First of all. Let me just say it has been Hot recently. So hot, that a cold beverage just isn't cutting it. Nor is the ice cream. Gotta get that Gelato baby. Quickly, to the nearest Gelato please! They now have two locations! One in Uptown and the new new location in Nob Hill. Everything about this place is fun. You walk in and you see two glass cases filled with trays of gelato and the prettiest individual displays for each flavor. All the better to lure you in with. Don't be shy about tasting any of them either. They will be happy to give you a sample. You gotta find the right one for you! I'm a chocolate fiend. I always try a bunch of the other fruity flavors, but always end up going with the chocolate hazelnut. It's a winner in my book. I have to try a combo of two flavors, I'm just not sure I can finish a medium! The small is just the perfect size for me. The gelato is quite good, but the staff were very rude and the apparent "business practice" of not allowing two flavors in a small gelato is unreasonable and random. I have traveled extensively throughout Italy and always got the same small gelato combination. I can't imagine an Italian gelato shop making a random rule about not allowing 2 flavors in a small gelato. I don't eat large portions and thus did not want to pay for a larger size. When I asked to combine two flavors in a smaller size, I was told it was not possible. I ended up speaking to the manager as he happened to be there and he was very rude. He told me it had to be part of their business practice and suggested I open my own gelato store if I wanted to have two flavors in a small. For clarification, the store was empty except for us and thus it was certainly not an issue of how busy they were. As a retired partner in one of the largest business and strategy consulting firms in the world, I would weigh in and say that this business model they profess to need at Frost Gelato is inherently flawed. It is certainly not customer-centric and in my opinion, the staff at the store we visited were clearly not well-trained in how to treat customers with respect. read more

This is honestly one of my favorite ice cream places in ABQ with a variety of delicious unique flavors. The gelato here is creamy and smooth and definitely worth it. Cute gelato shop in a great location. Not just a great location being in Uptown but also great location within the shopping area. You can enjoy your gelato inside, directly outside or in the cute little courtyard area. The presentation of the gelato selection is so beautiful and artfully done. It is true we eat with our eyes first! It's nice to get to sample before you decide. I ordered a medium and did have banana & the other half tiramisu. I love places that really allow me to indulge & not have to pick just one flavor. I'll definitely be back. For a town that gets pretty darn hot, ABQ has a big gap in the ice cream/gelato/froyo department. Luckily I'm not too far from Frost, which is the best dairy-based dessert option south of Santa Fe. Recent favorites - the Blackberry Cabernet sorbet and the Cinnamon (seasonal). On a Friday or Saturday the line will be out the door, but don't fret, it moves quickly. While you wait you'll be annoyed by the guy in line behind you who keeps leaning over to get a better look at the Stracciatella or Salted Caramel. Don't be mean - you were that guy too (30 seconds ago). You'll get impatient with the lady in front of you who wants to try 15 flavors before settling on plain ol' vanilla. One of my favorite places I visited during my trip to NM. I am surprised there are only 8 reviews - I'm sure everyone would find a flavor they love because they are all DELICIOUS! Both the dairy and fruit sorbet flavors were excellent from what I tasted - and the servers there are more than happy to let you try as many flavors as you'd like. I ended up ordering a cup of chocolate and sea salt caramel but other standouts were the strawberry champagne and pineapple from the sorbet side. The atmosphere is fresh and clean and cool. Friendly service and a nice variety of flavors and dessert beverages (gotta try the gelato "hot" chocolate next time!). I am definitely coming back the next time I'm in Albuquerque! read more

This is a very cute, little gelato shop! The staff is very efficient, fast, and helpful. I sampled a couple of flavors and went with a small order of chocolate. You can never go wrong with chocolate anything. The young lady helping me even dolled it up nicely with cute little sticks (I don't know what they're called but I've definitely seen them before at other gelato shops). The price tag is definitely not cheap but no ice cream shop of this nature is at this point, so you come to expect it. This review is for a cake I purchased, not the gelato. The gelato is delicious and worth the trip. The cake on the other hand cost me $60. The vanilla cake portion is extremely thin and tasteless. There are supposed to be two layers of ice cream but as you can see in the picture, there's a good layer of chocolate and very teeny tiny layer of the second flavor. The cake is beautifully presented but you pay for mostly fluff. The height of the cake is approximately 1.5 inches. You'd be better off purchasing Betty Crocker cake mix and adding a layer of Hagen Dazs between the cake. It would be a fraction of the price and taste much better. This cake is nowhere near the money. Furthermore, the employee who took my order was very delightful but the weekend staff were happy to not help anybody and were somewhat rude. read more

Gelato is delicious and Frost does a good job of presenting some delicious options. Staff was polite and helpful. They let me try before I buy. They have spaghetti ice (which I didn't try here) but I have had before and it's an experience you should not miss. They have gelato cakes and non non type desserts as well. There isn't much room to eat inside, but there is outdoor seating as well. I tried the Lotus Gelato... SO DELICIOUS! Tastes just like the cookies with a creamy cool delivery. I was so excited when Frost opened in uptown. So naturally, I had to try it out for myself. There's not a lot of seating inside, but lines are always out the door. It's perfect for a break on a hot, summer day or during the winter to walk around among the Christmas trees. Such a fun display and so many different flavors to tr. All light, smooth, and creamy (and you can mix flavors too!). The crunchy biscotti that comes with it is just the icing on the ice cream (I know, it's gelato). Many times, I've opted for some sort of coconut/sea salt caramel or dark chocolate/ sea salt caramel blend. Prices are usually in the $4 range for a small, but honestly, I've never really really looked because good quality gelato is worth it to me. I wanted to look at all the beautiful flavors but the line is long and the staff want to keep things moving. There isn't enough time to really take in all of the flavors. If you order a medium you can get 2 flavors in the cup. I had salted caramel which was divine and cookies and cream which was ok. Because I'm sure people were abusing the sample flavors they limit you to 2 samples. Walking in there were a bit of line at the door. Luckily the line moved fairly quickly. I like the option to try the different gelato options. They have a wide selection of gelato flavors. They even have a selection of gelato with flavors combined with alcohol. I saw a gelato flavor called strawberry champagne. Another named after lemon cello (I think that's what it's called not sure). They offer small and medium sized cups of ice cream. Even offer pints and quarts. They have option for milkshakes in different sizes. They even offer sample tastings for the flavors they offer. You just have to ask to try it and they'll give you a small spoon. I tried the espresso, the cookies n cream, and chocolate flavor. I really enjoyed the cookies n Cream was really good but the chocolate stole the show. I actually ended up buying a full quart so I can take it home and eat it there and still have some left over. I used to think that the Chocolate/Gelato place on Juan Tabo was the greatest. Well, that honor (for Gelato now goes) to Frost. [The honor for chocolates now goes to Joliesse.] Frost is part of a small, worldwide chain that produces the very best gelato that I have ever had. Anyplace. The rich mouthfeel belies the low fat content. The flavors (rotating among about a hundred) are all delicious and they are all satisfying. My personal favorites are Green Tea and Dark Chocolate and ..., you now what I mean. The Chocolate is so dark that it is almost sinister. I have seen long lines outside the door on the dead of Winter during a snowstorm. Now, THAT says something top me. read more

This is the best gelato I've found in Albuquerque. Very tasty but not cheap, although gelato is always more pricey than traditional ice cream. One of the negatives I will note is that their hours drive me insane. I mean closing at 8 pm on a Saturday as a dessert place just doesn't make sense to me. Also they don't let you get two flavors in a small. I've been to a lot of others places that do that and I think its really nice because gelato is rich and often times people don't need/want more than a small. How have I not reviewed Frost yet? This is some seriously great gelato. On par or better than what you find in Italy, and clearly superior to all but the very best gelato nationally. Each and every flavor I have tried has been excellent in its own way, although if you are a fan of fruit flavors at all, I strongly encourage you to give those a try. The coconut is a hidden gem. Pair with a strong fruit flavor in a medium cup for a tropical vacation in your mouth. Lines here are regularly out the door, but the staff move patrons through quickly, so don't be deterred if you come by and see a crowd. While restaurant seating is crowded, there are plenty of places to sit down in the area, so you'll never have to look too far for a seat. Not exactly cheap, but very reasonably priced. Not only cheap, but low in calories, fat, and calories from fat than regular ice cream, look no further for the frozen treat paradise of your dreams. read more

My family and I love this place. We went by Tuesday evening around 7pm, Johnathan & Savanna were working greeted us with a smile and asked if we would like to sample any of the flavors. We tried a few of the flavors and settled on two large cups with Lemon, Mango & Pineapple. The other cup had biscochito, creme de biscottis & peanut butter crunch. Top notch flavor and service. I love gelato in a bad way. I hear it's just iced milk and not iced cream...but there is something so delectable about the texture that I cannot stop thinking about. Luckily it's relatively low in calories. And Frost definitely doesn't TASTE low calorie, even though it is. It tastes like creamy, sugary, flavorful heaven in a cup. They are generous and patient when I wanted to sample probably six different types of gelato. (note: there are like 30+ flavors) and talked to me about the size differences. Meaning, a single flavor in a small, two in a medium and three in a large. And they aren't all mixed together (I was very hesitant to add multiple flavors next to my favorite chocolate hazelnut).
