A must if you need a spot to grab some snacks after coming down the hill from Sonora or a day trip to the snow. Or maybe to refuel after a day of outdoor activities at nearby New Melones Lake. My favorite thing to get is a shake or an ice cream cone (pro tip: ask for a cup on the side since those mountain high servings are bound to fall over). You will have to wait a bit for your food but I guess it's good to know they make it fresh. Every little town has a hangout place, often with ice cream and burgers. According to reviews, this used to be such a place. It looked interesting enough to try on the way back from Sonora. The menu has quite a few items. As we were ordering, what we were told made it sound as though they get everything frozen and heat it up or actually cook it. I ordered fish and fries, a Mountain Dew, and my buddy ordered a burrito and a Dr. Pepper. It was difficult to order, as it didn't seem that either of us could hear through the little window. After a short while, they asked if we wanted our drinks. Apparently, they had already dispensed them and were going to let them sit until the food was ready. It seemed a rather long time before the food was ready, and we were the only people there. The fish had a lot of oil inside the breading. The fries were fine. I suspect that the oil used for the fish was old and had not been filtered for a while, either. The burritos seemed not much different from Aldi's Steak and Cheese Chimichangas, fried and all, with shredded beef and cheese. The more of the fish I ate, the more I wasn't feeling well. It was a little mushy inside the back half of the slice. I got the feeling that the ladies working had been there since their high school days and they never learned really good work habits. They didn't seem to care if anyone showed up or not. It was good that I tried the place but I don't know that I would return. We were called liars and had to prove we didn't receive it. Leave the parking lot and we are missing an entire meal completely. Went back less than 5 minutes later. Called a liar again while your employees bad mouthed us the entire time. My husband asked them not talk crap while the customers can here and your employee responded with "f*** you, we didn't want to serve you anyway" if this is how you treat your customers, your business will not thrive. I asked for a Caesar Salad in a metrosexual voice, explaining that I'm from Berkeley; the young guy finally realized that I was joking (besides, I'm not really from Berkeley). Both of us ordered a medium cone, the Hunny wanted hers dipped in chocolate, and also a Coke. Due to a mixup in communication, she got a small, and she was disappointed in that. "That'll be $18.37" -- huh? "Sorry, I mean EIGHT thirty-seven." Maybe he was getting me back for my Berkeley joke. Jimtown Frosty is a hangout place, and if that's your idea of a low-key date, then it works well. We saw the poor 2.5 star review, but were tempted by the 95 degree heat on our trip to Jamestown to get a refreshing and cooling treat. We tried giving them a chance, but honestly WE SHOULD HAVE TRUSTED THE POOR YELP REVIEWS AND RATINGS! First, We are from LA and it's very common for restaurants to have a letter grading posted from a restaurant inspection by the health department. For example, A, B or C like in school. This place, similar to most in the area, did not have such a posting. I will assume it's a different county that does not require it? Second, there were flies everywhere. Flies outside the patio while we waited in line. Dead flies on the counter when we ordered. Flies floating around inside their kitchen as they cooked people's food. The final straw was I saw a can of RAID insect spray next to the grill, which was also next to sodas and orders ready for pick up. If you have an insect problem, you need to fix it. You should not use those products in a kitchen facility, especially when cooking and preparing food. I cannot believe I paid for this. It was the most expensive trash I ever threw out without eating. Sat for 30 minutes waiting on food, asked the lady who worked there where our order was and she mumbled about reprinting the ticket. The grilled cheese is the most sad grilled cheese I've ever seen, and the fries are half over cooked. The employees of this restaurant are a perfect illustration of why minimum wage should be lowered, not raised. These blockheads also reveal why legalizing marijuana is a disaster. There were at least 8 people present all complaining that their orders were wrong, or that they didn't receive it at all.
