch, served by nice people in a very. appealing setting. In the Melbourne area, once you discover the Friendly Toast Cafe, your search will be ended - pleasantly. This place serves excellent omelette and eggs Benedict. Their burgers are quite good also. The waitresses are always nice and friendly. Your coffee is checked for refills frequently. The only thing missing is the availability of side orders of scrapple. If they start serving scrapple and advertise it, the considerable local contingent of ex Philadelphians and Jerseyites will fill the diner to capacity. This has become one of our favorite places! The eggs benedict are awesome. My husband and kids get them most of the time. My favorite has become the country fried steak and eggs with the rye toast. The steak is more tender here than any other restaurant that I have had it at and they are consistent, which in the Melbourne/Palm Bay area is difficult to find. This is my favorite breakfast place for friendly fast service and amazing rye toast. I am never disappointed with my breakfast whether I get the two egg special , pancakes or eggs benie with avocado. They have a great selection of food and you can't beat their prices for this area for what you get. I've gone to several other breakfast establishments that serve very similar items for more and the food isn't as good. This family owned restaurant is the place to go. read more

The prices are reasonable, service is great and the food is even better. I always leave full with leftovers. The Friendly Toast Café 2 people were just what the name says. FRENDLY, my order was exactly the way I wanted it. The prices were reasonable. The food was fresh, I highly recommend The Friendly Toast Café 2. I ordered the meatloaf, homemade I must add. real mashed potatoes and gravy. I have never had a bad meal there. This is one nasty restaurant. They serve canned sausage gravy and don't even bother heating it properly. Their sausages are purchased precooked and are of very poor quality. The cooks could not care less about sanitation as can be verified by reading their health inspections. Hand washing is non-existent. I witnessed a cook sop grease off of fried eggs with a dirty towel that he used all morning for wiping any and everything. Please, if you love and care about somebody, do NOT take them to this dump. The owner, Laura, will no doubt respond and try to discredit me, when she should be taking her blinders off and clean up her act. She is a piece of work and should not be in the restaurant business. A friend and I went for lunch, and let me just say ewww. We ordered burgers and when they came they were pink and we had ordered them well done. When asked if we could get them fixed, we were told that it was the meat. That they have been have issues with and there is a red dye in the meat and they can't get it to turn brown because of it. I believe it was the owner that came over and said it was ok that we eat it because it was just dye and that's what her distributor had sent her. Of course I couldn't eat my burger and nor could my friend, would you? They did offer us something else but by then our appetites were already ruined. We won't be going back. read more
