Came here at 7:00 PM on Tuesday with not many people inside. Took way longer then usual. Didn't receive the appetizer. Found hair in two dishes. Got normal fries instead of waffle. My visit this morning reminded me why I haven't had Friendly's in years. I was in a party of 9 and we were sat almost immediately. I always say to myself, if you walk into a food establishment and you can't smell any food,something is wrong. Our waitress Erica greeted us,took our drink order, and came back about 5-10 minutes later once we decided on our meals. I do understand that restaurants do get busy for breakfast in the afternoon, but we waited almost an hour to receive our food. Once our food arrived, Erica could not remember who ordered what and everyone's plate looked unappetizing and cold as it were sitting in the kitchen for hmm let's say an hour. Our butter wasn't even melting on the pancakes or french toast, and the chicken tenders tasted like they were fried in week old oil. I'm very particular when it comes to other people cooking my food, so when i ordered scrambled egg whites with cheddar cheese and received a large fried egg white with two slices of american cheese on it i was extremely disappointed. not to mention my pancakes tasted like they were made two days prior. When we kindly asked Erica for our correct orders, she went to the kitchen and yelled "i am not in the mood for this today". i'm not sure if she remembered our table was next to the kitchen , or she simply did not care about us hearing her. When we got the managers attention, she didn't seem to be concerned with our wait time or the unpleasant food that her staff cooked and presented to us. My friend even asked why parts of his pancake was green, and she stated that it must have been from the m&ms on the grill. no apology, just said it as if that's common. we asked to get some of our untouched meals removed from the bill , the manager took off a few dollars, and we all ended up paying for our meals anyways. I would never return to this Friendly's, or another for that matter. I don't see them staying in business much longer. read more

Yum! I never get a chance to go to friendly, I don't love remotely close to any and this was a nice treat. Ample kids meal options and good meal deals for adults. Our waitress didn't really listen to any of our requests (no tomato, extra cheese etc.) so that sucked, but the food quality was great overall. We were all totally stuffed when we left. read more

My family trips ends here in the Poconos PA mountain. Kids meals were BLAH, but cheap at $5.99 with free sundae ice cream, our honey BBQ chicken sandwich was tasteless and bad, the grill chicken caesar salad 1st attempt had old and stale vegs, our waitress replaced another NEW salad again but this time the chicken was NICE and JUICY but salad had TONS of dressing so I didn't bother again to even touch it, she came back and ASK ( how's your salad you didn't touch it ) i showed her you see how much dressing there is on it? A manager came over and said WOW its like drinking soup, I will remove it off your bill. Overall food is OK, price is definitely CHEAPER than NYC. My server was REALLY nice thats why Im giving his place a 3 star. She told me she was the ONLY server that night as it was slow. We saw the Friendly's sign on the highway on our way to NYC and decided to stop. My wife and i loved Friendly's growing up but all near us closed years ago. We are so glad we stopped, the food was wonderful and the icecream was just as we remembered. Where do I begin? When we arrived there was a long line waiting for seating and no one even tried to sit anyone on the line for 15 minutes. Once we got seated it took 20 minutes just to get our drink orders in and it took another 10 minutes just to get 5 waters we ordered. The restaurant was not busy whatsoever, there was maybe a total of 7 tables being used all together. Food was okay, but when we asked for more silverware and two sauces, the waitress had to have it repeated to her multiple times then write it down and she still confused about the sauce when she brought it to the table.. We then ordered ice cream and when two of the orders were wrong the waitress said "well i don't make them" meanwhile we saw on the receipt that she did indeed put the order in wrong. Our dinner plates were not bussed when we were eating our ice cream Don't get me wrong I completely understand that restaurants are understaffed and I feel for the servers that do show up to work with smiles on their faces, however when the place is empty and we are not a needy party of 5, it is not hard to provide mediocre service, which we did not. Right off the bat our waitress did not give us a kids menu after assuming we were over 12 years old. She clearly did not know a lot about the restaurant and it's alternatives as she did not know how to ring up half of our order. Most importantly 3 of the 6 customers had free medium sundaes and were not allowed to order due to " the check only being able to split into 3's" which is fine but she physically told us we could pay for our check and she'd come back to take our sundae orders separately. After taking our bill the group of us were waiting for over 10 minutes for her to come back and take our order until we witnessed her walk out of the building. We then decided to go to the front desk to order and told them the situation where we then had to wait another 20 minutes for the manager to "swipe her card" for our free sundaes except she was on a "important call" and that's when we decided to walk out and were unable to get our ice cream. read more

What a relief. Exactly what we hoped for . The kids were HAPPY! We chose this friendlys after a long day of waterparks with the kids. We were tired of being gouged and wanted a good meal that everyone would be happy and satisfied. Thankfully they gave us just that. Very grateful. The server was wonderful and attentive. My family and I travel from central Pennsylvania to Long Island about once a month and sometimes we stop at this Friendly's for a meal on the way home. The last visit, a few months ago, we were here and Alex was our server. She was friendly, attentive, and went over and above to make sure our dining experience was very enjoyable. We returned today on yet another visit, and were fortunate enough to have Alex serve us once again. Not only was she just as wonderful, but she remembered us and the couple of special requests we had made on our last visit and brought them before we even had to ask. Racial Segregation is practiced at this location...while eating breakfast with my husband (party of 2) we noticed that all black families were seated in the back by the bathroom and kitchen, while all other ethnic races were seated in the other sections within the restaurant. I brought it to the managers' attention and she replied that "we do not do that here". I asked her to look around, and I questioned her if my observations were inaccurate? She tried to come up with a rebuttal that "the seating was due to each party size." I then stated to her that, yes there is a variety of party sizes in the back section, my party size was of 2, the other black families were parties of 4 , 6, and 8. However as "OTHER" party sizes of 2 ,4, 6 and 8 came after, "THOSE" ethnicities were not seated in "that section" over there (as I pointed out). *Seats and tables were available in the back*. I went to the front of the restaurant while my husband paid for our meal, and I literally watched as a black family came, they were seated in the back and then another ethnicity came they were seated elsewhere. We stopped with the children and grandchildren after a day at Great Wolf Lodge at Scotrun. I used the Yelp ratings to find a family-type restaurant and felt Friendly's was safe. We stopped on a Friday night after 5pm. They were not busy and seated 10 of us rather quickly...only 3-4 other parties in the entire restaurant with employees needing something to do. Our waitress was good but the food was lacking. Soup & half sandwiches were decent as was one of the melts but daughter's side salad and my wife and my main salads had poor quality Caesar lettuce we picked out about 1/4 of it due to wilting and browning spots. Daughter also had chicken & broccoli entree that she said had no taste! We were ready to go and didn't make a fuss. As far as a Friendly's goes, it was pretty much what is to be expected. That being said, today i am super swollen from the sodium filled meal. Our server was really... well friendly. The hostess not so much.
