As a vegan it's very difficult for me to find ice cream shop where they serve non dairy options. As far s I'm concern, none of the dairy mats in area offer anything like this. This one does and I'm very happy about it! They have almond milk ice cream which you can turn into most of their dessert options. As a previous blizzard fan, I had to go with oreo freezie. My hubby got a regular dairy twist vanilla chocolate flavor. We both went with medium size and they were huge! Especially the oreo freezie. In comparison to DQ sizes, it was like a large. Wanted to add an updated review after going for my first ice cream of the season. Quick service, friendly staff and good ice cream. I can't really speak to all the other ice cream because I'm dairy free, but the dairy free soft serve tastes great. They have a ton of flavors they can make it and it's so nice to be able to get dairy free frozen treats that isn't just fruit flavor or a sorbet! Pro tip - make sure to mix up your frostie, the toppings don't distribute as much to the bottom, but I've always gotten plenty and it works well if you just mix it up! I had the frostie with chocolate dairy free soft serve and oreos and it was great. My husband got a butterscotch dip and said it was delicious! The drive through is a great option. Didn't use it this time because there was a line up and it was faster to just park and walk up, but definitely nice when you don't want to get out of the car or the weather isn't great. read more

Initially, they prepared my banana split. However, during the process, I noticed the employee discarding fruit into the garbage can, some of which landed on the brim. They then used the same knife to remove the fruit from the brim before continuing to prepare the next order. After setting my banana split on the counter, they took just under ten minutes to prepare my brownie sundae. Upon placing the banana split in the bag, I mentioned to the employee that the ice cream seemed to have melted. His response was dismissive, saying, "That's just the juices." Despite my reservations, I allowed him to bag my order. Upon arriving home seven minutes later, I found the banana split completely melted. Attempts to contact the ice cream shop by phone were unsuccessful. As for the brownie sundae, I discovered that the fudge and cherry were beneath the ice cream, difficult to discern because the whipped cream was on top and a lid was placed over the sundae for travel. While eating the sundae, I was chewing on what I initially thought was an almond skin but turned out to be wax paper left on the brownie. Considering the crowd, I didn't mind waiting over 20 minutes between arrival and actually collecting my order. The woman of Asian descent who took my order was very pleasant and left a positive impression. My main issues revolve around the lack of training and supervision among the staff. Given my experience, coupled with the fact that their prices align with those of well-known ice cream parlors, I will frequent establishments with a more reputable track record in the future. read more

Whoa. Maybe I have to give soft serve another chance. I have often wondered just what the point of soft serve is. The texture's often icy, the flavor never really that satisfying. If I'm going to rack up the calories for some ice cream, I'm almost always going straight for the hand-scooped variety. After a small hot fudge sundae from Frosty Freeze, though, I may be reconsidering my position on this scoop vs. soft serve issue. I don't know what they do to make the texture of the soft serve here so dang smooth, but Ryan is right -- it's a bit amazing. The texture is a bit different than most soft serve -- almost more creamy, like frozen custard. I'm not usually in ice-cream mode when I'm in this neck of the woods. It's often mid-day and I'm running errands or headed here and there. But then again... if I can enjoy soft serve, well then I guess I can have Frosty Freeze any time of day, too! read more

I've never had anything other than just a cone, but the ice cream is really good. They also have several kinds of dips like chocolate, cherry, butterscotch, chocolate peanut butter and blue raspberry. After reading the previous reviews I kind of expected to be blown away by the ice cream here, unfortunately that was not the case. Drove the the drive thru which two cars were ahead of me, wait was about 12 mins. I ordered a small Reese cup freeze, which is basically their version of a DQ Blizzard. I agree with what other writers said about the creaminess of the soft serve, that much is true but the freeze itself was blah. The only Reese cups were on the top, it was not well blended at all. And there was probably a teaspoon of Reese's in the whole thing so it was mostly a cup of vanilla ice cream. Pretty disappointed. read more

They are not nice here, not accommodating ie when my son asked for a cherry on his sundae, the girl said "what do you mean?" When I told her he just wants one like the picture out here, she replied with I don't know what that picture looks like. Also they still use styrofoam... won't be going back as customers seem to be an inconvenience and the workers don't know how to put a cherry on a sundae for a 4 year old. I scream (like the old saying goes) a lot for ice cream. Frosty Freeze is a great place to stop when in the Berkley area. They offer soft-serve in Vanilla and Chocolate as well as the recent trend in flavor bursts where they can add flavoring to create up to 30 different flavors (maybe more?) The first thing I heard about Frosty Freeze is part of the reason why I keep returning. . . Chocolate Peanut Butter Dip--and we're not talking tobacco, that's just wacko. Despite being messy once you get about halfway through a cone, having it dipped in flavor always makes it more exciting. Frosty Freeze has the standards of Chocolate, Butterscotch, Cherry, but also offers Chocolate Peanut Butter and Blue Raspberry! They used to have a Cotton Candy flavor too that was also top notch. When you're on the go there's even a drive through and they take credit cards. And if soft-serve is not isn't your shtick they also have hand-dipped ice cream. Can you really go wrong when the building is pink? I think not. Plus the ice cream actually has decent flavor and is quite inexpensive. Coneheads assemble! I bet you every kid in the People's Republic knows where this stand is, the hours it is open, and the day the screens roll up the window. Half of them probably worked here during the summer. It's an institution just like Clark's but a whole different sundae. Soft serve by definition is a curious blend of dairy-like substances swirled out of an ancient machine that groans and whirs as much as your grandpa watching CSI. It comes out in Esscher like spirals on a cone probably made of 25% recycled materials. And yet it tastes peculiarly good, endlessly customized with sprinkles, nuts, syrups, plastic dots, and other foods that will probably be found undigested in the guts of albatrosses and small fish in the mid-Pacific. I'm not doing a great job of selling this, am I? With 49 flavours of soft serve and probably a few more secrets up its sleeve, Tasty served ice cream is pretty good. I have been slowly working my way through standbys and old favourites, and I conclude there is no rhyme or reason for one flavour being better than another. Banana is a disaster. Black cherry was great. Almond, not so much. Orange tastes like medicine. The great fun, as the kids know, is exploring the gustatory landscape. They have all the sundaes, milkshakes, and frozen drinks you could possibly want. Combinations are easily done, just ask what you want. Some of the menu boards were printed in 1995, so kick it old school asking for a really off the wall flavour you won't find anywhere else. The stand also has a drive thru, which is endlessly amusing when we've walked by to get a cone and see a long line of cars with half the teen population of the People's Republic loitering outside. I bet you could make a real impact having a business meeting, city council meeting, or any sort of public assembly here. Laws could be passed! Edicts determined, and bylaws ratified! I have been in love with this place for years! I don't know what they put in their soft serve but it makes the texture so smooth and creamy! It's addictive! They have a large variety of ice creams, dips, sundaes, freezies (ice cream with candy and stuff mixed in) and slushes. There is nothing on their menu more that $6, they have a drive thru (so convenient), and they accept credit cards with a $5 minimum. For a small ice cream spot in a small town, they get A LOT of business, especially on hot days and around dinner time. The benches are filled with families and kids every time I come here. Sometimes, the wait in the drive thru line can be about 10 minutes or over but trust me....IT IS WORTH IT!!!! read more

My boyfriend & I live down the street from Frosty Freeze and find ourselves there way more often than my waistline would like :) ...The "non fat-sugar free" yogurt actually tastes good (unlike other local ice cream joints), they accept credit cards (unlike other places) and i absolutely LOVE that they have a drive-thru (again, unlike the others). Beyond disgusted, bugs in their ice cream! I went here in the middle of the summer about 15 min before they close and ordered a hot fudge sundae. I drove home (I live about 2 blocks away) with my treat and started eating it while walking into my house. About 3 bites in I noticed there was something solid in my mouth (I didn't order nuts, just soft serve and hot fudge). I spit the bite out onto the ground and it was a fly!!! There was no way the fly flew into my sundae on the way in because I took the bite from deep in the sundae, it was not from the top. I called the restaurant and it rang & rang and finally their voicemail picked up. I let them know they either needed to clean their soft serve or hot fudge out. Our company has had Frosty Freeze in Colorado Springs supply our ice cream/fruit juice novelties for the past 3 years for our annual ice cream social. We have almost 600 employees in our building. Michelle, co-owner, of Frosty Freeze brings us one large ice cream cart with an umbrella and a smaller cart with an umbrella - perfect for our needs. We begin distributing the ice cream/juice bar novelties outdoors from 1:30-3:00 p.m., and bring in the leftovers to distribute to those employees who aren't able to get away from their desks. One of our Activities Committee members wears a white shirt, with a white soda jerk paper hat, and a red/white checkered bow tie and exclaims "Get your ice cream treats here" in a very loud voice. When he's distributing the ice cream novelties in our building, he loads ice cream truck music on his cell phone and plays it loud as he distributes the frozen goodies - what a hoot! We had ordered some frozen juice bars, but later learned they are creamy frozen fruit bars and contain milk in them. We had a few lactose-intolerant employees who were disappointed they couldn't partake in the frozen treats. I mentioned this to Michelle at Frosty Freeze, and she was quick to bring by a complimentary box of the strawberry frozen fruit bars which do NOT contain milk for those employees who missed out at our ice cream social.
