One of the weekends each month they do food products only, and the other Saturday it's kind of an open fair thing where anyone can go so you'll get people who make all sorts of things. We're particularly partial to the local meats from Windy Hill because they are always delicious. This lady from Waggin' Tail treats comes there a lot too and she makes the best dog treats ever. Also there's a company that brings fresh pasta called Lucido's Produce & Herbs which is phenomenal. They even have frozen ravioli in all kinds of flavors which are omgtodiefor. The vendors either take cash or check. You can get cash from inside the gas station, the cashier will do it for you for a $2 charge (like an ATM). It's in the parking lot of the Green Spot Market & Fuels, which also has probably the best taco place in Dallas (Good 2 Go Taco). Awesome! Overall, I absolutely love this part of my community and I'm going to miss it terribly when I move next year. Below are all the dates left for 2010: September 11 September 25* October 9 October 23* November 13 December 11 (* = food only)

Super cute local market in Lakewood!…read more I think the term "farmers market" is a misnomer since there was only an itty bitty selection of produce and fresh foods. What they do offer is lots of local products like baked goods, soaps, salsas and unique crafts. I love supporting small, local businesses so this market is right up my alley. I copped some yummy French macaroons and a spicy marinade that I can't wait to try with some fish for dinner. It's small and the location changes every other week so be sure to check their website before you head out. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area but I would not make a special trip or anything.

If you have questions the folks behind the counter are friendly and knowledgeable. Weekdays especially after 3 pm are always crazy with longer lines. Going earlier in the day is preferable. I need to talk about Central Market on Lovers Lane and I need to talk about BP and I need to talk…read moreabout the produce section and I only have so many words so let's move. The produce section first because if I do not address it immediately I will think about it the whole time. Walking into the Central Market produce section is the closest a grocery store has ever come to making me feel like a child at Disney World. Not Disney World adjacent. Not Disney World inspired. Full Disney World. There are colors happening in that produce section that I did not know vegetables were capable of. Heirloom tomatoes in seventeen shades. Peppers that look like they were designed by an artist who was told to make a pepper but make it fashion. Mushrooms with names I cannot pronounce displayed like they are artifacts from a civilization that understood fungi better than we do. I have walked in there for one specific item and come out forty minutes later with things I have never cooked before and a quiet optimism about my future in the kitchen that has not always proven accurate but always feels real in the moment. I went once just for garlic. One head of garlic. I left with dragon fruit, three kinds of fresh pasta, a bunch of herbs that required me to look up two of them when I got home, and a wheel of cheese that I told myself was practical. It was not practical. I regret nothing. Now BP. BP runs the prepared foods counter at Central Market Lovers Lane and is the reason I sometimes drive there when I am not even hungry. BP was a high school math teacher in California for years. Years. Shaping young minds, writing equations on whiteboards, presumably grading papers on weekends with the quiet resignation of someone who has chosen a noble and exhausting profession. And then at some point BP looked at California, looked at Dallas, made a decision, and moved. He did most of the moving himself. I want you to think about that. This man, who spent years teaching mathematics, looked at a truck full of his belongings and said I will handle this personally. The kind of move that requires a certain stubbornness and also a pretty solid understanding of spatial reasoning which, given the math background, he had covered. BP is now behind the prepared foods counter at Central Market and is genuinely one of the warmest humans I have encountered on either side of a deli case. He talks to you like he has time, which in a prepared foods counter context is unusual and should be protected at all costs. He knows what is good that day. He will tell you. You should listen. Excellent store. Exceptional produce section. BP is the best part of the prepared foods counter and possibly of Lovers Lane entirely.

I have repeatedly used them for large parties at my home. Excellent results…read more so, I thought, when I wanted to get something just for myself I would order a couple of brisket sandwiches for delivery. With delivery and tip, I paid almost $45 for two brisket sandwiches. I am sorry to report I was more than disappointed. 1) I got a chopped beef sandwich full of fat and what I think was gristle whereas I expected sliced brisket on a bun. 2) When ordered I selected delivery at 11:45 am. Delivery was closer to 12:30 pm. 3) the sandwiches were not freshly made. Obviously been made hours or days ahead. The pickles and onions I ordered on the sandwiches were limp and tasteless. So nasty that in the end I pulled just the meat off the buns, scraped off the pickles and onions and just ate the meat.

We wanted to just drive around the lake (which as it turns out isn't actually possible, we will wait until it is less hot to try the bike trail). This place is highly rated and I believe I remember something about the DLT (duck, lettuce and tomato) sandwich on DDD a loooong time ago. Today was the day, it is located in a strip mall and there is only about 4 counter seats, so we were prepared to eat in the car, but the place was empty. We ordered from the pretty grumpy/personality devoid cashier and waited for our order. He didn't greet us, he mumbled back one word answers to our questions, he didn't even really tell us when our food was up, it was placed on the counter and I had to ask if it was ours... (come on man!, you are the front of house, PLEASE make an effort!) We ordered 2 sandwich combo plates, mine was the DLT with beans and hubbs got the brisket sammy with chili-mac. Both for me were pretty underwhelming. Not much smoke flavor and just okay in terms of delicious-ness. I did enjoy the cherry sauce on the DLT, I did not enjoy the raw onions on the brisket. I would love to say I wanna go back to try other things, but I just won't - it just wasn't good enough. Note I rarely give 3 stars, so this is a low score for me. The chili-mac had about 1/4" of water on the bottom of it. I did like the beans, but the "combo" side is minuscule, only slightly larger than those containers that you get your sauce in from Raising Cane's. Also - can we just PLEASE upgrade to perforated paper towels on the counter, I bet you think you are saving money with the cheap un-perforated ones, but really - I wasted so much more of the roll trying to get them to rip off. Some reviews mentioned the delicious desserts (the cherry crumble) - but they were out of everything except the banana pudding, so we passed and went to the highly rated bakery in the same strip mall a few stores down.
