Just barely a 3 in our Breakfast travels. Our usual fare of 2 over easy, home fries, bacon,toast and coffee was mostly dry and tasteless. The only hero of the breakfast were the bacon slices which were thin and well prepared. Home fries seemed like they were prepared in some home far away from this eatery. Warmed up they had a nice crisp coating and soft inside but were otherwise tasteless. Coffee got our hopes up as a carafe of a good brand name coffee was left at our table...but one taste dashed our hopes. Bitter coffee sure starts the morning of wrong. Friendly's will always be a favorite even with the bad experiences I've had here and at other locations. Sometimes the food is really great and other times it's bland and gross. Ice cream always has been and always will be awesome. The crowd pleaser is great for groups especially with kids. Prices are average. Servers are usually pretty good. I came here to this location one time with my wife and our two nephews. One is one and the other 3. The three year old is autistic. He doesn't get to go out often to many sit down restaurants and had just woken up from a nap so he was pretty cranky. We sat down and put him in a high chair. He was fussy, crying and screaming. We tried to calm him down and the waitress even offered to bring his food first. It was very busy so there was still a pretty long wait. We put him to sit with his brother and he calmed down for a couple of minutes then started crying. The waitress brought out oyster crackers for him to snack on and he didn't want them. My wife ate a couple to show him that they were good and he should eat some but he wanted no part. She brought him to the bathroom to get him away from all of the people and to try to calm him down. The entire time everyone was staring thinking were these horrible people when really we were just trying to bring our nephews out for lunch and ice cream like others were doing with their kids. While my wife was in the bathroom there was a couple maybe in their late 40s early 50s diagonal from us who were giving us dirty looks the entire time. I'm a very observant person. I hear and see things when it looks like I'm not paying attention. The man was talking to his wife, I assume saying how my wife was "greedy and fat and taking all of the kids oyster crackers, no wonder he was screaming and crying". Also, we shouldn't be spoiling other people's meals with an upset child. I was beyond angry. The second my wife got out of the bathroom I told her we need to leave now. She was confused but still grabbed the little one and we payed for the drinks and went outside to the car. I explained all of the things the guy was saying to his wife and my wife stormed back in the restaurant, grabbed the leftover oyster crackers went to their table and threw them in his face and had a few words for him. Then we left. We were emotional and hurt. We ended up at sonics. Needless to say we haven't returned. Not because of the staff but because of the experience. Anyone who has a family member with autism knows how it is and it's so unfortunate people are so quick to judge not knowing what's really going on. They ruined what could've been a great lunch. We were so excited for the boys to try friendlys ice cream for the first time. I do commend the waitress that day for being so patient and helpful. Friendly's was the first place me and my bf went out upon moving to the area. The staff was very nice and attentive. You can not beat the 9.99 dollar deal they have going on right now. you choose 1 entree, soda, and then 2 scoops of ice cream and 1 topping for a sundae. I got the turkey club melt for the entree, it came with fries. The fries were all right, please take into consideration we came in 40 minutes before they closed. The sandwich was awesome! I do not know how they get it so crispy on the the outside but it was OMG good. My bf got the mozz n' marinara sandwich which he loved, it has tons of melty cheese and yummy chicken tenders inside. The ice cream was alright that is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I got the butter pecan and the black raspberry with marshmallow topping. read more

Alright burger and ice cream restaurant. Everyone has already said what needs to be said. I will say that having a dedicated ice cream section in the restaurant is great, because you can get really good deserts. It's like a DQ that serves hot food, as well, if you feel the need. The food is ok, the ice cream is decent, the staff is (usually) nice and the prices are fair. There is nothing standout here, and the only reason I go back is because my son likes it. If there is one thing that that really gets under my skin here it is the WAIT! You wait for everything, and you always wait to long. Wait to be seated (and sometimes it's a pretty long wait). You wait for your your food (which usually comes out barely warm). You wait for your ice cream (starting to melt). They are NEVER busy enough to explain the extended wait for everything. Came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. It's "conveniently" location on 114. I say "conveniently" because it's on 114. Depending on where you're coming from, that's either very convenient, or it becomes experience akin to "Road Warrior". But maybe that's just because I don't live in Massachusetts :-) This restaurant has been upgraded. Service was a bit slow, but the waitress was very friendly, and the omelette breakfast and coffee were great. We arrived at 7:45am. It was practically empty. I haven't been to a Friendlys for about 10 years - and it's like I never left! Exactly the same on the inside. Full of kids, freezing cold on a warm summer day, and same not-really-interested service. Got my old classic - chicken tenders w fries. It was about the same - pulled out of a freezer, warmed in a microwave, then dunked in boiling fat for a few minutes. And tasty nonetheless. Finished with a giant ice cream/brownie/whipped cream mess that made me nearly explode in a gluttonous goo. You know what you're getting w Friendly's. Out to breakfast this Saturday with my two girls, bright, colorful and clean. There was no wait, they got us drinks right away. The waitress was pleasant. Stay away unless you want to get sick! Careless employees This place has the filthiest kitchen, I'm surprised BOH hasn't shut it down. My son and I came and while we were waiting to be seated we watched how "clean" it is. An employee with gloved hands pushed down a trash bin with discarded food, tied the bag up and relined it with a new bag. Food was cold. Ice cream was chunky but it's Friendly's so can't complain. The food was terrible but I loved it. I think I threw up two times while eating it- and that's a record! My dog loved it so much that he fell right asleep after eating some and still hasn't woken up yet. Mac N Cheese was so congealed it stayed completely stuck to the box when I flipped the container over. Same with the ice cream. Not entirely convinced the Fribble is anything other than frothed milk, and the waffle fries were entirely unacceptable- only two were actually waffle shaped!! I am now experiencing a strange pulsing sensation in my left temple, and halfway through the meal my friend began to complain of back, stomach, and side pain. She is now unresponsive, sleeping soundly with the dog. Waited 10 minutes to get seated and then 20 minutes just for mozzarella sticks. Very disappointed in my service.

They do not hire enough staff here. There's about 3 servers, and no people to buss or host. We waited to be greeted for 10 minutes at the host stand. We've been sitting for 10 minutes and no one has came over to serve us. There are 10+ dirty tables. Definitely under staffed. Sucks because I love the food here read more

I wasn't going into this with high expectations because I didn't think the food would be good. I got chicken fingers and it was good not too crunchy and I found myself wanting more then just the four. It seemed expensive for ten dollars to only get four. Anyways my son got the Mac and cheese with the Frank's.the first plate had burnt hot dogs and a fly that was dead in the Mac and cheese but our waiter handle it so well. He apparently is brand new but great I believe his name is Patrick. He got us a new one and it came out so much better. My son also got the shark in the water and he really love it. Yeah, they're good again!! When I stopped by this Friendly's about three or four years ago, it was very dirty and the one employee I saw looked like he could care less. The place was empty and since no one was making an effort to clean it, I left. Yuk! Today, I thought I'd check it out again (was hungry and always liked Friendly's back in the 60s and 70s). I'm glad I did. The place was spotless. It had been painted at some point. The server was friendly and my Rueben Melt and fries were really very good. Not greasy at all, like in the past. Stepping into this Friendly's is like going back in time, a simpler time. I time when there was no Department of Public Health. A time when there were no food safety standards and a time when people went to a restaurant and made a day out of it. If you are looking for a filthy restaurant with slow service it doesn't get any better than this. We walked in just as the hostess was seating a couple. She then vanished for about ten minutes as nine people stood in the doorway with no place to go. The restaurant was basically empty except for a few customers. There were two employees staring at us who worked in the ice cream section. They had nothing do at all yet somehow they weren't able to seat us. They did seem to be having a good time screwing around and laughing. The hostess finally came back from wherever she was and seated us. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty she struggled to find a clean table. There were none. Every table in the restaurant was dirty. She finally sat us a dirty table that I had to clean myself. Not only was the table dirty it was also sunny. The window next to us was missing a shade. Every other window had a shade. I asked to be moved as I wasn't going to sit with the sun in my eyes. She seemed irritated. I'm pretty sure she wanted to go screw around with the two at the ice cream counter. She was nice enough to clean off another table for us. All of the tables around us still had empty plates and food on them. It was pretty gross. I can't imagine what the kitchen must have looked like. I was honestly afraid to eat anything but the people I was with insisted on staying. After that, the service was slow and the food was meh. I hate the new menu design. It's now wonder this company is almost out of business. They REALLY need to step it up. I absolutely love Friendly's Restaurant. The waitresses are pleasant and even when under staffed, keep their cool and deal with clients who are accustomed to fast food places. Friendly's is NOT a fast food restaurant...it was NEVER meant to be. However, I have always been waited in a reasonable length of time. The variety of foods makes it easy for several people with different desires to find something that they will enjoy. I love their breakfast menu. A wonderful family place to eat. Haven't been here in 10 years, since then they have remodled and I must say I like the new look. Service was awesome and food came out quick... A must when you have a 2 year old with you. The food was tasty, only they didn't really have much of a choice for toddlers. The kids menu was more for kids 7 or older. Even though it was 28 degrees out the icecream was still tempting and so very yummy, just ask my daughter LOL. Came here on a Saturday wow it was crazy. Had to wait a while to be sat but it was a Saturday so I expected that. The food is eh but I lurve there ice cream sundaes thats the only reason I come here. Ive been to this location only a few times but this particular time OMG it was filthy, greasy and sticky I couldn't wait to leave so I could wash my hands and change my clothes/sneakers. Food was all over the floor the tables werent being wiped down. The couple next to us had to clean their own table they looked disgusted by the mess. The service was horrible it took forever just to get our drinks. If I come back I'd make sure to wear old clothes/sneakers but after this gross experience its unlikely I'll be back. read more

Glad I tried Friendlys again.. I had given up on the franchise but my recent visit was great. Sparkling clean, super fast, tasty food and very reasonable prices. I will be back soon. I stopped by this morning to have breakfast with my family and was seated by a woman whose name I wont post, who also happened to be our server. I was extremely dissatisfied with our service, she knew nothing about customer service and was rude. My 3 year old, who I had been looking forward to taking here for breakfast, did not get offered any crayons meanwhile I saw every other child she sat get crayons. Our food was placed on the table and she simply walked away and did not ask if we needed anything else. Her attitude was a real turn off for a restaurant that is supposed to be family friendly and definitely not something I like to encounter in the morning when I am trying to enjoy a family breakfast. read more
