I've been a regular at Frothy Monkey for years, but my experience today was incredibly disappointing. I ordered an 8 oz steamed milk for my one-year-old baby and was charged $4. After waiting quite a while (which is typical at FM), the barista handed me the milk. When I poured it into my baby's bottle--with clear measurement markings--it only filled 4 oz. When I asked about it, the barista told me "that's our 8 oz." That explanation made no sense as I was looking at the clear marking that showed a 4 oz. pour, so I asked to speak with a manager. The "manager" came over and repeated the same explanation. I clarified that my concern was very simple: I paid for 8 oz of milk but only received 4 oz. His solution was to queue up another "8 oz" cup of milk and would make it quickly, which I initially agreed to, thinking he was going to right the wrong. However, when then rang it up and asked me for another $4. At that point I declined and left. By then my wait time had essentially tripled, my baby was crying, and it felt like I was being charged twice just to receive the amount of milk I originally paid for. I understand cafés get busy and mistakes happen. But insisting that 4 oz equals 8 oz--and then asking customers to pay again to make up the difference--feels like a blatant rip-off. If this is how portions are being represented, customers should be aware of what they're actually getting. Customers are being overcharged for half portions! read more

This was SUCH a great spot. Although I didn't stay to sit and dine, I ordered an absolutely delicious coffee up at the counter right when you enter. I ordered one of their seasonal items called 12 Karats. It was a delicious carrot cake latte (espresso, spiced carrot cake syrup, pecan and coconut milk). It was absolutely heavenly. For our coffee I got the turtle latte iced and my friend got the Blume. Shockingly the Blume was delicious as we were sure based on it having fruity and flowery flavors in it. Frothy Monkey is a staple of 12th south. Their lavender matcha is the best matcha latte I've ever had: tasty, sweet, and smooth. Their normal matcha latte is also great. The chai they have isn't my favorite, but I think it's because it's not as sweet and spiced as I normally enjoy. I've had some of their food, like their salad and their pasta, all of which is usually very good. Recently, had their toffee nut blondie, and it was huge and so rich. The waitress was so sweet and attentive and even warmed it up for us. I love the cute cozy ambience here, but it's almost always a bit of a wait to get seated. read more

This is such a cute coffee shop! We were walking around the area and it was very cold and windy out. This place caught our eye and we stepped inside. We were greeted right away and the worker was friendly. They had the menu posted outside so we knew what we were going to order. I ordered a hot small "Like Butta" latte and my sister had an iced espresso that had peanut butter in it and I cant find the name - It might've been a seasonal drink. We sat inside while we waited and it was very cozy and comfy. It was pretty busy as all the tables were taken and people kept coming and going. My drink was so goooooooood. it was so creamy, milky, and soft. Ordering it hot was the way to go and my only mistake was not ordering a bigger size. if you like creamy drinks - get this! We had plans to catch brunch at a different place in the area but it was inconveniently closed on Monday so we were lucky enough to find Frothy Monkey and it was fantastic! We were seated immediately and so excited about the great options on the brunch menu. I opted for the Cali toast and the rest of the group was envious when our breakfast was delivered. I was in town visiting my best friend with two other friends. Our Nashville friend's boyfriend suggested that we go to brunch here after going out Thursday night. We ate here the next Friday, and arrived a little after 12 noon for our meal. There was a slight wait, but not more than 20 minutes. We window-shopped at the boutique next door and received the "table is ready" text very quickly. Our party was seated in their indoor section. I ordered the seasonal latte that had peanut butter syrup in it (not listed on the pictured menu), an everything bagel with cream cheese, and the salmon sandwich. Everything was delicious but nothing out of this world. I loved loved loved the latte, and the salmon sandwich was super filling. I wish they had added other special ingredients to the dish. I was nervous it was going to be too sweet but it wasn't at all. I think the flavor and sweetness was just right and I loved how smooth and creamy the coffee was, although I do think it could have been slightly stronger. This is a cute place with some good options for food and even better options for coffee! We came for a team breakfast meeting and I happily ordered two different coffees to try (one latte with almond milk and a little vanilla, and then an iced almond milk lavender latte - YUM). I had the classic breakfast so I could try a bunch of different things - it was a HUGE plate of food and I did my best to eat most of it! Everyone enjoyed their meals and the food came out pretty quickly and was nice and hot. Service was a little hit or miss for us -- we were seated right away and got our coffee orders in quickly. Once we ordered our food, it was a bit of a wait and our food didn't come out at the same time. Mine took an extra 10 minutes and another in our party was missing his side of eggs for his hash. I was always missing silverware so it took us a few minutes to get some before I could actually eat, and by that point, everyone was finishing up their dishes. I got the Joanne (coffee with blackberry syrup and lemon cream). I didn't love it but appreciated the fun flavor profile. For food, we shared the farm burger and a kale Cesar salad with chicken. We waited about 30 minutes for a table of 4. Other places had a wait time of up to 2 hours. Collectively, we didn't love the food. Much of it was bland and we asked for sauces to add more flavor into our food. In addition to the lack in food quality, the service was not good. I love the atmosphere of Frothy, the severs are so kind and I've had multiple great experiences trying their various coffee and tea beverages!!
