I was looking forward to a Friends 8th B'day here and know that the Host's reservation for 9 was treated in a timely and efficent manner and that those at the table looking for 'burger & fries' lunch were reasonably satisfied w'lunch and the sundays that followed. One of the guests and I had hopes of a more nutritious lunch. We would have been satisfied w'a salad that didn't come w'cheese &/or meat. and also had most anything but iceberg lettuce! We would have been satisfied w'a veg. burger that didn't have cheese &/or egg, we would have enjoyed ANY non-dairy dessert w'the rest of the party! Not wanting to spend our hosts hard earned $ at her daughter's B'day party and then tell Friendly's to leave off ingredients not wanted and w'no sub. alternatives offered by wait staff we tried to celebrate the 8th year B'day party w'as little 'fuss' as possible. In this day of a Beyond Burger/Impossible burger always in a well stocked freezer, of non-dairy 'creamy' desserts made by just about EVERY ice cream vendor, and health concious diners eating less sat. fat and animal products this is the first time I have been unable to work w'the menu and have a meal! Great post dance recital dinner with the family at Friendly's In Massapequa. Since everyone is all about the masks....Everyone working in there wore a mask and gloves . They have all paper disposable menus and only bring condiments if you ask so they don't get all goobered on by everyone else. They have every other table blocked off which sadly wasn't even necessary because they were so empty . As always the food was good and the ice cream was delish . The server was very attentive and so happy to be back at work too. I went to this Friendly's yesterday and today. I'm not gluttonous, it was just an apparent coincidence. Yesterday, I ordered a salad with crispy chicken, and it was delicious, and hearty for lunch. However, my brother said his chicken tenders were half cold. But, at least I can say that our male waiter, was very attentive and was very happy to serve and list our orders. Today, I came back here with family for only ice cream, around 5:30. No big monster sized entrees that I devoured and loved, like yesterday. Don't think that I never eat dinner. We chose not to order them, because some of my family are picky eaters. Our upbeat female waiter was sweet, friendly (as in the restaurant name), and kindly took our orders with precision. She pretended to have a photogenic memory when it came to the order, since she didn't write it down and stuff. We remained optimistic, but she came back and said that she forgot one of the requests. Finally, we got our ice cream and it was delicious. Mine was very filling for a quote on quote "small" sundae. 3 stars for service, and partially sticky tables. However, the servers should write down the orders, and try not to mentally remember it, in case of mistakes. But, kudos to our server for at least getting it right. read more

All the Friendlys by me are basically closed. One is for good reason, the other was pretty good. I was looking for some ice cream and decided to find one. We found parking and were seated pretty quickly. The waitress came over and handed us the ice cream menu. We had an ice cream and i ordered a fribble. It came in a metal cup. The food was cold and the portions were not consistent. Nobody likes to get a handful of fries and have their dining companions be served a mountain of fries. I went with my parents for lunch at Friendly's in Massapequa Park. It is a large space, well decorated and pleasing to the eye. We were seated by the hostess immediately and given menus. Our waitress was Katelyn. My father ordered a diet Coke and I ordered coffee. Each of us got a bowl of New England clam chowder to start. I ordered the apple harvest salad with chicken. This came with a balsamic dressing which was on the side. My father ordered the Reuben sandwich and my mother ordered the fish sandwich [fishamajig]. The food came promptly, everyone was happy with their choices and it was delicious. My coffee cup was promptly refilled and Katelyn was very attentive and accommodating. So disappointed drove past at least 3 other place to get ice cream because I really wanted a Reece's pieces sundae. This was a treat and more money than should have been spent placed the order and specifically asked fo NO marshmallow topping on either sundae I ordered the server repeated the order twice I get all the way home and the sundae had a drizzle of fudge and peanut butter and gobs of marshmallow topping. Came for a light dinner a couple weeks ago but really I just came for the ice cream sundae and had a coupon. I ordered the Crispy Chicken wrap and my boyfriend got the BLT. We enjoyed both. Service was decent not the best. It was a busy Saturday night! Our Sundaes were really what was disappointing. Filled with sauce and barely why ice cream. They forgot some of the toppings and it really was just a disaster. This is probably my least favorite Friendly's on the Island. Seems they need to get it together and stop pouring gallons of sauce on a two scoop sundae. The presentation of the ice cream sundaes were also terrible. Came to this place for lunch. I had to give my name for a list with 5 visibly open tables available then I waited 10 minutes for this person to seat us at a table that was previously being used. The girl taking names couldn't even keep the people entering the store organized, because she kept so many waiting. It's just Friendly's . I finally get seated at a washed table that stinks from the dirty water they used. I had to ask to have it dried and then to have it re-washed with clean water because it stunk so bad. I came in with two children, one a 10 year and she asked if we needed a kids menu. Umm yea I think so. Then came back with it and basically flung it onto the table. I brought the manager over to discuss this and she was nice and listened. She made and effort throughout and the waitress was great also. If it wasn't for these two and my "kids" I would've left from the first impression but the food was good all around and the only problem with it was the chicken bacon ranch burger is not a full size burger, it's closer to slider size, so don't get that if you're hungry. read more

I don't know why people knock this place. We go to Friendly's every now and then and each time I feel like a kid again! It's like an injection of youth! I get a big goofy smile on my face every time. The food isn't spectacular, and if your expecting that, then your delusional. The food is ok, but what's great here of course, is dessert. You scream, I scream, we all scream for Ice Cream! Although the ice cream menu has changed over the years, some of the classics are still available like the Jim Dandy, Reese's PB Sundae and Banana Split. I love it! I have since I was a child and don't know why so many closed. The Massapequa location is great! The servers are fabulous and Erica, the manager, goes above and beyond. Their breakfast is half the price of local competitors and so good! It's a great place for kids. You don't have to worry about asking them to calm down or stop being children. Tonight we were at friendly for dinner and to celebrate my sons belated birthday, he was so excited that he dropped one of his presents a personalized boom between two booths that don't happen to come apart, I asked a waitress for a hand, and after about 10 min and a lot of help from the staff and manager we were able to retrieve the book. The staff at this friendly's went above and beyond to help us, and helped end my sons birthday on a happy note. The food was good, the ice cream was great and the staff amazing!!! read more

I love this huge Friendly's. It was once a diner and they converted it very nicely. You can almost get lost in there. Most Friendly's are pretty small. So right there they get the 5th star. The service is great here also. Many Friendly's I have been to have serious service issues. Not even sure why. They are always polite and courteous but slow. I have been to many on LI and it's always the same problem. However, the ice cream makes up for that. Now that I live 40 minutes away from MP, and only go to this one when I visit my family, I still suffer through the long waits. I know the food is not healthy but it is very delicious. The happy endings sundae is the perfect size. My sister and I sometimes share the Reese's Pieces Sundae because it is that big. Long story short before my mom passed away in 2014 we came here all the time. She could not eat solid food and so she always got her favorite Milk Shake or Ice Cream. We had one server that we would request and I wish I remembered her name. She was so wonderful to my mom. The last couple of times we went she wasn't there. My fiance and I now take the train when we come here as it pulls up right across the street. Perfect location. I highly recommend this Friendly's. OH, I never smelled wet dog in there! I love Friendlys and always have!!! I frequent this location as many aren't open anymore and we have had mostly excellent service. We have had Katelyn numerous times and she is always on point with everything. She is smiling and refills drinks just when you need it. Very nice and patient with my son. The hostess Sara is always so pleasant asking how our meals are. I went the other night with some friends and I ordered grilled cheese. It was $8.99! I mean it's my favorite but for some cheese on delicious sour dough bread? I asked the server Luis. I wasn't being nasty or anything and never would but I was just curious. He asked the manager and manager said it was price. I believe it was price for Ultimate Grilled Cheese..: but we will see. Can't go wrong with friendlys. This is the worst friendlys I've ever been to. When you walk in it smelled weird. As we walked towards the back it started to smell better and it didn't smell where we sat. If we and it smelled, I would've left right away. The waitress was seriously so nasty! She took our orders and wasn't nice at all and seemed like she didn't want to deal with us. We came for ice cream only and gave two of us regular to go cups and two of us the glass cups??? But why because we're all staying? The to go cups definitely did NOT have as much as the glass ones. When politely asked the girl gave us a snarky attitude. When giving us the bill she wasn't nice and didn't look at us in the face. I ordered food tonight from Friendly's in Massapequa and Mitchell's food got delivered instead of mine. An honest mistake and not really a big deal. When I called and explained what had happened, they offered to have one of their workers drive to my house and deliver the correct food! They were so nice about it! I am so sorry that I don't remember the name of the woman that I spoke to on the phone, but I just want to say THANK YOU for being so sweet and kind, as well as for making sure that I had the correct food delivered!
