Yesterday, four of us went to Frost Gelato at Encantada mall, tucson. One of the girls at the counter was totally rude like we were inconveniencing her by ordering ice cream. We didn't even ask for samples. I paid a $13.55 bill with a $20. She told me she didn't have and change and shorted me 45 cents. I told her that I'm not OK with that and wanted to use my debit card. She ignored me and walked away. I couldn't care less about 45 cents, it was just her attitude that it was OK. I feel it should be the business's loss if they don't have the correct change. My daughter then ordered an ice coffee and was told they didn't have any ice. I saw several customers walk out after asking questions of the staff without ice cream. Management really needs to straighten this place out. PS: the gelato was excellent as usual. read more

You may not find better gelato outside of Italy, believe me, I have tried! I lived in Italy for a short while and fell in loooovvvvee with affogattos! When I got back to the US, I had a very difficult time finding an affogato, let alone a really good one (most places use ice cream, and it's markably different). At long last I found Frost and found complete contentment in their lovely affogatos! An affogato is like an Italian root-beer float, except instead of root-beer poured over ice cream, it's espresso poured over gelato... & it is BOMB. I have tried many many different gelato flavours with affogatos, but I keep coming back to chocolate-hazelnut, you must try it, trust me, it's delicious! Moral of the story: Frost offers delicious, true-to-Italy tasting gelato and they make the best affogato in the states (that I have found). read more

After trying the Tanque Verde location and being happy with the gelato but disappointed cleanliness and service, I decided to give the La Encantada location a shot! Overall conclusion: this location is cleaner, has the same delicious gelato, but the same poor service. The disclaimer with this review is that the gelato is amazing at both locations!! Super yummy. I have tried the Bagigi Peanut, Dark Chocolate, and the Espresso Chip and all flavors were amazing. Also, the La Encantada location was definitely cleaner than the Tanque Verde location. HOWEVER, the customer service was the same. No hello when you enter the door or acknowledgement. There was a line; so, when we made our way to the front, all 3-4 of the boys working there were talking to a young woman seated at the bar, surrounding her, and seemed uninterested in helping anyone else. After waiting for while one of them finally came over to get our gelato. In general, they seemed unenthusiastic about customer service. At the register, the young man helping us was on his cell phone. The gelato here is great! So, that is a good thing! However, their customer service at all locations needs help! read more

Let me start with the exceptional service!! A big shout out to Sterling who was so friendly and helpful that he created the best experience! With a big smile he gave us samples and made suggestions and since we were sharing, two cookies. We ended up with chocolate hazelnut and peanut butter. Yum! The gelato was delicious!! Well, I'm wrong, it's gelato ... yummy, yummy, gelato. First recommendation: Go early in the day, like, really, 11 a.m. if you want to see these three-dimensional, blooming works of art, flowering with fruits and with mountain ranges sculpted from the gelato. It is a sight to see. And the flavors! Along with their flavors of the month, there's somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 (!) gelato flavors and a couple dozen sorbets. I had their Peanut Butter Crunch, which was smooth with natural peanut-buttery flavor and, unshockingly, plenty of crunch. You'll find several one-of-a-kind (or at least pretty dang rare!) flavors like Bailey's Irish Creme, Bourbon Butter Pecan, Alpencaramel, Pear Riesling, Cioccolato al Perperoncino (yeah, that's chocolate with a chili pepper), Guinness (!), Panna Cotta, Honey Lavender, Halwa, and about 20 more things you'll have to look up on your phone. Wow!! The store is so clean and brightly lit. The display case if all the flavors of gelato were very colorful and deliciously looking. The server was also really friendly and helpful with recommendations. The salted caramel was the number two favorite flavor he said, the number one was chocolate! He was very patient with my indecisiveness, and allowing me to try as many flavors as I wanted. I decided with the alpencaramel and the blackberry Cabernet. My friend didn't like my flavor choices, but I thought it was great! The staff also came around with cups of water, which I thought was going beyond the call of duty. Five stars! read more

I'm pains me to say this but I think I'm done with Frost at La Encantada. I have enjoyed and supported them since they opened years ago. I was there tonight, Friday at approximately 5 pm. The store wasn't crowded...just a few people ahead of me. Unfortunately, there were only 2 employees at that time. The young man disappeared leaving just one woman to take care of us. After waiting patiently it was my turn and the very disengaged young woman decided to wait on me. I told her I was easy and just wanted two scoops of chocolate gelato. Without a "sorry...we are out of chocolate" she said, "we don't have any" and turned away. What? The beginning of the weekend and you are out of chocolate? Excellent tasting gelato (had the toasted almond) and love the variety of flavors! This one is located at La Encantada Mall; it's clean, airy, and there are tables and chairs both inside and out. The only gripe is that they don't allow two flavors for the small portion. Also, it's seems to be manned by high school or college kids who don't really give a crap. Blue Ice Gelato has friendlier and more genuine service, and they let you split two flavors for their small portion. Other than that, definitely looking forward to returning to Frost to try more flavors. read more

We recently visited Frost for a cup of Gelato while shopping at the La Encantada outdoor mall. The service was pretty speedy and they had a wide range of flavors. The employees were masked and wearing gloves, so it felt pretty safe even during COVID times. The pricing was pretty on-par for gelato shops, they always tend to be a little more expensive than regular ice cream. Overall, I felt like this was a typical visit to a gelato shop and I can't really say there was anything great or terrible. So, hit up Frost if you need a cool treat while shopping, but it probably isn't worth a long drive as a primary destination. read more

came to get gelato after date night, sat outside and saw employee eating gelato through the window with small spoon scoops, didnt think much of it, then I saw employee double scoop into gelato. when I mentioned it to employee she denied it instead of replacing gelato with a new one. she stated she was the manager and her name was Desiree; this was on Friday 10/20 at about 8:40-8:55. i had recording of her doing it and she still denied it. I don't care if employees eat the gelato but don't eat using the same spoon you licked on and double dip into the container, that you serve to others. The best ice cream! I've lived in Italy, for several years, and this is the closest, most genuine gelato I found, hands down! It has that amazing smoothness that I remember from gelato, when living in Italy. There are also many favor choices, which is nice. The only possible complaint is about one specific flavor: pistacchio. The pistachio ice cream always tastes more like peanut butter, in USA, than it does in italy. This has always been a neighborhood favorite but recently, during height of COVID wave, employees were not wearing masks. When asked if they would agree to mask, servers said "no; we don't have any" and claimed it was their choice whether to mask or not. I tried to call corporate General Manager to confirm Frost's policies, but never received a return phone call.
