(Going to leave my previous review for now with some slight updates) Seattle has a pretty saturated market of doughnut stops with Top Pot, Krispy Kreme, Mighty-O, etc. But no one does fried, crispy, cakey, gooey goodness of doughnuts better than Frost. Being down on the east-side, I don't make it up to North Seattle much, a co-worker brought a box of French Crullers with Maple and I was hooked on the spot. I never really craved doughnuts as most places are sub-par pieces of fried dough that are too cakey and dry, but the Cruller I tried had a very nice creamy texture I have never experienced before. It was nirvana in my mouth and I want more (and you should to)! Frost doughnuts does it right and they are very good at their craft. We no longer have to make the long trek to Oregon (Voodoo) for great craft doughnuts, I actually believe they are better than Voodoo and recommend peeps in Oregon to try them out. If you have never tried Frost, I recommend going online and ordering a box a head of time before you visit. I made the mistake of making the long 40-minute drive from the east-side on a Saturday afternoon and they basically had nothing left in their stock. Wishlist for Ownership: Thanks for the east-side location at Lincoln Square, but please bring make the variety of crullers (maple, cinnamon sugar, etc.). I think you've spread yourselves thin with those cup cakes, etc. (which I'm not a fan of). +The best variety of doughnut goodness in Washington State + French Cruller's are awesome! - They've expanded and lost part of their ways, the cup cakes aren't great. Blueberry & Meyer Lemon Fritter. Can. Not. Be. Beaten! I am a fritter girl, through and through. This one hit the spot. Also tried a Caramel Apple Fritter on our second stop (for 2dz to feed some car washin' sailors), and was a little too sweet, I couldn't finish it. Best. Donuts. Ever. I don't know where to start, but these donuts are like a piece of heaven when you eat them. Some of their specialty flavors are chocolate mint, maple bacon bar, red velvet, peppermint, and salted caramel. I usually don't like old fashioned donuts but these are just absolute perfection. The old fashioned donuts aren't too "cakey" and the frosting isn't too sweet. The best thing they offer though are FROISSANTS! These are to die for and it's hard to find a bakery that bakes them every day, but they do! The egg nog Froissant is my favorite. The owner was the winner of the food network's donut challenge. I am A big fan of the donuts here - they are always fantastic. The only glitch is the thing that goes best with donuts is a nice coffee. That is where I've run into problems at Frost. The baristas ( except for a few ) don't seem to have experience in making a good cup of coffee. EachTime I've been with someone or ordered a coffee there has always been a problem. Today when I went in and ordered a single grande latte with Almond milk I ran into the same problems. Keep in mind the man before me had to have his drink remade twice before they even began my coffee. I waited a total of close to 18 minutes for a single grande almond milk latte to find that instead of giving me a single shot they gave me a double shot. A very nice barista asked if I wanted a different drink. Yes I'd like the drink I ordered. My one strong suggestion is for management here to train their barista's properly because I feel that often times they have just been left on their own to figure out how to make a proper drink. By the way when I finally did get my drink it was not even warm it was not hot nor cold But I don't even think they forgot to hear the milk. First time didn't disappoint us! Wish I bought more than one pistachio. It was so good even the next day bite seemed fresh! They had some traditional selections as well as adult choices. The macarons seemed pricey for its size but pretty good. Try the pbj macaron. Free parking, clean and spacious. I loved that there was a half dozen deal. read more

Don't settle for those wannabe donut shops that try to hop on the bacon bandwagon and simply slap a couple of strips of bacon on a maple bar. This donut cannot be replicated elsewhere. The donut itself is cakey on the inside, not too sweet and slightly crispy on the outside. The frosting is flavorful and fluffy like buttercream. The bacon-- crispy bits of heaven. I'm just glad I don't live closer to this place. Love the costumer service, they are always friendly and helpful and I always leave with a big happy smile. I made the trek up to Mill Creek with Kellie L. to try the Smokey Bacon Maple Bars and was not disappointed. I also tried the Banana Split Fritter (my favorite) which was amazing. Other great doughnuts: Chocolate Caramel Turtle, White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle, German Chocolate, Salted Caramel and the Butterfinger Blast. Not so exciting things: They are way up in Mill Creek, the Aztec Chocolate left a bit too much of a Cayenne after taste/burn, there is no free water to drink so I had to buy bottled water, and they are a bit on the pricey side. The Smokey Bacon Maple Bar was almost as good as the Maple Bacon Bars from Voodoo but not quite. Great work Frost! I will be coming back again when I have time to drive up to Mill Creek again! read more

I came by this place with my sister after lunch to buy something sweet. I ended up getting the birthday cake cupcake with a Christmas tree frosting decoration on top of it and a tub of gingerbread donut holes (the ball kind). The tubs were on display near the register and there was a sign that said "Birthday Cake..." so I originally thought that it was made out of birthday cake batter like the cupcake I was buying. I didn't realize that the sign was for the birthday cake candles that were on display in front of the tubs. The staff informed me that it was gingerbread but I decided to go ahead and buy it because they looked good. To whoever is in charge, I would suggest you to make sure that there's a name sign with the price listed whenever there are tubs of donut holes for sale so there's no confusion of what kind of flavor they are and how much they cost. While paying for my purchase, the girl was a bit pushy and pointed toward the tip part on the iPad screen. That made me uncomfortable because it was as if she expected me to leave her a tip. I normally leave tips at places like restaurants but not at a place like this one if I'm simply picking out items that were already made. My sister didn't leave a tip because she paid in cash and didn't have to deal with the girl in that way. I really liked the old fashioned chai donut that was in the 1 dozen box that my sister bought; it was very good. The birthday cake cupcake was all right; the Christmas tree frosting on top of it was a bit too much but it was cute and clever. This place is adorable. I just moved to the area and spotted it in passing. I had to go in and take a look. Maybe i hold my treats to a higher standard because I am a Pastry Chef, but i was a little disapointed. I loved the ambiance and interior, it fits in perfectly in the shopping center. The doughnuts themselves didnt seem like anything special. I read an artical in the Seattle times and they talked about all the" evolved doughnut flavors" Maybe I just went at the wrong time ( a Sunday morning) but all that was on the shelf was the regualr options you can get anywhere else. There are no signs or tags to let you know what is what either, so each customer was asking when they got to the counter. There were a lot of employees there but the line was still 5-7 deep and took me a good while to finally be served. The next put off was that they only serve drip coffee and not espresso. But at the rate the staff was moving, i could only imagine what a hold up making drinks would add to the mix. All in all, its super cute and a great idea, but the doughnuts weren't anything to make me go out of my way to get. read more

Can I just say, the donuts are delicious but the workers there are so nice. I go there at least once a week and it's so family friendly too! Today my husband and I had a rough morning and we ended up spilling coffee all over our table and the worker that helped us actually came over and asked us if we were ok, gave us a fresh new cup of coffee, and was really kind to us. On a trip to the wee north, I made a stop the Frost to see all the hype about this maple bacon doughnut t business. I love bacon!! I must say, I had high hopes, but it didn't wow me. A gourmet doughnut shop in Mill Creek. Who knew? I had to call to ask directions and also did a little research about what I wanted. I knew in the face of multiple sugary confections that my ability to reason might be lost. The store is very unassuming with some scattered tables and chairs to sit at. This is not a spot that I want to linger but it is cute enough. That being said - the doughnuts! The selection is not huge but what they have is scrumptious. I meant to get pictures of my selections but they didn't make it home intact. The maple frosting was calling my name... The maple bacon - The first bite was a salty, sweet gooey explosion in my mouth. Oh, my lord. It was so rich that I could really only handle that one bite. Or maybe two. The salted caramel - As a fan of all things sweet and salty at once, this was so yummy. It was an old-fashioned doughnut covered in a caramel frosting. This was then dotted with little bits of sea salt. I didn't get a salt hit on the first bite but it was delicious when I did on the second. It could maybe use a little more salt for me. The red velvet - I can't say I tried this one yet as I gave it a friend to celebrate her new job. It did look excellent. Damn... I found yet another new addiction. Thank GOD I have crohn's disease and can't put weight on for the life of me, and vomit up at least half the calories I take in each week or I'd be in serious trouble cause of this place. What can you say when you finally find Heaven? I mean, really? All I know, is that the day I stepped foot into this establishment, I found my place of worship. The Maple Bacon Bar is crazy good and the Salted Caramel is nothing short of magical. The only downside I can find is that if you eat more than one of these fluffy, fresh mounds of piousness, you will surely find yourself in a deep doughnut coma. You can get a little bit of everything at this shop, but be prepared to deal with a unique labeling system akin to Starbucks and some pricier selections. Everything is neatly displayed in the front counter and low enough so you can see every donut. . Perks: Donuts. They are large. They are tasty. The place was not crowded and there was plenty of parking. They have some unusual donuts that I want to try out next time I visit, like lavender old fashioned. . I love the location. Whenever my family and I decide to walk around the area, we always stop by and enjoy some doughnuts. My favorite is their blueberry doughnut. Coming from DC, I've made it a point to avoid the pretentious cupcake scene in DC with folks waiting in droves outside of small shops for hours. But Frost made me want to break all of my hard and fast rules when they gave away free samples of cider cupcakes with a cinnamon frosting at Cider Summit Seattle. The minis absolutely hit the spot: not too sweet, and not a bourbon-soaked dessert that makes you want to immediately down a pitcher of water. Came back this most recent trip to Seattle and used a groupon for a dozen donuts. I got a variety of different donuts. Bacon maple bar and regular maple bar - really good and fresh. We ordered like 5 of these. Red velvet, not too bad, but I had it the next day so I'm not sure if it was a little dryer cuz it wasn't as fresh. Regardless, I prefer red velvet in cupcake form. German chocolate cake - pretty solid donut that is really sweet with its glaze and coconut on top but still not something to bring me back in. Salted caramel - not too bad, but again not something to come back for. My family had some of the other donuts such as the marcona almond and tart cherry bismark and bavarian creme, and they said they enjoyed their donuts. I'll definitely back when I'm in the area (my sister lives really close to Mill Creek towncenter) and I need a donut. I'll probably stick to the maple bars (with or without bacon). read more
