As I sip my cup of Oceana Blend this morning I realized I'm getting more than just my caffeine fix....I am taking notes with via the instruction received during my coffee cupping experience last weekend. Acidity, Body, Flavor - a full wheel of terminology and ratings to choose from when determining what your palate appeals to in this wonderful world of coffee. Front Porch not only offers fresh roasted coffee by the cup, they have a wide range of beans to choose from to take home. There is a smattering of merchandise including great to go cups, ceramic mugs, local art and of course t-shirts (what would a business at the beach be without their t-shirt offerings?). They also carry a variety of teas, pre packaged. There are pastries, bagels and some other choices of food to go with your beverage of choice, but all of this is secondary to the good customer service and wonderful coffee they have to offer. I enjoy, really enjoy small businesses who's owners and staff are passionate about the venture they are surrounded by - and it conveys that Front Porch is having fun doing what they do which is making great coffee! read more

This is my favorite coffee place ever. You can tell as I drove 3.5 hrs from my home to the Outer Banks to stock up. It's a local coffee shop with branches in Nags Head and Kitty Hawk NC. They have organic and Swiss water process options as well as all the coffee drinks you can ask for. Their cookies are massive, my nephew gets one every time we visit. Love this place! I really want to compliment this shop for their warm hospitality and safety measures. When I walked in, there was clear directions on where to wait and how to space out. Everyone was wearing proper masks. My latte was the best I've had in a long time. I loved their sugar free english toffee syrup. The pastries were so flaky and good. I will definitely be back. Great coffee shop to visit in OBX. The shop is quite big and has plenty of seating. The service was fast and friendly, and the coffee was great (I ordered the coconut cold brew). Plus they have tons of stickers, cups, etc. to shop from, which is always a nice surprise in a coffee shop. I will be stopping by the next time I'm in the area. read more

I'm not a coffee person but the rest of my group is and they love FPC! I love their muffins - the banana walnut is to die for! White Chocolate Raspberry Mocha is my daughter's favorite if she is not ordering Tea! It is a nice morning walk from our house which is a great way to burn off the muffin I get! I was excited to try a local coffee shop instead of the usual Starbucks. We went in, waited in line which was fine. We got up to the counter and I ordered on tap kombucha. The cashier mumbled something about there being no kombucha with a straight face and an attitude. So my husband and I ordered our coffee. My 4 year old saw lollipops sitting on the counter and asked for one. They were not labeled. After asking the cashier, we were informed that they are made from espresso. Seemed like the cashier was having a bad day.... Or something. She had an extreme attitude and no happiness or friendliness whatsoever. Sorry (not sorry) but this makes or breaks an establishment. People DONT want to be treated like they're an inconvenience by visiting YOUR store. And the Coffee was nothing to write home about. We will stick to Starbucks. read more

Best frapp so far. They pull their own expresso shots and my husband the coffee connoisseur is still raving half way through his. He got a bacon cinnamon roll and I got a scone which had carmelized sugar all around the bottom. read more

This place is great! They offer a variety of specialty drinks. I ordered the honey almond soy latte and it was delicious! We also got some of their spinach and feta croissants which were also great! They have a nice selection of bakery items. They also have fresh kombucha which I thought was pretty cool. The place is pretty large and a great place to relax. Everywhere we go I seek out a favorite coffee shop. We usually have breakfast over coffee and a pastry and read the paper--the NY Times if we can find it. In Kill Devil Hills, my favorite is Front Porch Café. What's not to like? It has a large, clean, bright dining room with plenty of seats and free wi-fi. (You can't drink coffee without free wi-fi.) It's also a bakery with excellent baked goods. I enjoyed the cinnamon bun and my wife loved her strawberry croissant. The coffee was outstanding. They also have an extensive wine selection. An odd place. They acted like jerks. They offer few seating options. They have only one small table inside. Connected next door there are plenty of tables in a pottery shop where classes are held. I sat at one of the tables in that room and a staffer asked me to move to plug my laptop in elsewhere because a class was going to start there -- in 30 minutes. There was no place to move to except two stools where I would have had to ask other people to move their stuff and cram in next to them, even though we were in a big, empty room. Why not see if I was still there 5 or 10 minutes before the class started? I would have been gone. Now I'll just stay away. They don't seem to want people to linger with their coffee. And my scone was stale. I am writing this from the Starbucks down the road where I have lots of options for sitting. read more

Cute little place. We stopped here for breakfast on a Saturday. I ordered spinach and feta in phyllo pastry and a raspberry cream cheese croissant. Both were really good. I loved the savory one. It was crispy, flaky and really good. My hubby ordered a vegan smoothie bowl which was good too. Will be back next time we are in outerbanks. read more

Finally, something to rave about in the Outer Banks! First, the atmosphere, you get that real coffee place warm and fuzzy feeling from the moment you walk in. They roast their own coffee so all your senses are indulged from the beginning. The woman who greeted us was oozing kindness, warmth, fun, friendliness and so much more. The coffee: on par or better than any I've had, and we're very picky about our coffee in Chicago since we spend most of our lives indoors. There's a lovely pottery place attached, where the tables are for you to sit at, and you can pick a piece and make your own art. There's also a bead place next to that. All exude the warm and cozy feeling. You really can't go wrong coming here and bring some beans home with you while you're at it! Their muffins are to die for! read more

I've not had a chance to frequent Front Porch as I would like, but when I do it never disappoints. The West 3rd coffee I had today was great and if I lived closer I would so be in here every chance I got. Also, there is a good selection of coffee beans and although the store is relatively small, the service is great and the fresh pastries top off a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend Front Porch if you're on the Outer Banks. read more

Stopped for a cappuccino and to nurse my son. Nice, quiet atmosphere. The baristas were very nice and there is ample seating. Looked like there were a few groups of people having meetings and working on their laptops. The decor is very cute and the coffee was great! read more

I stopped here while passing through Kill Devil Hills. It has a tricky one-way parking lot but once you're there, it's worth a stop. The menu is extensive and features a lot of various yummy combination sweet caffeine drinks. I didn't really study the menu too much as I was so happy they had internet access. I don't believe they had wifi but they certainly had little stations where you could plug into network cables. The seating was generous and quite extensive. A mix of tables and high tables exist with booths. All of the furniture in the store was just really nice and it was a lot nicer than I expected. Everything was clean. But yes, if you're on the road and looking to hop on the internet quick - its a good place to hop in and get a drink and chill out. Good atmosphere. read more

I come here a lot and the coffee is absolutely amazing ,this rreview is based off the brunette tall lady at the register . She is extremely rude, short , and seems very unhappy to be there . No "hello" ,no "how are you today" ,no "you're welcome" , and not one smile. Damn near rolled her eyes right when I walked in and acted like checking me out and taking my order was the biggest chore of her day . There are three different locations of Front Porch Cafe, all owned by the same great people. This one, in KDH, Manteo and Nags Head. They all are top-notch in my book, coffee is the same, food is the same, atmospheres are different. Check out my other two reviews to find out about the other locations. Front Porch Cafe in KDH is the original store. Quaint, cute, small, there is limited seating, but the staff here is amazing. Maria is the best barista ever. Yes, I said it, EVER! She truly cares about the customer and providing them with the best coffee around. Don't know what you want?? Let Maria make you something special. Tell her a few of your favorite flavors or let her start from scratch. She's sure to make you a drink that is amazing. And hey, you might just find your signature concoction. Food is good here, as well. Don't expect a heavy lunch, sandwiches, or anything of the sorts. This is a coffee shop, and while they have plenty to offer in terms of food, it's pastry items, scones, muffins and bagels, if you are looking for good coffee and a breakfast item this is the place to be. Oh and they have delicious cookies baked fresh daily! My recommendation: Go for a Morning Wake-up of Iced coffee and an everything bagel with cream cheese. read more

The first sip of Kill Devil Coffee I ever took actually left me speechless, I love this coffee and what the company is about and have only encountered a few coffee's that closely relate to this (all being on the west coast). If your in the Outer Banks and your thinking coffee this is the place you want to go! Even if your in the state of North Carolina this is where you want to go! Good coffee with a strong commitment to being local. Plenty of seating in their attached paint pottery shop. As long as the pottery store is not open, you can take a large group here and everyone will have a seat inside to sip o. Their coffee and enjoy a muffin. The pottery place opens at 10 am. They sell the local Kill Devil Hills coffee. No place to plug in your laptop, which they will direct you to their other location which is well equipped with outlets. Free wifi. read more

FRESH SQUEEZED JUICE - GREAT COFFEE!! I love that they offer fresh, squeezed juice, and that they have great coffee. Those two pluses make this place a "yay" for me, but then they also have great food and I love the atmosphere. It is just one of the many, privately owned places on the OBX that make the OBX so special. read more
