Decent café food. Nothing special. I ordered the Royale. That's a sandwich with smoked turkey, Swiss, avocado, lettuce, tomato, basil mayo*, served warm on toasted multigrain. It was like what you'd expect from Panera or Starbucks. The flavors were muted. The bread did most of the heavy lifting. This is a café that does light lunch fare. It's not that great. We visited Frothy Monkey last night before a show at TPAC. The ambience is great (casual, quirky) and the servers were really nice. But service itself was really slow, and while parts of our meal were good... others were mediocre. We were having a date night so we chose to sit in the full-service section that's available after 5pm. Next time we will sit at the bar or in one of the no-service areas. We will be back to this location again before a TPAC show, but otherwise we will stick to the location in the Nations where we have had better experiences. We ate (from the March 2019 menu): -Sweet Potato Hummus (the hummus itself was great but the flatbread it came with was charred to a crisp) -Salmon Sandwich- very tasty- highly recommend ! I stopped in for breakfast and was disappointed by the menu. It's basically all sandwich options. I ordered the California, subbing Dijon for the salsa. The food was pretty good, but it took a good 20mts to get to me. And the sour dough was hard to bite into. I'm not sure why it took so long when the place was fairly empty. I had to rush and eat. I got a black coffee and asked about refills. They charge $0.75 for refills. That seems odd in this day and age. Staff was friendly. Prices were ok. Food quality was good enough. Oh my gosh, The Frothy Monkey was absolutely amazing! I was just on a girls trip in Nashville and stayed right down the street. I had some time to kill on a Monday morning, so I thought I'd come here for breakfast. Honestly, it's a little unorganized coming in the front door. There's what looks like a hostess stand, but it just tells you to grab a menu. Then, there's a jumble of people waiting up at the counter and you can't really tell who's looking at the menu, who has ordered and who is just waiting for their food. The food was decent, but nothing spectacular that I couldn't fix in my own kitchen. As expected, the coffee was the real MVP. I tried the Turtle Latte, which was some mixture of Caramel and Praline and the flavor was spectacular. Next time I'm downtown during the morning, I'll definitely return here. I visited Frothy Monkey earlier this week and it is one of my favorite spots for breakfast / lunch in the downtown area. I had a cappuccino and the plain Jane breakfast sandwich with bacon and avocado. It was great visiting them on a Tuesday, basically no line and the food came out quick. If you go on the weekend you may have to wait in line a little, but it is still fairly quick. Their space is big and is seat yourself, plenty of tables for small and large groups (and individuals). All of their ingredients are fresh and they try for locally sourced items. The establishment is clean, including the bathrooms. Service is friendly and prompt. This was not the original location, but still as equally tasty. Parking downtown can be a little limited, but I lucked out and got a spot right up front. Not very crowded early in the morning, I was able to order my matcha and food rather quickly. The barista there is very knowledgeable and is able to handcraft you almost any beverage. The restaurant itself is very trendy and there are multiple options for places to sit. There is also light music playing throughout that you can listen to while you wait for your meal. Overall, it took less than 15min total for my food, my drink took less than 5. All staff were very friendly, and in my short visit, the manager even walked by and said good morning. I would definitely like to visit the original someday, but this place is equally as great. If in the neighborhood, I highly recommend stopping by and picking up a handcrafted beverage from there awesome baristas! read more

This was probably my favorite breakfast we had during our trip to Nashville. I ordered the Jane breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel and added bacon. The Jane has basil and feta with tomato and it was delicious! The tomato was perfectly ripe and flavorful. It could have maybe had a little more feta but was still really good. I also ordered a seasonal latte- the whiskey maple latte which was absolutely delicious. Our first food stop in Nashville was the Frothy Monkey (which I kept calling the Flying Monkey). It was full inside so we sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine, although it wasn't quite warm enough yet. Passed by here on a Tuesday night. The front half is full service while the upstairs area and the back are self-service. When you walk in, you are blown away by the great smell of freshly brewed coffee. While the menu didn't offer a lot of choices for dinner, I went ahead and got the chicken and grits. There are multiple locations throughout Nashville; I've been to both this one and the 12th South location and much prefer this one since it is roomier with more seating options available. However, the food/coffee and staff at both locations are great. My favorite entrees here are California and the Royale sandwich - seriously, it's one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and I normally don't enjoy cold cut turkey.
