We ordered ahead and when we got there we found they had a spurs night special but they didn't give us a discount and they said it was "dine in only" but that's not on the advertisement. I have gone to one other location and wasn't too impressed with the burger. My cousins come to eat at this location all the time and they say they're consistent and they're really good. So today I joined them. I will say this, this was probably one of the best hamburgers I've had in all of San Antonio, including against Mr Juicy! Babes is always hit or miss. Sometimes it's amazing American fare, sometimes it's a grease soaked mush of a meal. The new location makes less of that statement as it is newer and cleaner. The menu is a hodgepodge of Americana. Everything from burgers and fries to nachos to salads to fried chicken to pizza. Nothing particularly stands out as wonderful. It just is, and sometimes that's all you're looking for. There is a bustling din to the restaurant that I find unpleasant, but I've been to worse. Patio seating would negate this, and there's certainly room. The arcade machines are a nice touch and fun in a pinch on a date. The burger was not bad until we found a hair in my girlfriend's burger and that's because the cook who was making them had long hair and was NOT wearing a hair net. First time for me at this location as I used to go to the original site off of Fredericksburg throughout high school for a delicious burger! So happy to see there is a location in the heart of the south side as well. For the first time, I came in during San Antonio's Burger Week, where several burger spots have $5 - $8 options to try something different or have the burger spots tried and true items from their menus. I got a burger that Babe's had listed on their dry erase board menu that included barbecue sauce, onions, and homemade pickles. It was tasty as heck for $5! Fries and onion rings are a must here. The batter on the onion rings is so light, crispy, and delicious. I recommend getting a basket of frings (a combination of fries and onion rings), so the whole table can share with you. These fries are hand-cut and made to order! The service was spot on and friendly! You can watch your burgers get made if you want or into that sort of thing. Watching my order get made was fun as we sat down and got ourselves comfortable to eat. There are about 6-7 games here, including a driving-type match for the kids. Plenty of TVs if you don't want to miss the game as you eat. The only downside of our experience was the loud music. It was hard to find a spot inside away from the speakers.
