I was at an event recently who used the Friskie Fries food truck. There were some really interesting choices of "dressed" french fries I opted for the Tiger King (General Tso's chicken, mandarin oranges and scallions). The fries were crispy and well done. There were only three little pieces of chicken on the dish, but they were very tasty. Overall a good choice for a quick meal where you get fries and something else on top.
We found this place in Downtown, Providence Rhode Island. This spot is an about a 5 minute walk from Johnson and Wales. We order three different types to try and shared them all. The best was the Buffalo Chicken Friskie Fries. Boneless chicken bites, lots of blue cheese dressing and crumbles and of course hot sauce. The second was the Steak and Cheese, they were very tasty. My wife really enjoyed the Loaded Potato Fries, she put some the malt vinegar on them and it was really good. We were greeted immediately by friendly staff. I thought the price for the beverages were a bit much. $3.22 for a can of soda is a bit excessive. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area looking for a quick snack.
The food was VERY good! Definitely try at least once. This location is super small, no indoor seating, just picnic tables outside. Super fast service. My only complaint is that it is super pricey. Water/soda shouldnt be $3/can. And four orders of fries shouldnt have been $50.
If you're looking for a healthy, low calorie dish, you won't find it here! However, if you're looking for a crispy, tasty, treat, you've arrived at the right place. Friskie Fries used to operate out of a food truck and has now expanded to 5 retail locations, 4 in Rhode Island and 1 in Massachusetts. We've visited their Providence location a few times, it's very small and very popular (pre-coronavirus). The fries always come out piping hot, and they layer their ingredients, so they are not just on top, but integrated throughout the box of fries. On this visit, we were at their Johnston, RI location, which is even smaller than the Providence venue. It was curbside delivery, and we sat at the solitary picnic table on the side of the building. We ordered Buck Naked Fries with Sea Salt, Philly Cheese Steak Fries, and Poutine with Handmade Vermont Cheddar Curd and Brown Gravy Fries. I'm going to share a secret with everyone in this review. If you take lots of hot, crispy fries and add cheddar, curds, salt or gravy to them, they are likely to taste great! And these did not disappoint. As an aside, certain ingredients can make some of the fries a little soggy, but I think that's a reasonable trade-off and a tasty result. So, if you're seeking a flavor and calorie intensive destination, this would be a great choice. We look forward to a return visit. Note that the very hard-working cook was observing COVID-19 best practices including wearing a mask, allowing only one person or family inside at one-time (to order), and all the patrons we saw in the parking lot were also wearing masks and keeping their distance. Kudos to all.
This is one of those times I wish 3.5 stars was an option. The place is small, but very cool and specializing in French fries and doing it well is a great idea. They offer multiple toppings, seasonings, spices etc and they even have desert fries! I checked this place out for the first time today and it lived up to the hype I heard. I'm not sure how it's been there so long but I had never heard of it before! Fries are great, no doubt. My issue is the size and the price. I wish there was a smaller size you could order at a lower price point, because they are expensive. Especially when you'd like to try multiple flavors. That's about all I can say for now. I'm sure I'll visit again, but it will be a special treat kind of thing for sure. Thanks!!
Fries tasted like dollar store fries that were fried, left out to cool, then refried. Bland, and very expensive. Not much was put on them in terms of toppings. If you include a tip, almost $16! To be fair, their Providence location is a a solid 5 and I've had wonderful experiences there. Update: They reached out and thanked me for the review, offered me a free dressed fry. These folks are very friendly!
I mean what's not to like?! My first encounter with these finely feathered French fry artists was on Federal Hill for the Columbus weekend festivities. The fry truck was out in full force pumping out the freshy fresh. Since there were a bunch of us I got to try several different options. Talk about flavor explosions! Just when I thought fries were one dimensional they busted out the prism of delight! From that time on they had me hooked. This little store front off Killingly is pumping out the same digs hot and fresh. Order, sit in your car and let em bring out the best! My only infraction on the rating is upon entering I was greeted by an employee shoving fries in his face...but I mean, can you blame him! Bon appetite!
These fries are freaking GOOD. Ever crave fries so badly that you don't even care what they taste like? Because I don't. I am picky. If I am going to eat fries, it's only worth it if they're warm, crispy on the outside, and thick with potato on the inside (unlike embarrassingly skinny fries that shouldn't even be called fries). These do the trick. There are plenty of options to choose from, but they really make a killer fry worth eating without anything extra. This is important because it means they don't disguise the taste with anything. Good price for the amount of fries (enough to split between 2 people but not too much to make it ridiculous if you devour a whole order on your own). Great food truck in RI and I will be back again & again.
Stopped by here for a quick bite after a long drive to Rhode Island from NY. The area wasn't the cutest but the shack was and the service was good! We got the old bay dusted fries and the garlic oil and parmesan fries. Both were super hearty and delicious. The fries are THICK and very generously coated. I loved the one with Parmesan. I definitely wished I tried the poutine fries! Can't complain! It was a nice quick and delicious snack stop.

Spontaneously decided to visit because I remembered my friend talking about it. I wasn't sure what to expect from this little shack, but I wasn't disappointed! You just can't go wrong with any of their fries! I tried some of the Fowl Play and I got the Disco Dottie and both were really good! My only complaint was that the gravy on the Disco Dottie had that weird "out of the jar" after-taste, but I can't wait go back again!
I'm not sure why it's so hard to find crispy fries, like anywhere, but Friskie Fries has 'em if you're looking. It's written on their truck actually, that they've got "The crispiest, friskiest, fries in town", and I would agree! Perfectly crispy fries with or without super sassy toppings. The "Disco Dottie" is their Poutine, and they even pay homage to lil' Rhody with the "Rhode Kill", a loaded fry version of the NY system weiner. The fries come in large chinese-takeout containers, and even after sharing some with my boyfriend, dinner isn't happening because I am full! They often attend Food Truck Fridays at Roger Williams and almost always have the longest line there, with good reason. read more

Ok so first time I went I got buffalo chicken wasn't overly impressed with the quality of chicken or not being hand cut homemade fries BUT I went back. Again. Again. Again. And I must say what a neat junk food idea. Have now had 3 more appealing experiences with them and it's worth it. The fries are generic but damn they get them so spot on crunchy, steak n cheese was excellent. The Rhode kill was bomb with a weenie and sauce on fries! For desert Smores... that's all I gotta say. Give it whirls when you need that junk fix it's right for the occasion! read more
I ordered the 'Miss Potato Head' kind. It included sour cream, cheese, bacon, and chives. They ran out of bacon and some how misplaced my order. Once I finally got my order, I couldn't wait to dive right in! It was delicious- I loved the flavors and texture of the fries! read more

After looking at other's reviews I got to disagree with them. Yes the fries are $8.00 but that is for the speciality ones. Not to mention you get a pretty big container of them. Enough to share with 2-3 people! If you just want the regular fries with no toppings they are around $4.00. Of course prices are going to be a bit higher than Mcdonalds fries because come on guys. Their truck specializes in french fries. Now about their fries: I would say they are thicker than regular fries. They are nice and crispy. I had mine for about 20 minutes and they did not seem to get overly soggy which is surprising because I got the disco fries which has gravy covered all over them. They were pretty delicious. They have so many combinations to meet your flavor preference. The lady was really nice and helped me choose which fries to get even though it was crowded. I am a Friskie Fries fan. read more

So fun and friskie! Seriously though the fries are amazingly crunchy and topped with lots of different ingredients. Served in a Chinese food takeout container you get a hefty portion. My hubby and I first fell in love with these guys at the Salem food truck festival. Much to our dismay we learned that they are out of Providence. However, they just opened up a restaurant location (also in providence) recently. Somehow going to an actual brick-and-mortar location is better than chasing a food truck around another state. Soooooo since they opened we have been twice and we have no complaints. The staff is very nice and the food has been delicious. Including the shakes!!! Between my husband and I we have tried the chili fries, the parmesan fries (alley cat), the chicken parmesan fries (fowl play), the Philly cheesesteak fries, and the miss potato head fries which is basically a potato skin in fry form. Definitely a fun little road trip trip from Boston or if you're in Rhode Island, go!!! read more
Hands down my favorite place for French fries. I have been known to track down their food truck all over the place and now it's so much easier knowing exactly where I can get my Friskie fix. I've tried just about all the options on the menu, but my favorites are the Miss Potato Head and the Rhode Kill. I usually take my order to go, but there is a small dine in area if you can't wait to eat these delicious fries. I really don't blame you if you can't wait. read more

just stopped at this location 20 minutes ago, i got the Cluck -U and the chicken is rotten . when i took a bite the chicken in the inside is dark. Very upset i spent $8.50 on this. never again read more

THESE ARE SO GOOOOOOD. I've gotten over the novelty of food trucks cause they're normally overpriced for what they are but Friskie Fries does it right. Big portion for a good price! A container of these fries make an amazing appetizer for 2-3 (I ate like half by myself and had self restraint to not eat it all). I had the Miss Potato Head which comes with bacon bits, scallions, sour cream, and cheese. A little heavy on the sour cream, but at least it was quality sour cream. The fries were fried pretty crispy, which I enjoy. If you find this truck make sure you get some fries! read more

It's so wonderful that the PVD Food trucks have ventured down into South County. The second Thursday of every month they are by Son's of Liberty in Wakefield. There is a great selection of vendors offering unique eats. That being said, each food truck really has to stand out for their offerings. Friskie Fries does just that. From sweet to savory there is something for even the most discerning taste buds. My favorite is probably Disco Dottie, aka Poutine. For those that haven't tried poutine before you are missing out and I highly reccomend Friskie's. Being a life long Rhode Island resident, the Rhode Kill fries also sound awesome. But back to the point... if you see this food truck or are near their location in Johnston definitely stop in and grab a bite. read more

Can't get enough of these French fries! I want to keep going back to try every kind. This greasy food hits the spot every time and is perfect at any time of day. It also is a filling meal because of all of the toppings they put on top of the fries. I got mine from their food truck - the line is usually long but worth the wait. You can usually find their truck at lots of PVD event. My favorites are the Miss Potato head (sour cream, cheese, scallions, bacon) and the Cluck-U (chicken, buffalo sauce, blue cheese). I would definitely recommend trying this place! read more
One of my favorite "stoner fat foods" of all time. I like the piggy with cheddar cheese sauce. It's so freaking good especially when the dude who works there makes it. The guy puts some of the toppings on the bottom half way through and then on the top for extra goodness. My hubby likes the buffalo chicken one. Again best if the guy makes it because he just knows what's up. They are saucy deliciousness. While I don't always approve of frozen food and the French fries are pre frozen and packaged.... I like them a lot. They are hot salted to perfection and perfect for their toppings that appear to be homemade ! Yum!!! After reading the reviews I will say that they are not consistent with the way they make the fries I think some of the workers are lazy and others know how it is done. The male worker with facial hair knows how to make them the way they have been intended. Delicious. The other workers are lazy and only put the toppings on the top. I had one worker opt to put the coleslaw in a to go container and when she realized they were out she only gave me a tiny bit in a to go container. read more

If you are willing to wait at a glacial pace than you are willing to wait for French fries cooked in a reclaimed FedEx truck via a generator. I don't see what the appeal given the fact that it absolutely wreaks of diesel fuel but to each it's drunken own. This truck is not gourmet and hardly worth the effort. I can't believe it takes 45 minutes for a bucket of fries. Wow, save your money on Sicilias! Also, they say hat their fries have pepper but they don't because there are apparently so many kids that eat their fries but than maybe that should offer pepper instead of forcing people to complain for it to get it. read more

Finally a legit Poutine in RI! Their selection of fries is mouthwatering and the staff is also top notch! If this isn't already your new spot it will be after you've tried it. Can't wait to go back and try all of the other offerings. read more

The pulled pork fries are delicious it's on the pricey side but the portions are big you can easily split them with someone. It's a small place only 6-8 seats at most so plan accordingly. read more

This was our second time trying Friskie Fries. The quality of the French fries themselves are awesome. Crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We've tried the Old Bay seasoned fries which were delicious and the poutine fries which weren't my favorite. The gravy was cold and the cheese curds were really cold too. If this were hot it would have been awesome because everything could have melted together well. Overall, I love the experience and the people who own the truck are awesome. We always find this place on the weekends in Providence. read more

Last time I came here I couldn't wait to come back. Now I don't plan on coming back. I went here with my friend a week ago and he liked it but the same doesn't go for me. Last time the fries were crispy and delicious but this time they weren't. I got the poutine just like I did the first time I came here. This time the fries seemed over cooked and lacking flavor. The gravy was also lacking flavor. The cheese curds weren't melty. In my last review I complained about how expensive the soda was. Well that's one thing that hasn't changed. Still $2 for a can of soda. I don't know why they charge that much when you could go to the market and get a two liter for $2 or the 12 packs of cans 5/$10. The prices for the fries aren't too bad because they give you a lot. I wish they would come up with more flavors/combinations. Inside is very small with about 10 seats. They don't have a bathroom so you'll have to go use the one in Dominos. Also the parking lot isn't that big. I don't plan on coming back here but if I do end up here again I really hope the fries go back to the way they were a few months ago. read more

Some of the best fries I've had! They are nice and crispy and the toppings are delicious. I've been there multiple times and every time the staff has been very friendly and only takes a few minutes. The miss potato head is my favorite. Milkshakes are really good too! read more

I read in "The Bay' magazine that there was/is a Friskie Fries in the shopping plaza in Barrington shopping plaza. Is this true? If not, will it be in the future?
