I was craving fruit so badly and this was the closest location to my home. It is a humble spot, no huge flair or decorations. Just simple. The fruit was fresh and plentiful. Although I do wish they had mango. The big styrofoam container allowed for 5 different options. And she filled it to the point it wouldn't close! Yay! The only negative was there was no greeting, no smile from the employee. But oh well. The fruit was so good I will be coming back! read more

I love this place. Everything in there is so fresh. You can literally see the fruit they're using on one side of the wall. They have so many different fruit and flavor options. They're so sweet and I love this business because they truly make everything fresh and from scratch. I am unsure if it's Hispanic owned but that's who works the place and they always make sure to get it right & they're quick. It's not fancy but you can def sit in there and have your drink but it's more of an in & out place. They have fruits, fresh fruit bars (popsicles), and other stuff. 10/10 recommend if you're looking for another option outside or those expensive juicing bars. read more

I tried mangonada for the first time, it was good but I'm not a person who likes spicy food. Not bad! They also have aqua frescas, which I love! Try the watermelon with lemon mixed! But, it doesn't stop there! I am so happy that someone recommended Fruteria Cano to me. I really hate myself everyday that I go to Starbucks and buy a coffee and a pastry and I end up spending $9 AND having 800 calories before lunch. Fruteria cano is a healthier alternative to a rushed/on the go breakfast. I love to go in the morning for a $4.50 huge plate of fruit with yogurt and granola. Their licuados (smoothies) are also great. They could basically make you a fresh squeezed juice or smoothie while you wait. I used to go to The Juice bar and spend like $9 for a smoothie, what a sucker! Fruit is expensive, so I don't mind paying their prices. I think that if you are someone that doesn't mind paying $5 for coffee in order to hold a fancy cup, then it's hypocritical to complaint about the price of a huge plate of fruit. This is the place to get the most authentic Mexican snacks and fresh fruit. I came specifically for the rusa but I heard great things about the fresas and crema. I had to get it. I knew I couldnt finish them both but I got them anyway. I don't regret my decision at all! The Rusa is a mix of chamoy with sprite/club soda with fruits and extra chamoy on top. The cup is never big enough! The fruits are always overflowing and so much to enjoy. It comes with a chamoy straw. It is such a nice extra touch. Rusa was about $5.50. Strawberry was also around $5.50. I got a small but she gave me a lot!!!! the cream was oozing out the container. That could easily be shared between three or four people. My friend and I come often to this location for one thing: Strawberries and Cream! aka Fresas con Crema! We like this sweet treat as a dessert or sometimes as just an afternoon treat. Hulled strawberries mixed with a thick, creamy...uhh cream. (TWSS?) This place also has a lot of whole fruit for sale, cut up and prepared fruits, (for more choices to be paired with the cream), and other various desserts: cakes, ice creams, agua frescas drinks. I have had horchata here, and it was cheap and refreshing on a hot summer day! $1 for a small horchata? Yes please! Mmmm...so delicious, and so rich that a small is more than plenty. The "small" here is equivalent to a Starbucks "big fat momma" size, just for some perspective. $2.25 for a "grande" strawberry agua fresca (basically sugar water with real crushed/pureed strawberries)? Oh man. This thing is as HUGE -- it will NOT fit in your drink holder -- as it is deliciously refreshing. Talk about getting your money's worth. The menu is overwhelmingly massive and entirely in Spanish. I pulled out my phone and was frantically Googling translations since the lady behind the counter was super speedy and no-nonsense, and I felt pressured to order quickly. She also spoke minimal English, although she gave it a shot ("hielo? ice?"). Here are some things I learned in my frantic Googling: - Platano = banana - Rompope = "an egg-nog like drink" with rum, eggs, milk, and vanilla - Lechera = sweetened condensed milk All of these (and other things) were ingredients in some amazing concoction called "Gloria," which I definitely will be ordering next time. Tonight, I stuck with my horchata. My husband is eager to go back and try other agua frescas. And while we were in there, a family was eating something that looked like a waffle or funnel cake with crazy toppings, so clearly the menu is expansive and will require lots more trips in order to fully Google-translate everything on it. This by far is the worst Fruteria that I have been to. The service is terrible and it's apparent that the people working here do not want to be here. Their actions cause the customer to feel extremely unwanted as if they are a inconvenience to them. Been there a few times and gave it multiple tries, but each time I was disappointed. I tried the fresas con crema but it was really just rotting strawberries with simple cream with no true flavor, just sugar. Then I tried the aguas like Jamaica, horchata, piña and others only to have the same thing SUGAR! Literally just rotting old fruit just dunked and mixed with so much sugar to compensate for it all. And then the worst of it was the ice cream, I just got a small little styrofoam bowl of the ice cream the size of my palm and it was a grand total of $4.00. With that much money I can get larger portions of ice cream at braums or Dairy Queen. I tried to enjoy this ironically cheap tasting ice cream only to almost choke on and spit out A PIECE OF PLASTIC FROM A PLASTIC BAG. I was beyond horrified and threw away the ice cream immediately. This place is like a Mexican dessert/snack/fruit/aqua fresca/cake shop. They serve fruit, ice cream, and cake goodies as well as some savory snacks. Treats like cut fruit, slices of cake, and ice cream concoctions...even whole fruit. I tried their strawberries topped with coconut, and this delicious sweet creama that I could have eaten a bowl of...all on its own. What a fun little spot! This is essentially Mexican fruit and dessert spot. When you walk in you're immediately confronted by a glass case filled with sliced and ready-to-go fruits, mostly tropical fruits. You can get a small to-go container of three kinds of fruits for $3-something, and a large to-go container with up to six fruits for $5-something. Mine came with lime and a container of chili powder. To the right are bins of whole fresh fruit, just like the grocery store. Another glass case holds chili-covered whole mangos and chocolate covered strawberries, or you can go to their ice cream section - who knew Blue Bell was reaching out to the Mexican demographic? You can order fruit with chili and lime, fruit with cream, fruit with yogurt, fruit with various toppings, smoothies, energy drinks.. .etc. I have no idea the full range of possibilities, but the menu suggests there are plenty! I love this joint! I am really lucky to have something so unique and refreshing so close to my job. Nothing cools me off on a hot summer day like a giant aqua fresca (so many flavors, but watermelon and lemon are my favorite). The grande will run you about $2... what a deal! The employees are always very nice and helpful, and they suffer through my poor Spanish enough to get me what I need. They sell whole fruit, cut up fruit at kick ass low prices, and tons of other stuff that I haven't had a chance to sample yet. You must try the fresas con crema- seriously good stuff.
