This place is INSANE. They bake their bread fresh daily and it's so soft. A whole sandwich is 2 feet long and a half sandwich is a foot long. The guy working was super nice and told us about a couple of specials they had off of the menu. My boyfriend went for the chicken caesar sandwich, and I got a candied bacon BLT sandwich (soooo good the sauce on it was delicious). He said it'd be the best sandwich we'd have in Memphis. There is a counter inside where you could eat, but I think it might be a little awkward given the close quarters. There are also outside tables on the side walk, which would be ideal in the warmer months. However, if it is cooler, I recommend ordering and taking it to go. I would also recommend calling ahead given the wait. I'm not sure why, but all the sandwiches are named after Tom Cruise's movies. There were a lot of nice options. I appreciated that the bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and there was a nice ratio of meat to toppings. They also have an impressive variety of gourmet sauces that add a special "something something" to the sandwiches. My wife and I were living in Memphis for a month, two blocks from Front Street and this Deli. Stopped in the first day for a fresh breakfast and loved all The Firm and Tom Cruise memorabilia. Stopped in a 2nd day, chatted with the owner both times while our sandwiches, excellent egg and bacon on a croissant, were being prepared. The next day, I walked into a burger bar and the Front Street Deli owner calls out my name, as I walked in, in a town where I was a stranger. The man is a Memphis ambassador. He and his partner welcome you, introduce you to other neighbors, and of course, it made me look at the lunch menu, which was just as good as the breakfast sandwiches. This place is so close to being awesome. Many of the sandwiches are great with gourmet touches that elevate this sandwich shop above a lennys. For the issues, the lack of drink options and no tea! For the south this is unacceptable. Also the sub bread can be very dry and unappealing when it is not fresh. I have started only ordering sandwiches with the onion roll or rye. And finally it's a small shop that's fine so I have learned to call ahead with my order, but getting someone to answer the phone and having my order ready still seems to be a problem.
