Always a treat to eat at Friendly's, good food, good ice cream. Wish there were more Friendly's around.

Do any of the following apply to you: Not a vegan? Have no idea what a "foodie" is? Don't worry about reading nutrition labels? Could care less about of the cleanliness of your dining environment? If this speaks to you then coming to Friendly's in general is a great idea and this location is perfect because they don't care about any of that stuff either. More or less everything on the menu is in some capacity fried, cheesed, batter dipped or over sauced/mayoed to kingdom come. It also needs to be mentioned that things are easily a good 20% overpriced which is why it's idiotic to ever eat at any location without some type of kids eat free-15% off-20% off-$3 off of $15 spent coupon, etc. We rolled in on a Sunday afternoon last month and the place was packed. There was a small group waiting to be seated but every usable seat was taken. Notice how I said useable seat. That would be because around ¼ of the tables were left dirty as the place was badly understaffed in terms of servers and those same servers I guess were also expected to bus their own tables/vacuum the floors in their spare time. Forget South Carolina, it looked like Sherman and his men had sacked part of the dining room. After finally ordering, the food took over thirty minutes until everything was finally rendered which is ridiculous as nothing here is exactly Michelin Star quality in terms of flavor or in terms of complexity. Our server was nice and she was highly apologetic but she looked something like Scooby Doo from the original cartoon where his tail was tied together yet he was trying to go four directions at the same time as she tried to cover all her tables which were spread out over a large area not to mention trying to clear empty tables and push vacuum the floor. On a sidebar, the food was the typical least common denominator stuff that you would expect here so no stars added or deducted in this area but either way the wait was way too long and between being understaffed and dirty it equals a no-go for us in the future. read more

I've been here many times over the years while at Gettysburg. The food and ice cream are OK. They have outdoor seating, have for years. They have hand sanitizer in many places and the employees wear masks. read more

It was good, and has the atmosphere of a Frisch's Big Boy restaurant. Good family and kid friendly eatery. The menu items were good and they are the only real chain sit down, non fast food, restaurant in Gettysburg. The real bright spot is the Ice Cream! The kids meals come with giant Ice Cream Sundae's and you also get a free medium sundae when you download and sign up for their app the first time. Also they have parking onsite, so no worries about metered parking or garage parking. Another plus! read more

My family really wanted burgers tonight and the first place we looked at ordering from turned out to be closed, so then we looked up Friendly's. I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy the food as much as I did, but it was SO GOOD!! My 4 year old even ate his entire meal!!! Which almost never happens. The only thing that could've made my burger just a bit better was if it had more cheese on it, however, I didn't choose to add extra. Next time I will. It was still more delicious than expected, and affordable. We picked up the food, didn't stay to eat in restaurant, but maybe one day we will as it seemed like a friendly place to bring our family back to next time. Staff was nice and helpful. Chicken sandwich was burned to a crisp. French fies were fried to a crisp. Food did not remotely resemble the Friendly's of year's past. Very sad as 3 generations have enjoyed Friendly's. If this is an indication of current food I except this site will soon be no longer. read more

I arrived at this Friendly's fountain window to order 2 large Fribble milkshakes. One person ahead of me picked up and paid for their order. I'm next! Get this...the male server walks away without a word. I'm left at the counter not knowing if I'm supposed to be ordering elsewhere or what. A female worker mumbles to the dude as he's walking away and ushers him back with a giggle. He swipes in to the register and I give him my order. That was at 3:29pm. It's now 3:44pm...I finally get my order. Jeez. There were 4 people in the kitchen and almost nobody in the dining room. How exactly does it take 15 mins to make 2 shakes at Friendly's when the rest of the shake-making world can do it in 1/2 the time? read more

i'm not sure if my review had been erased, but this place is absolutely the worst restaurant I've ever been to with all of the negativity. one of the managers named Kelly, I had witnessed her screaming at her employees. And making them constantly clean unnecessary things, which is illegal in some circumstances. This restaurant has also been nearly sued twice already for doing illegal habits such as that. I'm not sure why any owner or head of the restaurant would allow someone like kelly to be working here and making a very miserable working environment clearly. The food was absolutely awful, and it was not a welcoming environment whatsoever. I am very disappointed and disgusted with the service. of certain crewmembers. Great place to end the Battlefield tour; we have been coming here twice a year for about 7 years. Great Friendly's, always clean and servers are great and attentive. Even on busy days, their servers stop by and keep you updated about any delays. Drinks have never hit empty and their staff and management we have met over the years are great. Covid has had a impact on many businesses but I am glad to see that this place is still at its prime attention to detail. Food has always been great here and the ice cream is a wonderful selection of goodness! read more

This place is just as great as it was 15 years ago! Great atmosphere and delicious food. Prices are good and they have this deal where you goose an entree and get a sundae as dessert for $10.99. There are many ice cream flavors and toppings to choose from like I got butter crunch (friendlies original) with butterfinger. Great dessert selection also if you're in the mood for just dessert. This place so awful. I could I would give this place negative 50. If you have a fish do not order chicken they cook their chicken and seafood in the same oil. Which is against the law because doing this can actually kill people, not to mention we had to wait over an hour for our food. Also as we were eating our food, we see the manager in the back blowing his nose into his shirt. Just disgusting. I definitely will not be eating here ever again. Only stopped in for dessert, so my review is based solely on that alone. Seated promptly, our order for dessert was also taken quickly. We ordered waters to go with the sundaes too, but I think the first gentleman didn't hear me ask for them and it was quickly rectified by our waitress. We decided to go with the Jim Dandy and the Reeses PB Cup sundaes. Both were delicious and well worth the price. This was my first trip back to a Friendly's restaurant in over 22 years! We were a party of ten, and one would think it was a party of 50. Wrong orders, took almost two hours for everyone to get meals. Then we thought surely it wouldn't take long to get a few sundaes, since that is one of the more prominent menu items. Again, took forever. Two members of our group had to leave before they even got their ice cream. Waitress said it's because they were "backed up" in the kitchen. 1. The dining room was FAR from busy 2. It's a matter of scooping ice cream, not preparing elaborate courses. How backed up can you get? Aside from the ridiculous wait time and perpetually confused facial expressions of the entire wait staff, food was mediocre. About as good as Steak and Shake and the like. Clearly most of it came from freezer bags. Wait staff was friendly (ha) enough and apologized numerous times. Still, won't be going back to this or any other franchise. read more

I came in here last week when I was driving up for the Woodstock 50 concert in Bethel Woods, New York. This is an old-fashioned neighborhood diner. It was about 2:00 in the afternoon on Friday and the place was probably two-thirds full. There were many families and old timers there. The wait staff had a very good rapport with the customers which is a good sign. I had the fried shrimp platter which came with fries and cole slaw. I also had a Coke and chocolate ice cream. The servings were generous but not overly so like some restaurants. The facilities were clean and well maintained. There were many photographs on the walls of patrons and local residents throughout the years. You could tell this place had been there a long time. The service was quick and friendly. I think everything came out to about $20.00. No complaints. read more

This place had some of the best burgers I had ever eaten. It came hot and ready with the best fries I ever had. Everything was delicious, the staff was amazing (our waitress, Jess, I believe that was her name) was very nice and kind to me and my family. I recommend this place, the only downside was that there was not too many people eating there, but took a good 20 minutes before they brought out my food and almost could not make it to my hotel room. There was a Friendly's near my high school growing up in NJ, so the chain always has a fond place in my heart. With this childhood image implanted in my brain, I think Friendly's is the best restaurant chain ever in the world. Kids' menu is very creatively arranged with mix and match alternatives to french fries including broccoli and apple sauce. Kraft mac and cheese was one of the entree choices and was a big hit. Each kids meal comes with a drink and a small sundae...an even bigger hit. Adult choices were a decent combination of burgers, fried fish, hot dogs, clam chowder, salads and some sandwiches. Senior specials were reasonably priced and also included a sundae. Place was neat and clean. Staff was courteous and accommodating. read more

I have to admit, this review is only for their milkshakes. I normally get peanut butter cup but the last time we had to go with the cookies and cream. The finacee is from the West Coast and had never heard of Friendly's before. She's only beeen to 2 locations in her life and they are both this one. Gettysburg is on the way up to the parents' place and this always makes for a nice stop, particularly when the entire town is dressed up in period costumes for the Civil War 150th anniversary. read more

During my stay in Gettysburg with the East Coast discovery crew, we ate on our own a lot. My friends and I decided to come here because of the cute name, and they sold ice cream. Yum! They even had WATERMELON SHAPED ICE CREAM here...how cool is that? We ate some meal stuff first though. They had a special that day, cheeseburger sandwiches. So they take burger and slap it between two pieces of bread. Between the bread, there was also lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and bacon. I'm personally not a fan of burgers, atleast not a big one. At the same time, these sounded really tasty, and all my other friends were ordering it. The cheeseburger sandwiches were alright, burger was kind of dry. I didn't like the bacon, too salty, too crunchy...to icky. The bread was overly buttered, and the vegetables weren't fresh. Sigh. Their one saving grace is ICE CREAM. I ordered a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream. It was a magnificent sea foam green color. If I were to come back here...I'd only get the ice cream. This definitely an east coast place. We decided to come to this place after adventuring the sacred Gettysburg. To re-live/learn our US history. There wasn't much choices to dine at in Gettysburg. This place is open late. Fair-cheap priced food items. I ordered chicken salad. It was decent. A good portion. Then ordered a 3 scoop sundae, which was refreshing and cheap! This is by far the worst friendlys around. Whether there are 2 tables or 20 tables the service is horrible and takes forever. Took our kids out on a random Friday afternoon and there were SEVERAL empty tables but made us wait 15 minute standing there just to come up and try and take our name telling us it will be a 30 minute wait. We were so very excited to to Friendlys while visiting Gettysburg and what a shock it was. Ordered the cheddar jack chicken and an add on salad and to say the food was sub par would be an understatement. The chicken was undercooked and missing key ingredients to make it what we ordered. Oncevwe ordered, we had to find a waitress to get the missing ingredients and did not see her again until she dropped the check. This is by far the worst Friendly's restaurant I've ever been to. Took an hour trip just to get an appetizer and some ice cream with husband. Turned into the worst hour and a half of my life. I was served a munchy mania appetizer with cheeseburgers mozzarella sticks and loaded waffle fries. The buns on the cheeseburger were hard the meat was dry the cheese was oily. So we waited 30 minutes no one came back to the table no new ice cream arrived and 30 minutes after I finally got a communication from Jade that said if you guys are ready to go I'll give you the bill now with no new ice cream in hand and the only thing eating for that night was a munchy mania appetizer that was just purely pathetic I think management needs to take a look into their staff as I observed everyone playing on their cell phones when they should be playing with the ice cream they're making in my bowl I will never visit this location again and probably won't visit another Friendly's for a long long time thank you friends and I hope you enjoy this honest review see you later read more

Great service, the waiter helped navigate us around Gettysburg. The food was really good. I ordered a cup of chicken noodle, and the waiter accidentally brought me a bowl and told me my cup became a bowl and I wouldn't be charged extra. All of us had ice cream after, the main reason for going here. I was introduced to Friendly's when I was in Myrtle Beach and have loved it ever since. They even had a "happy ending sundae."
