Just canceled my "custom" order with this bakery. My initial consultation seemed great, until I researched comparison of their "signature cakes" and realized I was being charged significantly more, for something less elaborate than the signature cakes. After sitting down with the head baker, I was dissatisfied with the actual service. She had a very entitled attitude and projected an extremely condescending tone towards me. I was more than corporative and she chose to use her preconceived notion to lead in our consultation. I will never do business with this company as the climate of this situation seems to be echoed throughout this bakery. Purchased 3 cupcakes for $13 which is way too expensive for the Tower District of Fresno. If reducing these prices for the cupcakes is something that cannot be accomplished, then these prices would be more appropriate in Carmel or La Jolla. Really liked this place! Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a treat, my husband and I didn't care for the slice of confetti cake in the fridge (seemed dense and dry) but I got the pink champagne cupcake which was so good I went and got two more. We also got a couple of chocolate chip cookies and weren't too impressed but seriously those cupcakes made up for any of our other disappointments. I was initially visiting the coffee shop next door when I saw the sign for Frosted Cakery. Over The past couple of year I have developed into a cupcake connoisseur, meaning that every time I see a shop specializing in cupcakes I have to partake!!! Idk why but I feel it necessary to eat and critique cupcakes. Well let me start by saying I truly enjoyed chomping down on these cakey bites of goodness. They have a pretty solid variety of cupcakes to choose from but I ordered the confetti cupcake and the salted carmel cupcake. They were both very moist which is a good thing TRUST ME!!! Now I will say that they were a little heavy on the frosting but I was okay with that because the frosting was good. The frosting that i didn't want I just didn't eat ( problem alleviated). However the over all quality and taste of the cupcakes was enough to keep me coming back for more. I was waited on by a younger girl who was polite and maintained a professional through my typical eccentrism. She also made great suggestions on what I should by. so based on taste only, id give it a 3/5 stars, but this place definitely gets an extra star for the very impressive (and trust me, i am not easily impressed) and extremely original decorations on these cupcakes! their cupcakes are so whimsical and fun that i went in on planning to just buy one and bought 3 instead. the cool thing i loved about this place was that they had featured cupcakes for march or was it st patricks day...or shoot..leap year, can't remember.. well whatever, they had special cupcakes being featured and this tells me that this place actually cares and likes making and creating cupcakes..they are passionate enough about their business to sit down and brainstorm about making their cupcakes even more awesome or fun than what they are just because of an upcoming holiday or season change...i don't see this a lot in fresno businesses thats for sure. im a very aesthetic person when it comes to decor whether it be decorating cakes or throwing small dinner parties so this place was so appealing to me. their cake work is beautiful and the decorations are clean, creative and ..really just (bow chik a wow wow) food porn for my eyes. the cupcakes alone were really fresh and moist. i got 3 different kinds: the fudge: WHOA. super fudgey. like I'm pretty sure its ganache and not regular butter cream cause it was soooooooo (maybe too) thick and hard to eat. the cake itself was amazing, rich, chocolaty, super moist...i ended up ditching the top and eating the bottom only. the snickerdoodle: true to its name, it tasted just like a snicker doodle cookie. cake was consistent in moistness and the flavors were..well..just imagine eating a snicker doodle in cake form...the frosting was subtle with some cinnamon sugar and all in all, a great cupcake the raspberry filled cupcake: this tasted like such a classic cupcake to me. the buttercream was a little too sweet for my liking but again, everything worked really well together. the cake batter was a white cake with raspberry filling. the filling tasted home made and delicious, wasn't runny or messy, seemed like they knew the exact amount of dollop to put in without compromising the cupcake as a whole. also, the young pretty girl at the counter was really sweet and nice and helpful. nothing is labeled but when i asked what one cupcake was, she went ahead and explained that one as well as all the others they had in their display. she than gave me their business card and explained they do all kinds of stuff and can turn any of their cupcakes into full cakes for special events...all with a smile and like she cared and was interested in what she was saying to me. i also loved seeing the open work area where the cupcakes are created...felt very new york ish or something. ill probably go to the cupcake place down the street from me if i ever have a sweet tooth (gawd i hate driving) but for actual special events and parties, id be more willing to make the drive across town to this place. read more

Stopped by here after a morning workout (irony of ironies) and arrived 30 minutes before they opened. No worries though - the owners welcomed us and actually apologized that they didn't have all of their confections ready. The man and I each got a bacon French toast and chocolate fudge cupcake. I thought the chocolate fudge cupcake was overly sweet, although he thought it was just fine. (Mind you he takes his coffee with four teaspoons of sugar, so it's best to take his thoughts on sweetness with a grain of salt.) We both thought the French toast cupcake was fine, although there wasn't much in the way of maple flavor to be had. The owners obviously enjoy what they're doing and understand customer service unlike so many businesses in and around Fresno, so for that reason alone I'd be willing to go back. read more

All you have to do is pick your favorite cupcake from behind the case and tell them that you'd like to turn it into a shake. I am in full agreement with the previous review about the Key Lime Pie cupcake. It is just heavenly. A little bit too much frosting for me but the cake itself was moist and the moment you hit the filling. It's devine. The prices here aren't that bad either. $2.50 for your average sized cup cake. They come in different flavors and combination so this will have me coming back to try out the other cupcakes as well. Yesterday I was able to try the Chocolate Fudge, Tiramisu and the Keylime Pie. The Tiramisu had great frosting but the cake wasn't nearly as good. It wasn't as soft and moist as the other cupcakes. Be sure to come here early cause the cupcakes do sell out pretty quick. I was here around 3:45pm, and many of their cakes were gone. Apparently they do serve up sandwiches here also, this would make a great first date place. Fortunately, the bakery itself is very cute, and the service is excellent. However, the cupcakes themselves are just not to my liking. A lot of the cupcakes tasted the same, and the special flavor cupcakes all were just super sweet. My friend and I both tried just about every cupcake they had in the store one day, and aside from being sickeningly sweet, found them to be relatively flavorless. The worst part was that several of them were sticky, as though they had been soaked in sugar water. Frosted Cakery is pretty much the closest thing I'll get to having a cupcake from the famous Sprinkles! And it's pretty darn close. Collectively, my roommates and I have tried the vanilla bean and raspberry-filled cupcake, the midnight mint cupcake, the red velvet cupcake, and the key lime pie cupcake. These were ALL amazing, all being moist with the perfect density and not being overly sweet. I find the problem with other cupcake shops in Fresno is that there is definitely a lack of balance between the sweetness of their frosting and cake. Not with this bakery, no no no. I've come in enough times now that I feel comfortable giving them a solid 4-stars. The only reason it's not 5 is because sometimes the people working at the counter are kind of lame. Like you walk in and they stare at you waiting for you to order without offering assistance first (it's the younger girl and guy if that helps). As other reviews mention, nothing is labeled so it's pretty much a given people will need to know what the flavors are, especially if they aren't regular customers. The guy who was there on a Thursday night a few weeks back was pretty friendly and helpful though. Anyway, on to the more important topic, the cupcakes themselves. I've tried 4 different flavors, all of which are fantastic. I like that they don't put TOO much frosting on. Some places cover the cake in frosting so you end up with more frosting than cake, and I end up taking half of it off. They do not do that here. My favorite so far is the pecan waffle bacon one, it's like breakfast in a cake, and is best eaten with equal amounts frosting and cake in one bite. I've tried cupcakes at a few other different shops in town since moving here, and these are the best by far. I only wish I lived closer (or maybe it's a good thing I don't since I would probably weigh 300lbs if I did). read more

I just ate sugar cookie "French fries" and a cupcake "hamburger." Pure genius! Pure deliciousness! I've never had a bad cupcake. They rotate flavors, but have their standards (I.e. red velvet). Lemon drop is my favorite! And you simply must try a macaroon. The cupcakes are a bit pricy, considering the price for one is equal to a Dollar Tree cake mix, frosting and cup cake holders, but these cupcakes are handcrafted and delicious. My mom chose this bakery for my baby shower cake. While the cake tasted good and the look was very cute and well done, I about freaked out when I heard the cost. Waited for a second visit and a second flavor cupcake to rate appropriately. Went there today with my friend and I had the French Toast w/bacon and it was yummy. Frosting was a tad too sweet, but everything else was excellent. My previous visit was with my sister, niece, and kids. I had the Pink Champagne cupcake and it was amazing and super tasty may I add. My kids had chocolate cupcakes, my sis the Vanilla Bean and my allergic to everything niece was able to have the Snickerdoodle one since they offer a vegan option. The cupcakes turned out at Frosted are some of the best I've ever tasted...and I am a huge baker! I was so excited to try the Chewbacca cupcakes a few days ago, and the "chewie" chocolate chip cookie. I myself am a baker and I had high hopes for this place considering the following they have but I was SOOOO DISAPPOINTED!
