DO NOT USE FROSTY While it is true what others have said that the technician Terry was fantastic, the management at Frosty is not trustworthy. They low-balled an estimate when they had knowledge of the unit, the specific part needed, and the industry standard for labor. And when the job was completed in less than time than expected, the final invoice came back 70% higher than the high-end of the estimated range. The misleading initial estimate was either fraudulent in order to get the job, or incompetent. Terry should work for someone else. I would not trust Frosty. read more

I am so grateful we found this company. We have geothermal and have a service contract with Frosty Refrigeration. generally the unit is problem free. However,this morning we realized the house was not keeping cool. The thermostat told me to call for service. I called around 12:00 pm. Kyle arrived at 3 and was here 2 hours. Frosty should be what to expect from the office staff. Staff hung up on me when I tried to get info on a bill that has no explanation. I was told "you might think what you think about our billing, but you are wrong." Wow. The tech guys seem to do what they can but the office staff is Baltimore unhelpful. I was told I had received the benefit of a helper on my visits that I hadn't been charged for. I hadn't asked for the helper. I wasn't even told he was needed. My sense was he was in training. Be aware when you book these folks that once the tech is gone you are left to deal w unprofessional office staff. read more

I called frosty to check out my system and was delighted to know that they would be to my house within the hour! My service tech was John, the grandson of the original man behind the company. John was very thorough in his search for my ac problem and refilled my refrigerant. When he came into the house he put on his shoe slips and evaluated the system. I would certainly recommend frosty to anyone in the baltimore area Coming back after two years to add to my rave reviews. I had to have them out last year to do another check, apparently my AC was leaking coolant due to a recall. John was my tech again and remembered my system and house. They are not the cheapest, but the quality of their work is above average and their pricing is fair. They do not try and sell you unnecessary equipment and services. I contacted Frosty Refrigeration to obtain a maintenance contract on my geothermal system. They said I would need to pay for one service visit before they would agree to a contract. I agreed and set up the appointment. The technician came out and in the front door and I showed him where the thermostat was (near the front door) and then took him downstairs to show him the geothermal unit. I stayed with him most but not all the time. He asked me if I could go up stairs and put the unit on different settings which I did several times at his request. I think he also looked at it least once. When he was done I went to look for my check book and he left the house on his own. I met him at his truck and paid him and he said he didn't see any reason why they wouldn't want to do a maintenance contract. Over a month later I received the maintenance contract in the mail about the same time I received my BGE electric bill. For the month of December the amount was twice what it was the year before. I went downstairs and looked at the geothermal system and it appeared to be running normally. I then went to the thermostat, taped the screen for it to light up so I could see it and saw it was on emergency heat which I changed back to normal heating mode. I called Frosty and said I thought their technician had left the system on emergency heat, my electric bill was twice what it normally was and wanted to know what they intended to do about this situation. They said they would call me back. The next day I received a call from the service manager who told me he spoke with the technician and that he did not leave the unit on emergency heat. I asked if this something they tested when they did the inspection. He said yes it is but he didn't see how a grown man could walk by the thermostat and not see it was on emergency heat. I could see this conversation was headed nowhere so I told him I didn't see the point of continuing the conversation ended the call. I thought that was it, later in the day I received the following email from him: Equipment : Waterfurnace Model# NDV064A111NTR Serial# 090600320 Dear Sir, My service technician (George) was called to your residence on 12/03/14 for a season check where he performed needed services.He juiced the geo loop and checked the entire system. The ONLY thing he did not check was your thermostat because YOU never let him into the living space.You were pre-occupied with some hunting plans and did all the running for him into the house to set all functions.I consider all of my men very honorable and take it as an insult to him, myself and our company as a whole that YOU would imply so! THEREFORE our contract offer IS HEREBY WITHDRAWN.PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CONTACT our offices for any other reason than an apology. Called them 2x with heat pump problems & both times they responded promptly and did not screw me with the cost of service. A friend of mine works for one of their competitors -- she told me he is pressured to try to sell new units on every service call, no matter how old a system might be. None of that b.s. with Frosty. Having problems with your heat in the dead of winter is no fun but the folks at Frosty make it as painless as possible. I had a tricky problem that required multiple visits and, even on weekends, someone would come out within a few hours of my call. I don't know anybody with a heating and air system in Baltimore who doesn't konw Frosty and respect them for being the best, but what happen in my home two weeks ago would bring tears to a crocodile eyes. Two months ago, I had a tech come in and service my system- it's a 25 year old 90Traine which had given nightmares in the past until last year,I had major repairs done to it by..yep you guess it FR. On or about the 40th day since service, the system failed . Naturally you called the person who last worked on it but, this tale has twist. A different tech came out , took 2.5 hours to determine what the problem was- a burnt out control board- then took two more days to repair it. My complaint about the master? the system is simple and not complicated...why two and half hours for something in your face? According to some friends in the business, power to the unit should have been the first thing look for. The lesson cost me $500.00(after SVCMGT. adustment) In my opinion, the tech gouded me because my wife wasn't watch the clock. I'll be careful in the future and be at home to check the progress of the tech myself. Happy Holidays to them, mine was screwed. read more
