Very beautiful property. Had reservations on a Friday afternoon. Came here in winter time (late Feb) and their field mustard was in full bloom! So pretty. Glad we got to take pictures on their property instead of pulling over to the side of the road lol We were greeted by Irene who also did our pours. Felt very scripted as we heard her go from table to table with same info and very verbatim. Didn't get a connection from her sadly. They lay out all the pours for the tasting already on the table by the time you get seated. You get cheese and jam as well! The cab was definitely memorable. I visited Frog's Leap a couple of days ago for the first time in 15 years. I last came to this winery on my very first visit to the Napa Valley and I remember how friendly and kind the whole tasting experience was. I'm happy to report that I received the same warm welcome and service that I remembered all these years. I made an advance reservation through Yelp for 10:15 am on a Saturday. We arrived about 10 minutes early and the parking lot was already filling up. We walked into the beautiful reception house where we were greeted by a very friendly hostess. Although it was quite chilly, she had us set up at an outdoor table on the large wraparound porch. I was worried but they provided blankets and had overhead heaters that kept me plenty warm. Since we had several pickup parties at various wineries that afternoon, we opted to share one tasting. Our request was met with a "no problem," which I really appreciated. This wasn't a request because we are cheap, it's because one, we hate to waste wine and a shared tasting was plenty for us and two, we were doing lots more tasting and didn't want to drink too much wine. I felt bad asking to share because of the lovely table service setup, and your mileage may vary if you ask the same. I think because we were earlybirds on the weekend they accommodated us (and probably the fact that I'm a Gold Yelp Elite didn't hurt either)! The wine tasting is pricey at $35 per person, but it's seated and personally hosted. We were also brought a small plate of palate cleansers (I know the cheese, crackers and nuts aren't meant to be a meal, but the portion was ridiculously tiny). Soon after, we were greeted by our cute host. He arrived with a basket full of wine and poured several tasting portions while telling us all about each wine. I was most impressed with his knowledge and general demeanor. We were poured 6 wines in total, starting with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc (we also were treated to a splash of the special $95 Reserve Sauv Blanc), and the current release Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Merlot, and Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are organically farmed and the price points, for the most part, are reasonable. I wasn't a fan of any of the wines and I really tried to like them. My hubby thought the Zinfandel was pretty good, and he also liked the Rose that he spied in the gift shop on the way out (the nice lady working in the gift shop even got us a taste of the Rose to try)! After our tasting, we were offered an additional pour of our "favorite" wine to take with us as we were encouraged to take a stroll around the property. We decided to take them up on the offer and followed the easy walking path around the grounds. Make sure you take time to appreciate the pretty view and the farm-like atmosphere. There are vines to explore, fountains, and my favorite -- the chicken coop! After our brief stroll we stopped by the registers to settle up and check out the wines for sale. We picked up a bottle of the Rose and a bottle of Zinfandel (they'll make excellent gifts) and imagine my surprise when we were told that our tasting fee would be waived! That's excellent customer service and was a really nice thing to do! Frog's Leap is a dog-friendly and kid-friendly winery, so take note. I am one of those folks who think Napa's wineries are no place for children, and I think it looks very selfish if you head to wine country with your toddler in tow. However, it seems Frog's Leap is smart and tries very hard to keep parties with kiddos away from the adults. It appeared (and I don't know if this is always the case) that the hostess was seating families on the opposite side away from all-adult groups. They seem to cater to well-behaved canines too, with a welcome bucket of dog treats and a water bowl by the front door. This was a very friendly and pleasant experience and although I didn't really enjoy any of the wines, I'd recommend this winery to anyone visiting the area! read more

I have been a wine club member here now for years and it is well worth the money. Before covid they would have quarterly pick up parties for members which was always a fun time. During covid I have really enjoyed their Saturday live tasting with the owners. The wines are always delicious and I love how they stay affordable. The winery is beautiful and everyone who works here is incredibly friendly and I love that they remember me. Also they do allow dogs and our family dog Atticus always enjoyed coming here because he knew he would get a treat. Also they are now doing outdoor tastings which are limited due to restrictions but you can reserve online. I truly love Frog's Leap! read more

It was a Beautiful Day and the customer service for the tasting was the very best. We had a set route of some of our favorites and near the top was Frog's Leap and it did not disappoint. Skip Tours and save money for more wine, unless you have no idea of what wines to Taste and if this is the fact saunter in to this venue and enjoy the day, the tasting and then buy a bottle to sit and relax. We did the garden tour for two. You get 4 tastes and are able to walk around the grounds with your wine. It was truly beautiful! Jazz was our server/wine specialist and he was amazing! In my ten years of wine tasting across Napa and Sonoma, this has been by far my least pleasant experience. First, let me preface this by saying that I revere John Williams, the owner of Frog's Leap Winery, as a legendary vintner and pioneer in the Napa Valley region. I've made an effort to purchase at least 2 of his zinfandels every year from my local wine shop and it's been a long time goal of mine to visit the winery. Unfortunately my time there this past weekend was extremely disappointing. My friends and I had a large reservation of 12 people set for a Garden Bar tasting at 11:30AM. To be fair to the venue and its staff, half of our group came more than 30 minutes late and understandably only the people who were in attendance could be accommodated. After getting seated, our first wine host did a great job making us feel welcomed. Midway through our tasting, I asked for a menu of the winery's library reds, hoping to purchase one of their older vintage cabs. Our host noted how rare it is for patrons to inquire about older vintages but she graciously managed to dig up a list for me to look through. Moments later, a second wine host came to ask us if we were done, and if we wanted to make any purchases. I delightedly asked for a bottle of their 2012 cab, however that seemed to upset her. She stared at me in shock and disbelief as I noticed her gaze settling upon the sheet of vintage bottles in my hand. There was a noticeable level of agitation in her voice as she asked me, "Where did you get that paper?!" Her interrogative tone made it seem like I somehow managed to get a hold of their most secret menu which she immediately snatched out of my hand. Our group then uncomfortably watched her walk over to question and berate our original wine host for handing us the list. She eventually came back with another set of questions. "Are you really sure that you want to get this wine? This wine is all the way in the back in the warehouse somewhere. We might not even have it. We'll need to get someone to get it for you." I have never been denigrated by a wine host for wanting to buy wine. Perhaps their warehouse is some maze, and it takes a herculean task for a staff member to retrieve wine, and that I'm unworthy of their effort. I picked up my bottle at the front and walked out to my car. Fortunately, I pulled out the bottle from the bag to double check. Instead of the 2012 cab, they gave me a 2012 zinfandel. They apologized and I left with my 2012 cab. But I could have easily driven home not only disrespected, but significantly overcharged from my wine purchase at Frog's Leap. My experience was an exemplar for future wine hosts on how to drive away their customers and discourage guests from becoming wine members. Other than being held against my will, there is no way that I'll ever visit Frog's Leap again. read more

I'm not very knowledgeable about wine, so I can't comment on the wines themselves. However, I found the overall experience to be quite disappointing. It was a cold and rainy day, and we were taken to a half-open space beside the stairs. There were no chairs, and the person who poured us wine seemed dispassionate and unenthusiastic. We had a fantastic time tasting at Frog's Leap!!! I made a reservation of 4 through yelp. When we checked in we were given a glass of rosé that was very refreshing and tasty. We were given a quick little tour of the garden and then seated at a beautiful table spread. The tasting was $45 and including the most amazing cheese, crackers, almonds and jam (made from fruit on the property). All of the wines were quite good, and our wonderful host Seth even gave us a taste of their 2015 cab sauv (which was sooo tasty!!!). Seth was so knowledgeable and we learned so much about the wine + winery! I ended up taking a bottle home of the Zinfandel and cannot wait to drink it. This was one of the best wine tours we've ever been on. Yes, during a global pandemic and wildfires, they were sincere, personable, and safe. Our hosts were knowledgeable, informative, and answered our questions (even the mundane were taken seriously and without making me feel ignorant). Overall we thought the wines were pretty good, but nothing in particular stood out to us. Our server was extremely nice and even gave us a bunch of recommendations for places to check out in Paso (our next stop of our trip), 5 stars for him for sure. We made a reservation at Frog's Leap based on previous reviews. None of us had gone to Napa before and we didn't know where to go or what to expect. After visiting four tasting rooms/wineries during a short trip, I can say Frog's Leap was the epitome of visiting a vineyard and the best "classic" experience. Not only do you have a gorgeous view during the tasting, afterwards, you can walk around the grounds. Our sommelier was very knowledgeable and he was happy to share his own experience and opinions. This vineyard has a long history so that is also interesting to hear, how they got the grapes used in the wine you are sampling and how they got the name of the place. This was the first stop of many my wonderful husband planned for my 35th birthday. We arrived around 10. There was already a small crowd already there, glasses in hand. Our tour guide came up and gave us each a pour of white wine (pinot Grigio? I cannot even recall lol). After we each received our tasting, we ventured outside for a tour of the winery. We checked out their barns, their barrel room, even their gardens. It was a nice day out despite the rain. Each stop, another pour. All the wines were wonderful, honestly, haven't heard of the winery before, but it was a nice intro to the wines Napa valley has to offer. Frog's Leap has long been one of my favorite wineries. No, they are not the top producer of - whatever - in the Valley, but all their wines are drinkable, well crafted and affordable, something that the winemaker takes to heart. For my wife's first trip to Napa, I wanted to take her here for a tour, because it is a small, fun tour. You need reservations, and they limit it to about 8 at a time, but for 1/2 the price of a tasting at some other places, you get a peek into the winery with a knowledgeable guide, and you get to taste 6 or so wines along the way. There is not a lot of need to do multiple tours, but this one is worth taking. Even if they did take down the basketball hoop for the free 1/2 bottle of wine. read more

Tried this winery for the first time on Sunday. Frog's Leap offers two options, the Garden Tour ($20pp) and the Signature Seated Tasting ($25pp). We opted for the Signature Seated Tasting and really enjoyed our experience. Our hostess was very friendly and gave great insight into the different wines, even showing us where many of the grapes were grown. The wine was really high quality. I had only ever had frog's leap wine at Gott's Roadside Diner, and usually only the white wines.. but I was really blown away by their reds.. (personal favorite was the Cabernet)! The cheese plate that came with the signature tasting was a little... scarce.. and I was really skeptical when they set it down. However - the cheese was sooo delicious and we were offered another cheese plate when it was finished. The hospitality and overall relaxed ~vibe~ was what I enjoyed most about Frog's Leap. Our hostess offered us multiple different tastes after we finished the initial wines (loved the Petite Syrah and actually ended up buying a bottle). Additionally, you could wander around the beautiful estate during your tasting and there was no pressure to get you to leave, purchase wine, join the club etc. Super relaxing - think spa vibes but for a winery. Everyone was so friendly and I probably could've spent hours exploring the garden and taking in the views. Probably not too much of a difference between the Garden and Signature tasting - I feel like my favorite part was really the gardens and outside area, so would probably stick with the Garden tasting next time. I recommend coming on a sunny day to be able to fully enjoy this winery! Will be back again soon. read more

Learned about how they are not just a sustainable winery, but 'restorative'. Not 100% sure that is the right word used, but the idea is they put more into the ground than they take out. One negative was their reservation system, which made it so you had to call them to make a reservation that included kids. It wasn't easy reaching someone and even the confirm didn't identify them in our party. Also, when we arrived I got a text thanking me for my $500 wine purchase. I was told it was mistakenly sent to me and my card was not charged, but left me a bit uneasy until I could confirm this at the end of my trip. I visited your lovely winery over 10 years ago. Since then I purchase your wine and enjoy it because of the experience I had there. Our host was incredibly kind and engaging. I brag to my friends about the wine and always recommend it. I'm not sure what changed but my visit yesterday left me feeling sad about my experience. Our guide asked about my itinerary - I spent hours on back in January - making reservations and planning routes. She proceeded to criticize almost all of my choices and explained why she knew best. I was embarrassed in front of my friends and really wanted to leave. We stayed and as always the wine was incredible. Just an average, regular day of wine tasting. Nothing too special or unique. I feel so left out since they have all these great 5 star reviews, I just didn't get that same vibe from the atmosphere... We went back in December and felt that this was more of a once and done type of place, we did the garden tasting ($25/person) and this allows you & your group to freely walk the grounds. They have a live garden to walk through but that's pretty much it. The only thing I think would make me come back for is the porch tasting (since they offer it with a cheese plate) otherwise, nothing else really speaks to me about this winery... I was going to buy a 1994 vintage Cab for my boyfriend's birthday but their system was really slow and it was taking too long. Since we had another winery appointment that we were running late for already we just said forget it. If you like the freedom of drinking at your leisure than this might be a place for you. It looks like they have plenty of room (outside) for large groups so that's a good thing. We didn't get to learn anything about the history or family behind Frog's leap so we looked it up online ourselves. Just come here if you're looking to drink and not get anything out of it. "The finest way to learn about anything is to experience it. " Let me first start by saying... their red barn is everything! I was actually hesitant to go to our appointment because we ended up sneaking Caymus in beforehand and it's really hard for anything to top that, but my boyfriend didn't let us skip and I'm really happy we didn't as he turned down their driveway. While I adore Caymus for their wine, the experience is much different than Frog's Leap. Frog's Leap is everything you want out of a wine tasting experience. The porch is lovely, reminded me a lot of the wrap around porch at Duckhorn and what's so nice about this area is each place is a different experience, which is nice during your stay - doing the same thing over and over even for someone like me who loves it, will grow mundane. The house is beautiful and the grounds and gardens are perfect for a stroll. We tasted their 13 Chardonnay, 12 Zin, 12 Merlot and 12 Cab, then the awesome guys up front gave us a couple glasses of their 12 Petite Sirah and Heritage Blend to wander around the gardens with. Everything was a bit lighter than I usually like but I don't think we disliked anything. Surprisingly I preferred their Zin and Merlot over the Cab. The cheese, cracker and jam plate that arrived with our tasting was also very nice. We really enjoyed ourselves and I'd definitely add them to our must visit list for the future. read more

What a beautiful, relaxing place this is. Frog's leap was our third winery of the day... We had a reservation so as soon as we walked in our table was ready. Outside, looking to the vineyards and gardens, it was perfect to wind (or wine) down after a full day of driving and tasting. We had 4 wines to taste, as it usually happens, the reds were my favorites but, what I liked most about this winery was the atmosphere. As I said it is very relaxing. They come to your table, pour the wines, tell you a little bit of each one and then walk away allowing you to enjoy the wine and scenery. When they see you are almost finish with one or two, they come back to ask what you thought of them and to serve you more if you want and you just sit there, enjoying the wine, view and the breeze, conversing with the people you came with. We each decided to get an extra pour of the wine we liked most and, glass in hand, walked the gardens. This place is beautiful. They have rocking chairs right by the vineyard, they also have some wooden chairs by a little hut looking bar where you can get more wine if needed. We sat on those chairs, enjoyed our wine, and took it all in. It was the perfect ending to our wine tasting day. read more

They have put together a wine country experience that is unforgettable - from the furry friend who greets you, to the wraparound porch to taste wine on, to the expensive garden grounds that you're free to stroll in...you will not leave unsatisfied. I came to the winery with my family (4 of us of course due to COVID) Since the moment we arrived the hospitality was so warming, Laura started us off with a pink rose from Mendocino, so delicious, then we had a tour by Don Manuel who was The absolute best, gave us some history about the winery and how it started, informed us about the wines we were tasting. I was never really a fan of red wines up until now, I was introduced to some great red wines ( of course I had to purchase some wine bottles after our tour) I'm beyond happy with how the tour and service was at the Frog's Leap Winery, I highly recommend coming here for wine tasting and the great hospitality, everyone was so welcoming especially if this is your first time wine tasting I really recommend coming here. This weekend a couple of friends of mine decided to go to Napa for wine tasting. Frog leap was our first stop. The winery itself is beautiful!!! From the outside you can see a barn, vineyard, pond and a huge house converted into a relax spot. The package we picked between 7 girls were 5 tastings for $20.00, which was a great deal. For wine's they served us Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Rutherford (Cabernet Sauvignon ), and Petite Sirah. Our wines also came with almonds, gouda, and bread sticks. We didn't stay long only because we were rushing to our next winery stop. I recommend making a stop here! read more

In summary, they are family friendly, the property really is very pretty, with lots of paths for the kids to explore, and I thought several of the wines were very good. There were a handful of families with kids, and the property includes a brand new chicken coop as well as a big pond (although we did not spot any frogs). We ended up being seated in the garden, which Ian beautiful, although the kids are supposed to stay seated for the entire tasting and that was a tall order for our toddler when he saw other kids roaming to the pond and examining the bees, of which there are hundreds. We also had a chance to explore later, guided by Scott who was kind enough to show us the new chicken coop and the oak and concrete barrel room. Reserve early as the tasting capacity isn't large, with 3-4 other tables in the garden and a handful of tables on the porch as well. I was lucky they were able to squeeze us in with not a lot of notice. The wine tasting was actually quite good - I had only had a Frogs Leap wine once before so I wasn't familiar, but I liked their Sauvignon blanc, their merlot was complex, and their cab was good as well (not as big and bold as our usual, lighter, and probably a little more fruit forward). Other tables clearly went for their Zinfandel which we did not appreciate. The winemaker is very committed to irrigation free winemaking and allowing the terroir to be reflected in the wines. We were told that he was not as focused on catering to the prevailing wine palate and hence the wines were a bit different. When you buy 6 bottles you get one tasting fee deducted. We also enjoyed the bread and pretzels which came with fromage blanc and a Dijon mustard spread. Overall I recommend visiting - beautiful visit. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. A group of 4 of us visited 12 wineries over a span of 3 days, and without question, Frogs Leap was by far the MOST DISAPPOINTING. The tasting consisted of only 3 wines, none of which were very special. One was a warm and cloudy Sauvignon Blanc, the other two were light-bodied reds (Merlot and a Cab) that tasted like inexpensive table wines. Service felt very rushed and it wasn't even very busy there (this is on a Monday). When one of us asked if we could try a different wine, the server said she had to see if they had a bottle open, and then came back with one tasting glass. Every other winery would have brought a taste for all four of us. Our other 11 wineries all offered far better wines and far better experiences. Not coming back here. Ever. read more

We aren't huge drinkers, but this is by far our favorite winery in Napa. It's wonderfully comfortable, pleasant, and beautiful. There's a gorgeous house (with an elderly orange cat), a small farm (with chickens and goats), and a really cute little pond (with some fish). It's a great place to spend a leisurely few hours, and our almost-2-year-old enjoyed seeing the animals. In theory, at least - she was kind of freaked out by the rooster. Last Thursday we enjoyed a wine tasting ($20 for 4 wines, cheese, crackers, nuts, dried fruit) on some couches on the back patio. Loved the casual setting and the scenery; we'll definitely be back next time we head up to wine country. As an added bonus there's an olive oil mill (Round Pond) nearby; we'll probably schedule a tour/tasting there next time. read more
