This is my important updated review. All the old reviews were worst and now this is the best of worst. My Austin flight got delayed by 5 hours so they gave us $150 credit. I used that to book a flight to Denver for my family ($300 credit). The cancelled the return flight after 6hrs of waiting in Denver airport. I was with my infant 1year old. After they cancel the flight they said they will issue refund or else I need to wait in Denver for 4 days to catch the Friday flight. Sounds really bad and I have never seen anything worst in airlines. I was asking them to consider giving the next day flight as I have the 1 yr old infant who was not feeling well. But they doesn't care. I have no other reason but only spend $800 in Southwest to return back to San Jose.. They got hold of my infant car seat as well, they stated that the bag got stuck. The customer service is terrible. Of all the above funny thing, when I asked for my flight refund, they said you used voucher which we cannot return back...balance payment only we can return back which is $14... Have had multiple encounters with staff of Frontier....Flights cancelled, delayed, lost luggage- Frontier offers NO assistance. Recently needed to cancel a flight due to a long delay, counter staff offered to cancel the flight and refund our money- she did NOT cancel Or refund, and customer service stated they could not help me. Counter staff also forwarded our luggage to Las Vegas, not Spokane. Unreal! The staff in luggage were also Little to no help. Stated that it was OUR responsibility to cancel our flight. We will NEVER fly this airline again, and advise others to avoid it also. read more

You get what you pay for. Frontier is a budget airlines and can be less expensive than other carriers but you have to pay for EVERYTHING. Only water is free. Their customer service is ok. We have had issues with most of our flights from SFO-DEN. The first time flying Frontier, our flight was cancelled. We were rebooked to fly out on the day we were to return from our trip, which doesn't make sense. They couldn't rebook us on any day before our return date because all other flights were full. We had to cancel our trip entirely. The 2nd time flying went smoothly but we paid extra for everything, seats, all bags, food, just to make sure things went smoothly. At least water was free! The 3rd time, and most recent trip, flying SFO-DEN started with a 4 hour delayed flight. On a positive note, at least it wasn't cancelled. Boarding went smoothly and the flight attendants were friendly. On our way back our flight was delayed by 45 min. When we checked in our bags, the attendant at DEN had us put our 2 car seats on a blue cart for oversized luggage instead of putting them on the luggage belt. My husband has a bad feeling about this. Sure enough he was correct and when we landed at SFO at 11:30pm our car seats did not make it. The attendant at baggage claim for Frontier had horrible customer service and was actually rude. My husband asked her if she worked for Frontier and she said "yes, I just didn't wear my uniform tonight". How you get away with that and still have a job, I'm not too sure. He told her what happened at DEN but she already knew the situation. Apparently this happens often. She ended up taking us to a room that had extra car seats snd other items so we could get 2 (brand new) car seats to get us home. She said that Frontier would send our car seats to our address once they arrived. We witnessed this same attendant be incredibly rude to a family, also flying from DEN, whose cooler didn't make it. She didn't a a acknowledge them when they tried to get her attention. She just seemed frustrated and not happy with her job. I'm not sure if we will fly Frontier again after these experiences. I'm not sure if flight delays/cancellations, losing our car seats, not so friendly staff who don't seem to care, and paying for everything is really worth it. read more

Listen to the reviews! Do not fly on this airline despite the enticement of the cheap prices. After my first experience with this airline, I will never go back, not even with the free $100 voucher that they gave. I had a flight with this airline on Sunday and they delayed our flight by 6 hours, without sending a text message or email until hours before the flight. The baggage system is atrocious. What kind of airline charges ridiculous prices for checked bag??? Not to mention that there is no WiFi on the flight and no organization what so ever when entering in the plane. I get it there needs to be an airline that is cheap to compete with expensive airline flight prices. Until you're stranded cause your flight got canceled. If I can give this airline 0 stars I would. I missed my flight with 2 children and I purchased 3 additional tickets. Right after the payment went through I was told the flight was cancelled and I will not be able to get a refund. The woman at the customer service desk was so rude to me, and showed no remorse that she took the payment and the flight was canceled. I asked if I could use the money to put towards another flight leaving that same day and I was told no. The CSA told me I had to pay again for another flight. I was so upset I just walked away and booked a flight with another airline. I would NEVER use frontier again. Fool me once shame on you, you won't get a chance to fool me twice. read more

Great airline if you're looking to fly simple and basic! I had to catch a last minute flight from a flight change and the staff at Frontier Airlines made sure I was directed and accommodated. I booked 2 RT tix for our church pastors and i was shocke to find out that this airline charges a seating fee, "purse" fee, carry ons and checked in luggage. Seriously seating fee??? It ranges from $28-$60 per seat/ per way.... after adding all the extra fees the price of tix jumped from $130pp RT to $$250pp. Wow. Never will i even use this airline for anything. I am surprised that it is still in busines when Southwest has eveeything for free even the 1st two checked in baggage. read more

This is the worst experience I've ever had with an airline period. The situation went like this: I bought a ticket and got there with an hour to spare....to check in etc etc. I went to the counter at the SFO airport and was told that they were no longer accepting suitcases\bags and that I couldn't get on my $650.00 flight. I called customer service and was told they had the ability to put me on another flight they just wouldn't do it. It wasn't too bad if you know EXACTLY what you're getting into. For a quick trip to Vegas, at less than $60 round trip, it turned out fine. Sure, I had to make sure that I had no set time to get there by - flight was delayed for a few hours. But was given a $10 meal voucher, and without prompting a $25 flight credit voucher showed up in my email the very same day. Also didn't have much more than a backpack to bring so could avoid the bag fee. It was a short flight so didn't need to choose my seat or recline it anyway. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Decided to fly Frontier again. It was much better this time compared to last time. As long as you understand that the price is broken up in to each thing (the airfare, the carry on bag price, the check bag price, price to choose your seat, etc) then it's okay. My most recent flights took of and landed on time and the price was good even after adding in the price for the carry on bag. The seats aren't the most comfortable and there is just barely enough leg room for me at 5'10" so I imagine anyone over 6' is going to be a bit cramped. One of my neighbors called to rebook her grandkids flight and it was apparently cancelled for reasons neither me and her could fully understand and then she was trying to rebook the flight and the people don't even speak English or Spanish so we had to try exceptionally hard to listen to some Indian guys accent and he for some reason that we didn't understand he didn't rebook it and she read the confirmation number someone else that was more helpful had told us and he didn't understand so she had to start going like l for Lucy n for Nancy I for igloo p for pain and so on and he didn't understand the destination and barely the departure airport I'm not going to fly with them if even this is bad god knows what else is gonna be bad thank god her grandkids are flying with them and not me but I pray for her grandkids I really do...... read more

I'm used to Southwest Airlines. These guys do not know customer service. Tried them once and it wi be the last time. We had a weekend set for Las Vegas. The morning of our trip. The flight was cancelled. Got an email saying here is $50 credit but no word on the cancellation. After digging deeper, they booked us on a flight for the following day. They did absolutely nothing to get us on another fight. Original flight was noon. They said they don't work with other airlines. We had to buy a last minute ticket on southwest. Cost is $300 more each. By the way. Southwest cancelled a fight last night and I easily rebooked on another flight an hour later. They actually used to be a decent airline but recent changes make it one of the worst. I fly 20-30 times a year and they are now terrible. They charge for everything (water, carry on baggage that doesn't fit under the seat, TV, snacks) and claim to pass on savings by giving you more choices.BS. Total cost ends up being much more $ and that creates unhappy customers, who then complain endlessly to the poor attendants who are just following rules. This wears on the attendants and that, in my opinion, make them very inhospitable in return. How would you feel if people were complaining to you all day at work? And their customer service over the phone is horrendous as well. I called twice and was on hold for a half hour each time. Stay away. read more

Frontier Airlines is the worst! San Jose to Vegas on Thursday we were delayed at the gate for maintenance. Then they didn't load the kids car seats. They said the earliest flight they could send the car seats on was SUNDAY night. When we were leaving. So they Fed Ex'd them and we got them by Saturday. ‍ Now we've been at the airport since 7:30 and our flight has been delayed so many times now it's around 2am. This is my very first Yelp review because Frontier is THAT awful. Since June of 2019 I have had 3 cancelled flights which turned into 4 flight vouchers. With each voucher I have scheduled a new flight and BAM that one was cancelled too. The customer service manager can't even help me because she AGAIN wants to give me another voucher. How can I plan a trip when each flight has turned into a nightmare of rebooking? One of the flight was cancelled just as I arrived at the airport. I am now out of pocket over $1000.00 because of the day of flight I had to buy plus the $400 in voucher that I will never see again according to them. I understand they have protocol but after 3 cancelled flights you would think there was something they could do. I am still waiting on a response but "Chris" didn't seem to eager to help. If you get anything out of this review, if you plan to actually travel, don't use Frontier, if will be one headache after another and you will never actually get to or from your location. read more

Flight out of SF was delayed 4 hours so I missed my connector to Syracuse. Went to the counter and was told that me missing my flight was "not their problem" and theres nothing they could do. What???? Not your problem???? Your plane was 4 hours late!!! Whatever, had to spend $300 to get a same day ticket to Syracuse. Worst airline I have ever flown! ZERO customer service, they cancelled our flight to Vegas run SJ. Was on the phone for two hours trying to figure out how we were going to get to Vegas. Ended up having to pay another $300 per ticket one way to Vegas. They feel that even though it doesn't even come close to the expenses incurred even for the original ticket, they feel that a $50 voucher for future travel on THEIR airline is more than enough compensation! First time flying frontier. And the last. I'm super understanding when it comes to things that come about unexpectedly. But I've been waiting to leave for a flight 4 hours now due to a tire situation none of us know much about other then they haven't done anything to the tire as we can see it from the window. I had a really good experience flying Frontier SFO to Denver and then Denver to Detroit. They were prompt and the staff was very friendly and helpful. On the plane, the seats were really comfortable and I had a lot of leg room. They had DirectTV on the flight which you could purchase for $6 or get for free if you are a preferred flier. There is complimentary water/soft drinks/coffee/etc and they give out hot cookies! Needless to say after I got my cookie, I was sold. read more

Flight 1980 SJC-Las Vegas 9/14/18 Published time: 6:30 pm The plane arrived late. Once boarding was announced passenger lined up in the jet bridge we were asked to go back to the terminal and we've standing since then. No explanation or regard for passengers. The ground crew was clueless first then said the captain called for a maintenance check. Still standing. The person whos making announcement has a severe cold and sore throat according to herself and we cannot hear anything on her announcements as they sound like someones whispering. Several other ground crew walking around cracking jokes but not helping with audible communication. 8:28 pm...simply a horrible experience if ones traveling with family. Update: i was supposed to conduct business which is now deferred to tomorrow thereby making my whole day and effort to get to the airport and fly to Vegas tonight went down the drain. Thanks Frontier - you suck big time and do not deserve a recommendation but hey wait! You don't care to begin with. How can a plane fly here and be that unsafe it cant continue. The reason provided is theres lots of paperwork the maintenance guy needs to sign...lame. 9:23 on the the plane but still haven't taken off. After paying $70 for seat upgrade I was told I cannot out my small backpack in the bin it has to be under the front seat. When i questioned the logic i was told since your bag is small and then attendant shoved it under the seat and told me to put my feet on it. When i said I paid extra for priority boarding and leg room (Perks) why cant I use the upper bin I was told I have to purchase it. It is a budget airline and that is exactly what you get. Do not expect luxurious seats and fancy menus. Seats do not recline. But overall, the cabin crew was polite and nice. Both of our flights were delayed, yes. One for 4 hours due to the airplane maintenance issue. They had to fly in an airplane from Las Vegas to bring us back to SFO. We were given $15 meal voucher and a $100 flight voucher for future flight. Still waiting on that to show up on my email. By the way, voucher never happened, as they denied ever telling us that we will be provided with a future travel voucher. But you cannot beat $260 roundtrip fare. Would not recommend for people with leg problems or for longer than 5 hour flights. read more

ZERO star if I could. They charge you $40 for EACH checked bag AND each carry-on bag!!! So add $80 to see the REAL ticket price! An advertised $100 ticket suddenly becomes $200 (DOUBLED in PRICE!). This is just a total SCAM. All name brand airlines don't charge carry-on bags. I should have gone with the name-brand airlines. This airline should have been BANNED by FCC! I will never ever fly Frontier Airlines again. I had a flight from Denver to San Jose. When I got to the Denver airport, they told me my flight had been cancelled, and they could offer me a rebate. They would not get me booked on another airline, I had to do that myself ...at my own additional expense. When I called Frontier to get a rebate they talked about, the gave me a song and dance, but NO money or ever a "by your leave". This is totally disgusting and dishonest customer service. Frontier? I strongly suggest reading all the reviews and then listening to them when they state this is a horrible company. I have only in all my 36 years of life felt the need to leave a review once or twice and usually don't feel it's worth my time. This company upset me enough that I decided I needed to share and hope I can save others the headaches I received from them and avoid going through them yourselves. I wouldn't even rate them one star... but apparently have to for the review to go through. We booked a flight awhile back and one way was with Frontier and the other flight was with United. Covid hit and we didn't feel safe flying and had to cancel our flight. United gave us a year to reschedule and assumed Frontier did the same but apparently only gave 3 months. We tried to call and see if we could work out a way to not just lose the money since still in a pandemic and not recommended to fly, but after almost an hour on hold to talk to a manager we were unsuccessful. They came Off very robotic and non sympathetic and wouldn't listen to any reasoning. If you are looking for a cheap flight these might be your company but you get what you pay for and hope you don't have to deal with the customer service... by far the worst I've ever dealt with. read more

SFO to Denver (12/26/17): delayed by 1 hour. Denver to SFO (12/29/17): delayed by 30 minutes and counting. In my book, one delay is acceptable because things happen, but 2 delays? That's starting to look like a pattern. I'm never flying with Frontier Airlines again. I would give them a zero star rating if I could. I purchased a flight to travel to Atlanta Georgia (April 2020), and had to cancel due to COVID travel band. I then rescheduled the flight for June and again couldn't make the trip due to safety concerns during COVID. So, today, I call to reschedule a flight scheduled 15 days away and I was told that I had to pay $199+ in fees for changing my reservation. Really? We are in the midst of a pandemic and most people are making the best guesstimate about future travel plans. I will NEVER use Frontier Airlines. Low fares done wrong are what Frontier represents!!. My flight was SF to Tampa with a layover in Vegas. I arrived in SF for my 3:07 pm flight @ 12:30 and Frontier was closed until 1:50 pm smh. At 1:30 pm a line forms to check in your luggage. At 2:05 pm an employee announces I am new and so is the other associated. We do not have a sign in to check you and are not sure if you will make it through TSA on time for your flight. We are waiting for a senior employee to sign in and are not sure what time they will arrive. I was pissed! Someone arrived at 2:15 pm for my 3:07 pm flight. I made it to the gate 5 minutes before boarding smh. I fell asleep on the plane and woke up thinking we arrived in Vegas. No, we were still in SF 1 1/2 later sitting in the plane! I finally arrived in Vegas and went to Tampa with no more issues are disappointments. My return flight was Tampa 7:25 am to Denver 9:25 am to SF 11:14 pm. Unfortunately, I had a long delay. Once I arrived in Denver at 9:25 am my gate # or flight was not available on (FIDS). No customer service agent was available at there desks so I went to the information booth. The employee gave me the gate # but the flight information was still not available on (FIDS). I know the gate # is available on the boarding pass but I justed wanted to confirm. I kept checking the desks and FIDS and finally found someone who works for Frontier. I asked the employee if this is the correct gate for the SF flight and she said it was canceled! I said, when? I have been sitting at this airport since 9:25 am it's now 1:40 pm and I did not receive an email. She said I don't know book another flight with a different airline or find one online. I go back to the information booth to confirm and yes it was canceled. He said, to go Frontier customer service so they can help you. I arrived at there desk and the agent confirms the flight was canceled. This was on a Sunday ( after thanksgiving ) and the next flight was not until Wednesday going to Sacramento, not SF! I asked what about SJ? She says you justed missed it! I asked why did Frontier not send me an email to inform me the flight was canceled? I could have taken the flight to SJ. They did not know. I asked what happened? She said the plane going to SF never arrived on Saturday so they canceled the flight today. If they knew on Saturday when were they going to inform their passages? She did not know. So now I need a 1-way ticket to SF immediately so I am reaching out to family and friends to find me a flight. As I am searching at 2:15 pm I received an email from Frontier the flight was canceled! Keep in mind I have been in Denver since 9:25 am!!! It took me until 6:00 pm to find a flight on Southwest since everything was booked for $487.50 one way!!!! I went back to Frontier's customer service to inquire about my luggage. I had to go to there baggage claim office so my luggage would be on the Southwest plane. I went back to Southwest to check it in my luggage which means I had to go through TSA again! The line was ridiculous! My flight leaves at 8:40 pm and it's now 7:30 pm. Thank God a TSA agent send us to the south side with a very short line. Made it to my gate with 5 minutes to spare smh. Frontier only refunded me $76.00 for the luggage and not the cost of the flight " they canceled!" If you are fine with canceled flights, losing money, being inconvenient, paying for your luggage, stress, uncomfortable seats, paying for drinks or snacks then try Frontier. As for me, I am completely done and Frontier is fired forever!!! read more

I flew Fontier back from Denver to SFO recently. A rude and in my opinion fraudulent experience that will have me never flying them again if I can help it. I paid a significant amount of extra money on my ticket to fly in "Classic Plus" which offers extra legroom and priority boarding ... because I knew I would have carry on luggage and need to get it stowed in the overhead in order to have enough leg room. (I have long legs and experience pretty significant knee pain on flights if I can't extend my legs underneath the seat in front.) I boarded the plane and put my main bag in the overhead, and was about to put my backpack up as well, and the stewardess says "Your other bag must go under your seat, it's our policy". I protested and pointed out I had paid extra to have legroom, not to have my leg space occupied by my bag. She immediately threatened to call the air marshall if I didn't sit down and follow her instructions. The overhead bins ended up not being full (the one above me had a space for a whole additional rolling bag), and she still refused to allow me to put my 2nd bag up. Frontier should be run out of business, which it is doing to itself! I flew Frontier from san francisco to denver. i was supposed to fly on to Indianapolis with an hour's wait. The flight was delayed FIVE HOURS because there was no first officer to fly us even though the plane was at the gate. when we finally landed at Indy, the conveyer belt was broken so we couldn't get our luggage for another 45 minutes. I flew back on Southwest even though i paid for a roundtrip ticket. I will NEVER, NEVER fly frontier again and you shouldn't either. read more
