Prices are a little on the high side for a burger (about9$and up) but totally worth it! I have now had the wonderful experience of trying them out about four times since they opened and have left nothing but satisfied! ALWAYS SO GOOD. Onion rings are addictive, thin and perfectly crisp. Although, one down side is the wait time because they are so consistently jamm packed and make everything to order, you can expect a 15 minute and higher wait depending on the hour of the day. This is my third time here and let me tell you; after you eat this burger, the debate between What-A-Burger and In-N-Out best burger will be a joke! This is not even close! For some reason I expect this burger to taste like a Burger King burger every time I come here because they are both char-broiled, but I leave here blown away! So I go through the drive-thru and the gentleman tells me my meals going to be 5 something I get to the the window toupee and the lady says it will be $9 and something so I called them up and ask him why they give me their excuse but they said will give you a free meal then I go through the drive-thru again and they told me no we're not giving you a free meal we don't do that you can pay 7 this place is terrible overly priced and I will never go back here again read more

Finally got to try this place because my wife is really picky about her burgers. She knows a good one when she has one. And this place is a good one. Super clean, staff greeted us right off and even came by to assure us order was almost ready as they were cleaning tables. Appreciate that. Great hamburgers and even better onion rings. I don't end up being in this area often, but I love going. The old Frontier Burger Drive-Ins shut down years ago, but they were pretty much a car hop (Sonic-like) place. They have transformed into a much more modern fast-food with a drive thru. They also have a terrific swiss-mushroom burger. Prices are a little steep for a fast-food restaurant (~$10 per person), but it's worth it to me. read more

This was my second visit, first time around was good enough to return, I liked the char-grilled flavor! However I waited in line forever. All fairness the person in front of me in the drive thru seemed difficult with a really big order. They could have asked her to pull up and let me through. I had asked for "no onions", cashier repeated the " no onions" as she handed me my order, ticket said "no onions" and as I drove off I took a big bite of "lots Of onions". They use chopped onions so I had to pull over(after I spit out my food) and scrape off all the onions which meant hardly any lettuce or sauce was left. If they used sliced onions I could have just taken them out. So I got a dry a%# burger with hardly any lettuce. Not happy. read more

FIrst time here today. Got the cheesburger and it was tasty yet not very hott. The cheese I had ordered never melted. I also got a side of chili to give it a try and it was pretty good! I was pleasantly surprised! The seating was very limited because they were pretty busy. The onion rings are of the shoestring sort and also very tasty! Grew up in San Antonio at Jim's and the front tier Drive in. Always loved their food from cheese soup to enchiladas burgers onion rings. I was so glad to see the front tier burger being built. This was my first time getting the fried chicken and unfortunately I was very disappointed. The smell of the chicken in the car told me it was not going to be a good experience. The oil must have been very old. I will stick with the favorites of chili and burgers. read more

I was doing some construction work on the new building and they gave me a free meal. It's not open to the public yet, but the food is great. Onion rings are the best you will find at a fast food joint. They are the super thin ones. The crinkle cut fries are unique because the crinkle is larger than most, making the fries more crispy. Burger is grilled over kingsford briquettes. Didn't get to try the chicken tenders, but they look like the same one they serve at the Jim's restaurant locations. My kids will be thrilled about that. Haven't been in years. Went the other day and biggest mistake! NOTHING like when it was in Central Park Mall. The food was nasty tasting and bun was a soggy mess. I asked for smoky sauce on the side and they gave me some thousand island tasting stuff. In fact I was sick for 3 days after eating it! Missed the old place and that delish roof bear they used to serve. On one good point the onion rings were the thin ones and were pretty good, but how can you mess those up. Worst Burger I've ever had the misfortune of eating. And I've had hospital food and microwaved burgers from 7-11. EVERYTHING about this place is dysfunctional! EVERYTHING. 30 minutes to get your order, and the food is horrible. No wonder big groups of people were walking out without ordering. Even the entrance is confusing! You come up on the driveway...but it has orange cones across it...but it still seems partially open. Then you realize it IS blocked off, and the "entrance' in now exit only. There's no signage or directions.... it's just closed. So I drive down the street til I find a parking lot, turn in and find a parking spot. There is a stream of traffic coming through the parking lot, trying to get into the drive through lane. Then, there are also TWO streams of traffic CROSSING the 1st stream of traffic from the parking lot! In the middle of all this, is an inept constable attempting to direct traffic, and completely ignoring the pedestrians. I watched him direct a car to back up, and near hit a group of 4 girls walking through the parking lot. The same dysfunction and chaos continued inside. NO signage, NO directions, just a giant clusterfark. No seats available. Literally none. People was standing and milling around while waiting for their food. It was impossible to tell where teh line started or ended. There was no "order here' type sign to direct people to the ordering stations, so then lines started forming on BOTH ends of the counter- one at the entrance, and one line forming at the exit. Even though there are 3 separate places to place your order- you can only see the menu from the middle position! You literally can't read the menu from the place where you order. Total amateur hour. This place was so bad, I actually felt embarrassed for them. Nothing was restocked, out of napkins and condiments, and they cleverly hide the straws above eyesight level! After the cashier with the lovely prison arm tattoos takes your order, they give you a small plastic tag with a number on it- like Whataburger does. Then when your order is ready, they employees take your food and wander the crowded dining room like zombies, and apparently blind zombies that are unable to locate or decipher the number etched on the plastic card on your table. I saw it with EVERY..DAMN. ORDER. it was painful to watch.Then after the 30 minute wait and cleaning our own table, the food arrives. I take an eagerly anticipated bite...and almost spit it out. How in the name of all that is pure and good , do you manage to make a double patty burger with cheese and condiments- that's as dry and tasteless as cardboard?? It was absolute garbage. I was actually p*ssed. I managed to slather enough ketchup on it to choke it down, since I was now near coma stage after not eating for so long. The onion rings are these odd super skinny 'rings' that all coalesce together into a large misshapen mass of potatoes and oil. You can't just pick up a ring and eat it.. you have to sort of mash together an ungainly pile of them, and then stuff the wad of potato mass into your mouth. More bland, flavorless 'food'. And none of the food as even hot. Whoever set up this debacle up should be fired...and shot... and the fired again. read more

My family and I recently came to Frontier Burger to see what the hype was all about. I was expecting big things from this restaurant but we left disappointed. We came on a Saturday afternoon it wasn't too crowded until we left just in time for dinner. We came in and the greeters and cashiers were very nice. We ordered our food and waited at our table. Once our number was called we were told to raise our hands. No restaurant has ever done that before, there needs to be a better system than that. It's like why have a number and then call to raise our hands, that's just plain dumb to me. We get our food once I bit into it, I noticed that my meat was pink. Not just me but my father as well and being that he's a retired health inspector this did not fly by with him. He stopped eating it didn't even get through the burger halfway. Less than ten minutes into eating the food got cold. I didn't even finish it. Now no burger stand is complete without crinkle fries! If I had to rate it on a scale of 1-10 it would be a five because they also got cold on me. My mom had ordered onion rings thinking that they were gonna be like Whataburger, I was completely wrong and not impressed either. They're more like onion strings that were tough to eat. The atmosphere was little off, cowboy atmosphere with 50s music does not make sense to me. After this experience we won't be coming back, TEAM BURGER BOY!! read more

Haven't had a good burger like this since I ate at the original Jims across from the Witte Museum around 1957! Jims was renting bicycles, in addition to char broiling burgers, Heartbreak Hotel on the juke box. Today, i ordered the original Frontier Burger (#3), krinkle cut fries, and a vanilla shake. I have mixed feelings. Frontier Burger is a spinoff of Jim's coffeeshops. I have always admired Jim's burgers: Fresh meat, generous portion, and cooked on charcoal. Frontier Burger's menu includes most of Jim's burger favorites plus a couple of sides and fried pies. The good: I love crinkle cut fries and their onion strings. Cons: The burgers just don't seem as fresh and I wonder if the meat patties have been frozen. Certainly the patty melt doesnt match up to Jim's admirable version. Like Whataburger, Frontier Burger uses soggy Texas Toast instead of grilled rye bread. Unless there are changes at Frontier Burger I will just stop in at Jim's for my burger. Cold buns, paper thin bacon, slightly warm patty, and two slices of cheese (not melted). The saving grace was the fries. $9.08 with tax. Blast from the past. I used to go to Frontier all the time when growing up. We saw this on the way back ftom the airport and knew we would have to give it a try. We stopped Sunday after church and when I opened my car door, the smell took me back to 1969! The exact same smell I used to love...charbroiled burgers!!! Menu pretty much the same with some modern updates. I got chili burger with onion rings and my wife got the Frontier burger. We were not disappointed. They tasted just like I remembered. So glad they are back. We will definately be going back. There are several burgers I like and have always enjoyed their thin onoin rings. THANKS for coming back. We will be regulars again. read more

First time here. I have to say it's worth a try for everyone. I had the mushroom Swiss burger with bacon, sub mayo for frontier sauce. It was pretty good. You can truly taste the char-broiled body it has, which gives a taste different from Whataburger and In-n-Out, so you can't compare them . The crinkle cut fries were really good as well. Decided to try out this place n got dinner for the family. When I got home I noticed our order was made wrong! My burger combo was not completely cooked n was raw, I received a crispy chicken sandwich rather than a grilled chicken, n then I also ordered 2 garden salads that were suppose to come with 1000 island dressing but instead we received some other kind of sauce (I'm guessing it was the secret sauce for a burger). After spending over $40. on 3 large combos n 2 salads, I wasn't given any ketchup or napkins! When I tried to call to resolve my issue, there was no number on the receipt so I had to look it up. Finally when I found the number to call the manager, no one answered the phone n was directed to leave a msn. Had no option to speak to anyone nor was I able to leave a message at all! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I've always known to make your first impression the best n on their first impression someone dropped the ball big time!
