I have enjoyed Frostop root beer since I as a small boy. I'll soon be 68 so I know what I'm talking about when I say Frostop is absolutely the best root beer. We moved from Ohio to SC some 11 years ago and couldn't find Frostop down here anywhere. We came home one time for a visit to my sister's in Maumee, went to The Anderson's to shop and found large plastic bottles of Frostop for sale there. Would always buy about 6-8 bottles to take back home but they didn't last very long. Lo and behold, one day I'm shopping at a local Ace Hardware store down here and there on a display near the register was Frostop root beer! Couldn't believe my luck! Bought 6 bottles, took them home and shared some with my wife. Now I go back every few weeks and buy 4-6 bottles and keep it on hand in the frig. Love the taste! Just the way I remember it as a boy! To make the experience perfect, I put a large glass mug in the freezer so I can enjoy the frosty treat just like I used to. And I can have as much as I want to now! LOL I bake, cook and make chocolates (turtles and Buckeyes), and enjoy making old fashioned baked goods that my mom used to make for our family. From cookies to apple dumplings, spice cake with boiled caramel frosting, fresh cherry pie and home made ice-cream. It doesn't get any better than that. read more

Really good! The Malibu chicken sandwich was great, as were the rootbeer floats. It's very old, worn building, but charming. Waitstaff was very friendly. A little spending for a road side stand, when you add a float...which is a must. Kids meal with float ~$8, adult meal with float ~$12 read more

A drive-in with a giant rotating root beer mug? HOW COULD THIS NOT BE A QUALITY ESTABLISHMENT?!!! We stopped in after Yellowstone and we were all starrrrving. Service isn't quick, and the food doesn't magically appear instantly, but that's because, as the signs tell you - they're COOKING it. I was ready to eat anything that didn't bite me first, but I was a little leary of a random drive-in, so I just ordered a hamburger. Never fear - Big hamburger, good meat, great toasted bun, admittedly slathered in the ubiquitous Idaho "fry sauce". For the uninitiated, "fry sauce" is ketchup and mayonnaise. I hate mayonnaise, but this was still a great burger, and big enough to be filling on its own. It came with tater tots, which were good, but son's fresh, seasoned fries were even better. Daughter ordered a salad. I was a little dubious about what she'd wind up with from a drive-in, but she said it was fresh, tasty, and she's particularly picky. Don't think you're going to drive thru and have processed food flung at you, you won't, it's a DRIVE -IN that cooks real food. Meals are in the $8 range. They also had some nice looking sundaes and shakes on the menu, but we didn't order them. read more

Great atmosphere, nice staff and DEE-licious food. The fry sauce is the best! Had cheeseburger and onion rings. Honey had the fried shrimp, tater tots and rootbeer float. Yummmmm. Crispy and tasty. A guilty pleasure on the way to Yellowstone. read more

Great bacon cheese burger with fresh onion, fresh dark green romain lettuce along with pickles. Served with good fries. The root beer had free refills. Good stop before heading into Yellowstone. read more

Awesome stop! Excellent food, nice service. A real treat. The ice cream is outstanding. We had a burger and chicken strips both were much better than we expected. The fry sauce is very special also. A drive-in legend I must say! If it were anywhere with more populace or traffic, it would get a reputation as such. read more

If you like cold tater tots, under cooked stale burgers, overpriced generic fish n' chips, chewy grease soaked french fries and repulsive bathrooms... then this is your place. Was just leaving West Yellowstone territory flying down the highway when I hit Ashton ID and saw the huge Frostop mug and slid quickly into the parking lot!!! As a New Orleanian with a Frostop (closed presently unfortunately) across from my dad's former hardware I had to check it out. Upon walking in it was all there: root beer mugs, the smell of fries and fried food with a twist of the area ...halibut sandwiches. I ordered a small and large chocolate shake and waited as more people poured in as it was lunch time. Everyone knew each other and they were all very friendly especially the girl behind the counter. The manager whisked by her and told her to call another employee to come in to help as the crowd grew yet no one was in a panic. The food rolled out and looked great and then the shakes came. Mine was close to a foot tall with a sugar cookie in it as well as a spoon and a straw. I soon learned the spoon was due to the thickness of the malt which took me an hour to eat and the little cookie was the piece de la resistance. The atmosphere was a throw back in time. It was well worth the stop as it made my day on the way to SLC. My true life moment was when I told the waitress about the Frostops in south Louisiana and she declared she didn't know any others existed other than the one in Ashton...PRICELESS!?!?! read more
