We dined in around 8:45PM on a Friday night. We were quickly seated and a server greeted us immediately. I wanted a cider, but served informed us that they were sold out. My date wanted the beer cheese with his pretzel, but served informed us that they were also sold out. Bummer! I did feel a little rushed, the server check on us frequently (mostly to take our order) but failed to offer drink refills or another round. It was my first time here, so I was unsure what I wanted to eat. I decided on the Chargrilled Chicken and it was good! I enjoyed the grilled veggies and wild rice that it was served with. I wish it came with a sauce! There was live music it seemed to end around 9PM, but that was nice to enjoy on the patio. I recently moved to Boerne, I'd love to give this place another shot... maybe I'll come earlier in the day to reduce the risk of items being sold out for the day... read more

We stopped by on a whim, so we didn't really know what to expect. It's a very casual restaurant, a little more casual than I expected - the hostess was wearing very short spandex, I didn't feel they were very appropriate attire. The food was ok, I got the Rueben with fries and my husband got the fish and chips, which he said were good and very light, the tartar was house made and unique. The seating was very tight, back to back with the table next to you and made it a bit uncomfortable and unable to stretch out. There was a live band, the music was nice and not too loud so you could still have a conversation. My husband ordered a beer, I don't know know which one, but he said it was very good. Other than being right off Hwy 46 w the busy traffic this place rocks. Plenty of seating inside and out and a great menu. Get there early for parking but this service is great and the food is excellent. The concierge's at Tapitio springs told us about this place and we had to try it. It was everything they said and more. Cool atmosphere, great service and delicious food. We had the pretzel and sausage bites for an appetizer. My husband had the chopped plate with Axis meat, sautéed veggies and fried okra and he loved all of it. I had the Rueben and fries. I wasn't impressed with the fries at all. Also, it was Wednesday and they 1/2 of bottles of wine and if you can't finish it they will cork it and let you take it! Popular place with a varied menu. I did get some bad food once. That was once out of numerous visits. Great drink selection of local beer, ciders and drinks. Portions are generous and reasonably priced. The outdoor patio is the place to picnic during any season! Looks are certainly deceiving with this Brewhouse for sure. What appears to be a casual bar that might serve wings and burgers is actually a restaurant offering a diverse menu with well crafted dishes. Obviously from the name, they serve a large variety of beer and drink options but they also have an extensive menu and even offer weekend specialty dishes. I ordered off of the weekend menu. I chose an amazingly unique flatbread quiche with a Mediterranean filling and a side of potato leek soup, which was very flavorful and complimented my quiche perfectly. I'm not a big beer drinker so I decided on the mimosa flights. what appeared to be a light menu order left me filled, and satisfied with the flavors from my food. I couldn't have asked for a better day then to visit The DD. My best buddy said "Bar, now" and with no questions asked I told everyone at home "Bye" and headed out. It was beautiful weather for an outside sit and have some beers. To my surprise they had a live jazz band playing. Apparently this is not a new thing they do this regularly. The music was on point. It was our waitress that made the experience the absolute best that it was. Her name was Ja'Toni and though she was not check on us as frequently as anyone would usually expect, but still she was very professional, nice, and courteous. Then there was Hannah and Annsley a good duo. They were always running around and taking care of their tables. Its good to see a restaurant or just any establishment with hard working staff. When my buddy and I were sat it took too long for us to be greeted and take our orders, and it was the same kinda wait for our food. Either way no harm done, the pretzel and sausage app was DELISH as well as the assorted sauces it came with like the melted cheese, mustard, and spicy jam. Kuddos!! Finally made it here after reading about it, from back in the early days of craft breweries in Texas. Uber'd in, so can't speak to parking. Was pretty busy for the evening meal, but we were seated quickly, and had our orders in by the time our pints arrived. Opted for burgers (I had the Axis burger), Hop Queen had the sauteed veges for her side. Everything was tasty and went well with the high IBU IPA. Server was on the spot for refills, and anything else needed, other staff were friendly as well, even just passing by. Pulled up to a line waiting to get in since they open at 11a on Sundays--& we now see why. For June in Texas, the weather has been amazing--breezy and warm (not hot). We sat outside to live jazz music. Waitress, Erin, suggested the sausage links plate or fish and chips. We ordered one of each and it did not disappoint. I'm not a tartar sauce person (lean to malt vinegar) on my fried fish, but there's is exceptionally good. The pretzel that came with the sausage link plate was incredible - - comes with a side of beer cheese dipping sauce. First visit there for my wife and I and we were very favorably impressed. The food, drink and atmosphere were all wonderful. I had the bison burger (cooked perfectly) and my wife had the axis burger. We came here on a Sunday for a late lunch. There is roadside parking out front. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant, but not sure if it is for the restaurant. It was packed, but we were sat pretty quickly. They had a band on the patio playing jazz, which was loud, but not too loud. The patio is also dog friendly. Always passing by this place when we decide to stroll thru Boerne but today was not that day! Our party of 9 was well serviced today for brunch. very friendly waitstaff! It was a Sunday and the Nelson Trio offered up some melodic jazz tunes to accompany our meal in the Biergarten. Not formal but a cozy casual atmosphere. Fantastic sunny weather with a slight breeze made sitting outdoors extremely pleasant. Quite impressed with the fish - beer batter perfection, and the fillet was moist and flaky. The house made dressing that accompanies the fish is a great relish. A little more than I would prefer to spend on a hamburger and fries but I do recommend the chicken wings, a generous amount of carrots and celery was a plus! There is a great kids menu and the salad varieties on the menu looked promising for a return visit Truly uncertain the ease of wheelchair access to the restroom, pretty tight hallway. The Dodging Duck IPA was wonderful. Citrus notes and fantastic flavor. Our bartender was super friendly and kind as we tasted several beers before making our final choice. The wife and I enjoy this place. It's great on a nice day to sit outside. The food is typically very good. She usually gets a big salad and I enjoy their burgers. I've always passed this place and thought it looked cool with the views of Cibolo Creek. They have a heated outside porch which was perfect on a slightly chilly fall day. It's a beer and wine establishment so I settled on a glass of Riesling and my mom had a Chardonnay. They were both reasonably priced around $7 a glass. Our server was a young man who was both friendly and knowledgeable. My mom likes to ask questions before she orders and he was patient with her. More patient than I am lol. I settled on the BLT with fried green tomatoes and thick cut peppered bacon. It had a generous amount of guacamole and a cilantro lime sauce on a soft brioche bun. My only suggestion would be a different type of bread as the brioche was a little soft and didn't hold the toppings well and was really messy. Other than that I loved the flavor combination. Mom settled on the Rueben and said it was great. The German potato salad had an intriguing flavor. It was almost like a smashed potato texture and had a sweet taste to it (brown sugar maybe?). House cut fries were good as well. Crisp on the outside soft on the inside. We enjoyed the ambience, the service, and the food here. My brother and sister and I met in Boerne for a family reunion in March, and our first dinner out was at the Dodging Duck. What a DELIGHTFUL meal! My sister brought her dogs, so we really appreciated all the outdoor seating available--with live music on Sunday evening! The venue is gorgeous, facing Cibolo Creek, and the tables were well-spaced and had lovely views of the river. Our server was Erin, and she was SUPERLATIVE! We were initially seated close to the musicians, and we loved the music but the dogs' hearing was more acute, so Erin kindly moved us to another table that was perfect. She also helped guide us through the menu choices and suggested wine pairings that were a wonderful complement to the food. She was very attentive and checked on us frequently to ensure we were enjoying our meals. And our meals were DELICIOUS! My brother had Cindy's Heart of Boerne Salad, which was HUGE and had a plethora of fresh vegetables, from artichokes to mixed greens, as well as cranberries and pecans. I had the Fried Green BLT, which sported fried green tomatoes and was garnished with guacamole. And my sister had the Chicken Caesar Wrap, which was plump and full of grilled chicken. If you order a burger cut it in half before the server leaves. My husband ordered an Axis burger and it was RAW - not medium rare but bloody. No one came to check on us, had to flag down the hostess. Showed her the issue and she went to get the waitress. Had to wait another 10 mins. They removed the burger from the ticket .. but we're still charged for the side. The Dodging Duck is wonderful! The outdoor seating, sitting on the other side of the road from the river walk, live music and delicious food make it a truly enjoyable experience. For an appetizer we got the very best fried green tomatoes I've ever had, coupled with a delicious dipping sauce. Some craft German beer and it was perfect. For dinner, we got some perfectly grilled bratwurst, mashed potatoes and giant, warm soft pretzel with beer-cheese dipping sauce. The potatoes had bits of pork that tasted like it had been cooked with brown sugar; they were very sweet and benefited from some additional seasoning. Salt and pepper grinders were at the tables to season to taste. Not the cheapest place to eat, however the portions are big and the food quality was on par as well. The host and waitress were very friendly and the area it resides in is festive and fun. Definitely worth a visit. read more

We recently stopped into the Dodging Duck for lunch. This was my second time here and just like last time, I was impressed with the location, ambiance, service, and quality in the food! The restaurant is located right off the Main Street shopping area of downtown Boerne and along the Boerne Park Lake river walk. We ate outside in the tent area and which was plenty warm due to the outdoor heaters scattered throughout the dining space. We ordered the pretzel and fried green tomatoes for appetizers, and both we great, but I highly recommend trying the pretzel and dipping it into the various mustards they serve it with, especially the berry mustard! My wife enjoyed the fish and chips and I had one of the delicious burgers. Both the French fries and the chips were great. Overall I recommend the Dodging Duck as a great spot to grab a beer and casual meal in a spot with a perfect atmosphere for a conversation with friends and family. read more
