During our second day in Kalahari; my fiance, his family and I came to Friendly's for brunch around 11AM. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived the breakfast menu was already over. I've never been to a Friendly's much.I wasn't expecting anything extravagant and figured it really can't be any different from Denny's or any other chain restaurants,with the exception that Friendly's is famous for their ice cream desserts. It was the six of us so we shared a table that could barely fit us all (some of us are little extra taller and a little wider than the others). We all had to order from the lunch menu since breakfast was over. I wasn't craving for a salad or burger, so I stuck with a sandwich which is similar to Johnny Rocket's sandwich. I ordered the Patty Melt sandwich with fries. The Patty Melt sandwich was dressed with sauteed onions and melted Swiss cheese served on a grilled honey-dill rye bread with big beef patty melt. The fries were golden, crisp and delicious! Overall, the food was alright and like I said I didn't really expect much from here to begin with. Service was pretty good and our waitress was pretty warm and welcoming especially when they noticed my fiance's nephew is only eleven years old. I think I would only come back here if there weren't many options to eat around Poconos. read more

My family of 4 are staying at a nearby resort and we're so excited to go to Friendly's as we don't have one where we live anymore. We arrived at 7:28 and by 7:45 still had not been seated, despite being told about 10 minutes earlier that someone would be right with us. The 3 servers continued to do their thing, but noticed us there and ignored us. I finally asked to speak to the manager, who came out, looked at us and continued doing what she was doing. There we two other families that had also come in during this time. When someone finally came to seat us, I told him we need to speak to the manager and were told she was scooping ice-cream. We waited a few more minutes and she still never bothered to come talk to us. The restaurant was not very busy and there was no reason for this kind of service. The staff clearly couldn't have cared less about us as customers. We returned to our resort and had a delicious and friendly meal there. read more

Friendly's made our birthday boy very happy. We came in for lunch as a group of 7 and just had to go back for dinner with a group of 17. They were spot on with the amazing details to customer service! Lunch and dinner were both AMAZING and so affordable!!!! Everyone ate what they wanted and even got their own personal sundaes and it didn't break the bank. The staff was super amazing and EVERYTHING came out the kitchen perfectly. There were limited options by Great Wolf Lodge, so my family and friends, totaling a group of 18, were forced to eat at a kid-friendly chain to accommodate a large group. We walked in at about 11:15am to find that they were no longer serving breakfast, which is what we each were craving. Disappointingly, we ordered from the lunch menu, which consisted of your usual sandwiches, salads and soups. I do like that the kid menu included a drink, entree and dessert for a fair price. My LO enjoyed her milk, cheese quesadilla and ice cream. I ordered a New England Clam Chowder and salad and my other half a burger with fries. My soup was extremely salty and lacking thickness. My other half's burger was overcooked and appeared to be a previously frozen patty. Not to mention, we found dried food stuck in most of our forks and our waitress had to "wash them herself" after we complained. We didn't have high expectations coming in here and walked out with the food meeting those low expectations. My family and I are in the area and ordered from Friendly's via Uber Eats. We've ordered before and had a good experience, but this time we had the worst Uber Eats driver. He cancelled my order after he arrived at my hotel, while I was on my way down from my room. I later learned he was rude to the Friendly's team when he picked up my order, and then never returned my order after he canceled it, so he stole my food. I ate here as a child and have very fond memories. I would get the cone head and my dad would always get the jim dandy. So sad the one in our hometown closed. Whenever we have a chance out of town we take our kids. The food isn't gourmet but it is consistent. The Reese's Pieces Sunday is a must have for my significant other. The general manager was great. Our family was in town for a Great Wolf Lodge visit and when we saw there was a Friendly's in the area we had to go! The food was very good and came out quickly, which is surprising since almost any Friendly's we've been to has had the SLOWEST service. I got as far as the lobby, before I decided to leave with my protest signs and fellow "Taste Bud Enthusiasts" (We meet every Tuesday and Thursday behind the old firehouse). From what I could tell, the place seemed to be mobbed with tourists and screamin' kids. I snarled at the hostess when she asked how many were in my party, telling her to go "jump in a lake". I love stopping by this particular Friendly's for the New England Clam Chowder. I have asked the waiter, who presented one of the cook staff and explaining how they make their Clam Chowder. All Friendly's get a list of approved suppliers that have a similar quality and taste to purchase their pre-mixes and ingredients for. Their New England Clam Chowder comes from one such pre-packaged mixes. They just re-heat it. I thanked them for their honesty, and quality of service. I still like their New England Clam Chowder for a bit of clam in every bite. The entrees are okay, nothing special. I usually order the Fish n' Chips, burgers or Fried Clam Basket. The fried stuff is soggy, but I kind of like that, rather than the crunchy since it sometimes cuts up my gums. I love their ice creams, and try to finish the Jim Dandy on my own... not been successful yet. I've got sentimental ties to this particular branch of Friendly's and been a patron here for about the last 17 years. I'll be coming back whenever I can. read more

I am originally from PA....now living in the northern VA area. Every time I visit the Pocono region, I stop by Friendly's in Tannersville. The breakfast is consistently good. If it is lunch or dinner time, we always have to get the ice cream for dessert. The place is clean and comfortable and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. I never found much I liked here until recently. They finally added a health conscious menu that controls portion sizes, and reveals calories - bravo! Prior to that I felt like I was eating kids food, in large portion sizes. I also like thier cup of chili - makes a good appetizer to hold you over.
