Their prices are outrageous! New employee worked on my A/C unit. Did not call before showing up. Did not ask before putting on items that my A/c did not need. 20 minutes later the bill was presented. He could not tell me why the bill was $600 ,for 20 minutes of work. I did need a new compressor, a $100 part. Also said that my unit is old they want to charge $12,000 to replace. Crazy!! That is for a mid range unit. Will try elsewhere. Not sure that the new employee knew what he was talking about. Go elsewhere. However, the receptionist was awesome. These people will try to rip you off! Frymire had bought a small, reliable AC company that I'd used previously so I ended up talking to them when the 6 yr. old unit developed a leak. They put 4 lbs. of coolant in the unit the same day, then 10 days later the unit was empty again. We asked if they could find & repair the leak & they said they'd have to put in a whole new unit for over $8000. We don't have that kind of money in the middle of COVID 19 so my husband (an electrician) bought & replaced the unit himself the next day. We called Frymire back to get them to charge the unit & they more than doubled the cost of the coolant, trying to charge me almost $900 just for the coolant! I'm sure they were upset that they lost an $8K sale so they were going to try to get as much money out of us as they could. We had another AC company do the job for considerably less. read more

Please beware, I recently purchased a new ac unit through them, after they inspected my prior unit and advised me that it needed to be replace. I did get one from them, and I wish I hadnt. It ran okay for the first 4 months, and now they have been at my house 6 times in a matter of days. Each tech that comes quickly states the previous tech forgot to do something during installation and inspection. My unit is still not working properly, the outside unit hasnt functioned since they started working on it. I am in the process of proceeding with legal action, due to the faulty system that is in installed. I have called several times and no response. I really wish i would have checked with the BBB, before working with this company. I am very disappointed. I will never use Frymire again. I scheduled an appointment to have a bathroom faucet that I had bought installed. I could get NO price range for this and was told I would be charged an $89 service charge whether I used their service or not. The repairman came said it would be $312 to install the faucet, which I found excessive but went ahead since I was already $89 into Frymire. I asked him to fix the toilet that ran too much and without even touching the toilet he quoted me $415 to fix it. Outrageous! Then he said I needed a new toilet for $600. I said no. Two weeks later the area under the sink he installed was wet with the faucet leak. He returned to fix it and told me Home Depot's plumbing products were made with plastic and he couldn't tighten the pipe to stop the leak because it would break. He said he would install one of his brass pipes for $200. I told him I would report to Home Depot that he said their products were inferior. Then he decided that the leak was just a washer and he'd fix it for free. THIS WAS A SCAM! He was trying to gouge me for a $200 item I didn't need. read more

My review is based solely on the way they handle charging for work and how they are not upfront at all with their fees. The dispatchers are trained to tell you that a dispatch is $89. Even if you are explicit in telling them what your issue is or what you need done, the fee is still $89 which goes "towards" your charges. I let them know I needed a detect and leak repair which is charged at about $550 (did not know this until the plumber had actually arrived at the house) at which point I agreed to the work. I was charged about $1350 to detect and repair a gas leak, work with the city to get a permit, got some fittings replaced on my water heater to bring it up to code and get an inspection once all was said and done. After consulting with the City on their prices for to pull a permit, the fee came to be less than $50. When I asked the plumbing manager what the fee was for permit and inspection with the city, he said the prices could range upwards of $700 which is straight up price gouging. I felt the way they handled was not fair whatsoever and would not provide an itemized receipt. Some claims require this in order to file and I was told that they are not legally able to provide a break down of costs. So there is still close to $800 that was unaccounted for. The plumber left me an invoice simply with the charged amount and no idea how much any of it cost. After consulting with several other local plumbers in the area, I am pretty certain I was over charged, there was price gouging and they definitely take advantage of stressful situations and overcharge the client. I will never use them again and I urge you to do a lot of homework before you get them to come out under the guise of the $89 dispatch fee. read more

Recently got a service plan with these guys and soon after I purchased plan, I had a problem with a new nest thermostat I ordered. This is not related to the service plan since they had not yet even been to my house. So upon inspection of the nest problem, they stated it was installed incorrectly and it caused other problems with corrosion in my furnace in the attic and that it should be replaced ($4,500.00). I did the repairs and for the most part, was completely happy. Was a little upset about the money since my home is only 3 years old but I figured, I made a mistake by hiring a Craigslist electrician to install the thermostat and this is what is cost me. Now on May 2nd 2019 they did the first part of my service plan inspecting my ac for the summer. My ac works just fine but this is what the technician (Oscar) tells my wife. (I was at work). We need a compressor replacement which is under warranty but labor will be $1,340.00. We needed a hard start for $162.00 and we needed the Plenum replaced due to mold found for $750.00. Paperwork states I have mold in my ducts from the condenser leaking and compressor replaced due to oil leaking from my ac compressor. Oh yeah, on top of all that, I had my wife ask him to write down what the name of the air filter was for the new furnace (Filter is installed in the furnace instead of my air return in the house) so I could order one that needed to be installed next month. Oscar said that he would replace the filter and leave the old one in the garage so we knew what it was in the future which he did. Now this all seemed a little fishy since my home is only 3 years old and at this point, they had only been to my house a total of 3 times. The first time was for the water heater flush and they tried to tell me that I needed to fully replace my 3 year old water heater (I Declined). The second time, they tried to sell me a whole new furnace (I did buy) and now the 3rd time, they are trying to sell the work stated previously. Well coincidentally, my brother was visiting this weekend from Florida and guess what, he is an AC technician working for a company just like Frymire but in Florida. Well He did a complete check on my system and told me everything is running perfectly. He even showed me that there was NO OIL anywhere around my compressor. Yes, my system does not have a hard start be he let me know that, even though it technically is better for the system, it really isn't that big of a deal but it's an "easy sell" for ac companies. He also told me that a lot of ac companies pay their technicians an hourly wage plus commissions for selling additional work and actually get in trouble is they are not selling any additional services. Also, just this morning out of curiosity, I climbed up in the attic and opened it up, and WOW; NO FILTER. I put the old filter sitting in the garage back in place but that's over 4 days with ac running with no filter. No telling what problems that might have caused if left out for longer. A little worried about future problems that time already cause but only time will tell I guess. If it was done on purpose, it seems to follow their business structure. If done on accident, that's just pure incompetence. I haven't a clue if this company is paying technicians to encourage unnecessary work or not but sure seems that way to me. Now it has me wondering about that $4,500.00 I already spent and whether or not I really needed it or was just ripped off. I will tell you one thing though. I paid for a yearly service contract up front and am still due for winter maintenance but I will eat the costs because there is no way I am letting this company near my home again. No way I trust them at all. After reading many reviews, this company appeared to be an overall decent company before they filed for bankruptcy but seems to be a lot of shady things going on under new ownership. I would urge people to never use Frymire. We had their maintenance program and when they came to check A/C system, their tech suggested we have our lines blown out, which was additional service and charged for. We noticed a few days later our A/C overflow still letting water flow, we called and asked them to come back. They told us it would be a $189 fee for Sat service and when we said we had already paid for the service, their manager informed us their was no warranty on that work. The technician that came said what he did should solve the problem, but if not they would come back. The technician never said their work wouldn't be under warranty. Additionally, when the appointment was booked, I was given a 2pm-4pm window. I was home before 2. At about 3 was called and told it would be closer to 4pm. No problem since it was within their "window". The technician actually showed up at 5:30 and was here til 7. I had to use vacation time and as it turned out unnecessary. I have been using Frymire services to manage by home heating and cooling needs for the last 5 years. They have provided excellent service so far and prices have been reasonable. I have heat a unit replaced and several repairs over the years. All the technicians who have serviced have been knowledgeable and courteous. I have tried other companies and most of them are interested in pushing new units or finding more issues to fix. Tip: get the yearly service contract with them. Everything is over priced for their services. I was given a quote for a new AC/furnace. Gave me a price of $13,000. Then proceeded to give me a discount which would cost me $10,000. I declined. Then I was offered a free hot water inspection. During the hot water inspection the Anode Rod was pitted and didn't need replacing yet but decided to any way. A cost of $300, when the part at Home Depot cost $40. Total RIP OFF. After being replaced the Flex hoses on top of the Hot Water Tank started leaking. Well the service tech said that would cost another $300. Total of over $600 paid for the service and replace the of the anode. I could have bought a new hot water heater for the same price. This company scalps it's customers! Will not use them again and......WOULD NOT RECOMMENDED them either!! P.S. I was called and notified the Technician would arrive in 45 minutes. We recently bought an older home and knew the HVAC was going to need replacing soon but one evening our furnace went on the fritz. We called at 6pm and they had a tech out within the hour. Bad news was the repair was going to be expensive so we we quickly got a quote to replace the entire system. They offered great terms and were about to install the system the next day (on an icy Saturday). Good thing too as temps have been below freezing for several days. The crew was fast, efficient and took great care to keep the place neat and get everything working perfectly. Our new system is working great and much quieter than the old one. Avoid this company. If I could give ZERO stars, I would! I was interested in installing a Phyn whole home water detection leak shutoff system and contacted Frymire since they were currently the only Phyn approved plumbing contractors in the Dallas area. When an employee of Frymore came out he gave me an estimate of $2,322 to provide the Phyn unit and to install it. Since the unit itself can be purchased from the manufacturer for $700, the installation / labor cost appeared to be $1,622. Since I understood from my research that average cost to install the device was between $325 and $550, I called Frymore to find out why the installation cost for my installation was so high so they could explain whether my installation was unusual or different from the norm. Since I was told by a receptionist that the person who could answer my questions (who I was told was a manager) was not available, I left my name and number and was told that person would call me back that day. In the meantime, I contacted the manufacturer of the product, Phyn, and spoke with its support team. I was told that the installation estimate I received was ridiculously high and asked to send them pictures of the area of my home where the main water shutoff was located. After several follow-up conversations, they reiterated that they felt the estimate was out of line, sincerely apologized for my unfavorable experience with its approved contractor, gave me a code for a 10% discount on the device to order directly from them, and said they would be taking action to onboard other plumbing contractors in the Dallas area to support their product. After waiting two days without receiving a return call from Frymire, I once again called and was able to speak to someone that the receptionist said was a manager. I asked him to explain to me the reason the installation cost was so high. Although he said he was not familiar with the details of the estimate, instead of telling me he would talk to the person who came to my home to determine how the labor cost was estimated, what he told me was that since Frymire was the only plumber in the Dallas area approved by the manufacturer as an installer, I was paying for their expertise and that for this reason Frymire could charge whatever they wanted. Notwithstanding my repeated efforts to get the manager to provide some reasonable rationale for the high cost of the estimate in terms of the time and difficulty of the installation, the manager refused to provide any response basically telling me that the price was the price. I did have a follow-up call with the manufacturer who said that because its product was new, they were actively seeking other plumbers in the Dallas area to approve and would be back in touch with me once they do. The manufacturer's support team also told me that the installation was not difficult and that they would be happy to provide technical support to any reputable plumber I choose to install its device. Through Nextdoor I have made my neighbors aware of my experience with Frymire and have recommended that they avoid using this disreputable company. This is not just a company that delivers bad service, this is a company that will eventually defraud you. Two techs came to my house and told me that I needed to replace my entire furnace and AC. I was suspicious especially since they serviced my AC only a few months prior and nothing was wrong then. They also said that it needed replaced right away as it was winter and they didn't think the furnace would last 2 months. They then had their salesman Chris come give me a bid to replace both. His bid was over $9000 and he told me I didn't even need to look elsewhere because no one that could beat his price. I got bids from other companies for under $5000. I also paid $85 for a second opinion from another company and was told that there was nothing wrong with my furnace or my AC and neither needed replaced. Frymeier not only didn't service my furnace they used the opportunity to tell me I has to replace everything and then sent their sales guy who gave me a bid almost double what anyone else would have charged. Stay away from these guys they will lie to your face and cheat you out of thousands of dollars if you let them. read more

Not recommended because they charge $600 over cost of a hot water heater and labor. We bought $350 water heater from them which is the price changed by anyone selling water heaters and they charged $750 for labor which came to $1100. They charged us an additional $500 just for warranty for one year for labor only, because the manufacturer has a six year warranty on the unit. The cost they said was for taxes, overhead, and miscellaneous. We signed the paper because we hadn't checked out any other dealers. This is well over $300 to $400 more than anyone else who also has overhead. They threatened us with putting a lean on our house and would not work out a better price. This outfit does a great job getting you up and running, but they take advantage of their customers. Replacing a couple parts which only cost $50 resulted in a repair bill of over $1000.00. Bought Groupon deal for tune up. I have a zone system and air was not always coming out well upstairs. This company came out and gave me $1,500+ estimate to fix the issue but tuned up NOTHING and fixed NOTHING. Called up a guy we knew and he came out and said one of the zone control switch was turned off and after he turned it on air came out great and even adjusted airflow to upstairs. He did not give us $1,500 estimate nor recommended anything to fix. He even sealed some leaks with tape made for ducks. As for this company and groupon, I will never use them again! read more

We have been a several year customer for Frymire of their home services. We recently requested Frymire Home Services to come to our house since our furnace was not working as expected and the technician came out and told us that our A/C was leaking carbon monoxide and we needed a new A/C unit. They requested we get a new 5 ton A/C Unit for 1700 square footage house and when I called them questioning why we needed that size for the A/C unit they said they were just following the Manual C for the house. They ended up calling us back and they said they checked the paperwork and they made a mistake that it should have been a 4 ton unit but the price would be the same. We requested he revisit the price given they made a mistake. He ended up calling back and given us $1000 dollars off. We ended up having a second opinion on the situation on the A/C unit and the guy said there was no Carbon Monoxide leak at all and the furnace was only 3 years old. Frymire attempted to rip off my parents 10K for a new A/C unit they didn't need. These guys have no integrity and they don't deserve your business. Stay away from these guys! read more

On May 28,2019 We had a brand new system installed by Frymire along with air duct cleaning. The air duct cleaning experience was AWFUL!! First of all when the team arrived (OC and Tim), I informed them that they were late and was supposed to be here at 8am. Tim was rude and asked if I wanted to reschedule, I asked him how long will it take, and he stated no more than 4 to 5 hours. They began the job at around 10am and it was consummated at approx 8:16pm (actually 9:15pm because I had to call OC back due to upper level thermostat not working). OC stated upon repairing the upper level thermostat that Tim did not install correctly. Along the way I asked Tim questions regarding the A/C and he stated that he only does the duct cleaning. We were told months ago that we had a leak and even though we had a new A/C system installed in 2007 by Frymire, we were told by several techs that it used R22 Freon which will become obsolete in 2020 and that the new system will be no good. The last technician that informed us was Ed. I asked Ed why did they install it if they knew that it would become obsolete and he had no answer. Today is Thursday May 30, 2019 and my A/C stopped working yesterday at around 10pm. I set it to 72 from 74 and unfortunately the inside temp went from 79 to 77 where it remained throughout the duration of the night and still today where the current time is 3:31pm. I called Frymire today and initially talked to Kiana who scheduled a 12-2pm service call. She told me that Russell will be the technician. At 2:08pm I received a call from Marcy and was told that it will be another 20 minutes, at 2:09 Tim called and as soon as he identified himself, I hung up. Approximately 10 minutes later, Tim showed up at my door and I asked him why was he here because you are not a tech and he started smirking saying yes I am, I do everything. I told him hold on and sent my Son to the door to send him away before I said the wrong thing. At 2:41pm I rcvd a call from Jason Bressler..he stated he was a customer srvc supervisor. I told him that the sevices they have provided has been highly unacceptable and that they sent the same guy to my house (Tim) that destroyed it with debree and lied about his position and I, had to clean up his mess which I'm still recovering from back pain. Also told him that my furniture was moved for duct cleaning which I had to move back myself! Jason apologized and offered a $50.00 gift card for future services. That was an insult being that I supposedly just had a brand new system installed! What ever happened to a refund amount! Jason also gave me his direct number which I learned a few minutes later that it was not in fact his direct number. I called the number back and talked to a very rude female named Nayma. This person spoke while I spoke and I informed her of how rude it was. She kept talking and I disconnected the call to call for legal advice. Tyler called me at 3:06pm and stated that he was the HVAC manager and that he would send a field sprvsr out for servicing and when I asked the name, he stated that it could be either Chad, Russell or 2 other names which I can't recall at this moment. I explained everything to him and told him that I would like a refund and my old system back because it was working way better than this so called new system. Tyler stated that if it is a lemon then they will replace it per the back of their guarantee but hopefully they can resolve all of the issues today. I asked him what time will someone be here and he stated about 4pm...I told him that was awful and I am hot and frustrated with Frymire and would like a refund and that my txu bill is going through the roof due to my A/C having to work so hard...he stated if infact the bill is higher for the issue days then they will assist me with it. I told him that this should not be happening and if the problem is not resolved today and I am not compensated for my inconvenience, cleaning up after his crew and suffering that I would not EVER use Frymire again and definitely will not EVER recommend Fryimire to ANYONE..WOW! In the midst of completing this review Marcy from Frymire called and said that Chad will be here around 5-ish....this is the worst experience EVER!!!!!!!!! Frymire installed a tankless water heater last December and now it's leaking and shut off so we have no hot Water. They are in reachable. You can't leave a message. And their voice message says frymire is closed thank you for over 65 years of service. What is going on. Are they out of business? This repair should be covered under warranty. read more

These guys will send you a "free" Ac tune up / Water heater service letter in the mail. If you call them for service they don't actually service anything, they will simply tell you your equipment is too old to service and instead buy an entire new system. It's a classic bait and switch with high pressure sales pitch to buy new equipment. I've had them out to my home twice. Once to replace the anode rod in my water heater, after the guy spend 5 minutes with his handheld socket wrench, he couldn't remove the old one and said that the screw was stripped and insisted the entire unit would need to be replaced. When I had them out for an AC tune-up they didn't clean the heat pump and left the leaves that were at the base of the unit there; they commented that the unit's failure was imminent and instead of servicing the unit I should replace the whole thing. Would not recommend these guys to do any repairs or servicing since they apparently don't have any knowledge of what they are doing. read more

He said we needed a complete new unit that would be $13,000 and that our other unit was about to go out and we needed that one replaced as well, for an additional $13,000. He said the unit was so old that they don't make parts for it anymore so our only option was total replacement. We decided to get a second opinion. I would recommend passing on doing business with this company and going elsewhere. Frymire is not respectful in the least bit of its customers time. I had an appointment scheduled in the afternoon on Monday. This was an appointment I had booked two weeks prior. Late afternoon on Monday I called to confirm the appointment as I had not recieved any sort of confirmation after scheduling and we were waiting at home. Their company representative confirmed and said we would receive a call when a technician is on his or her way and that they work until the evening hours. We waited until 8pm with no word. I called again and the customer representative stated the technician allegedly called but there was no answer and there was no one home when he or she came by. However, we had someone home all day and available to answer the door at all times. In fact, my mom did not leave home all day waiting for the technician - a waste of her day off. I also recieved no missed calls despite the fact I called them hours prior. The customer service rep apologized, but couldn't reschedule to the next day despite it being their fault. I understand things happen and it's a busy time of the year so I accepted a reschedule to Saturday. Again, we waited home all afternoon. I called again to confirm and a Frymire rep. told me I'd recieve a call back. We recieved a call back to have the rep. cancel the appointment and offer to reschedule, again. Wasting another day we could have given our business elsewhere and two people's day off waiting for Frymire. To conclude, please consider another company to schedule your business with. Practices like this by Frymire will remain until it loses substantial business. Apologies don't mean much when you can't back it up with action. Frymire is a huge disappointment. read more

I had an underground leak near my water main due to a broken solder from the irrigation system. I called Frymire to take a look at it for a same-day repair. I asked for a ballpark estimate for this type of work and was told they could not give an estimate without looking at it. Of course there's a $89 fee just to show up. Worker comes by (nice guy), and I tell him exactly what the issue is. The spot to dig to find the leak is about 3'x2' wide and about 1'- 2' down. He goes to his truck to work up an estimate ... over $900! AND he says that he would have to come back the next day to fix the leak if indeed he found it. Digging out that area would take MAYBE 20 minutes and fixing the leak would take probably 2-3 hours. And $900+ dollars?! Needless to say I passed on the service but I still had to pay $89 to stand there, talk to the guy and look at the grass for 10-15 minutes. This "service fee" is the biggest scam going these days. Of course they wave it if you use their service, but $900+?! Come on!!!! They probably drive around all day giving high estimates and collecting the fees for doing nothing. I will find a plumber who does NOT charge just to show up in the future. Update: An hour and 25 minutes total time? I called around 9am. He showed up around 10:30am. I live in east Dallas. Someone would have to travel from beyond Frisco for it to take over an hour. He was at my house for 15 minutes. Not buying this excuse. Sorry. I think you could have given a ballpark estimate over the phone (because others wrote back with estimates) and your travel time estimate just doesn't add up. read more

A Frymire Services tech came to check out a hot water heater. He looked at it and said it needed to be replaced at an estimated cost of $1,300. Another plumbing company came later the same day, with me not telling him what Frymire had to say. The second tech said "I have good news" - a valve on top of the hot water heater needed to be tightened. For a standard service fee our hot water heater is working just fine! Have used this company a number of times over the last nine years for both HVAC and plumbing. Never again! I always thought their service was only average at best and always thought there charges were a bit on the high side. A recent failure with a water heater in my attic had them out to take a look and provide a quote on replacing both my tanks. Based on my taking a look at what replacement water heaters cost and allowing for what I figured would be a reasonable fee for install, I was guesstimating a total quote of around $3,000. I nearly fell over when Frymire quoted over $6,000 and when my service plan discount was applied, it was still going to be well over $5,000. I decided to get a few other quotes from local plumbing services. Their quotes ranged from $3,200 to $2,550 for the same work. Already had the work completed by local group. Frymire / Earthwise came to provide a "free" HVAC system inspection of our home's Carrier system. The technician found that the freon / coolant was almost empty, and called in a supervisor. Together they found that the compressor was running too hot and needed to be replaced. We were surprised and somewhat skeptical of their findings and recommendation. Based on their verbal estimate we requested a 2nd opinion from the company that installed and has maintained our system for years. They came out and found the freon / coolant levels to be appropriate and NO PROBLEMS with any part of the system. BEWARE! Free inspections from Frymire / Earthwise are not reliable and should not be trusted. read more

Update - here it is 11 mo later, and the upstairs unit is down at 10:00 at night. We find ourselves having no loyalty or even trust that they, if we call Frymire tomorrow, we'll be of any help? Or will we be charged again for something that has had issues far more that it shd? This just doesn't make sense for a Trane, but more importantly, where can we find a company to trust enough to use ongoing fir service? read more

I have used Frymire twice for plumbing services, and I have always been impressed with their customer service and their promptness. The techs have always been very helpful and informative. However, on the most recent visit to my condo, the plumber recommended tearing out my bathtub, toilet and possibly my vanity to find a blockage in my pipes. We had another plumber come out for a second opinion and within 15 minutes he had decided that he would be able to fix the problem with no demolition--and even better, that the blockage was outside of my condo and my HOA would cover the repair cost. I was still stuck paying Frymire $240 for the initial exploration of my pipes, but thankfully not the $1000s more I would have been stuck paying if I'd let them demolish my bathroom. read more

Kesha came to service our air conditioning unit because we had a capacitor out! At first I was surprised that there was a woman who is on staff as a technician-not sure why I felt that way!! However-we were sooo lucky to have had her!! She fixed the problem & even had the needed part in her truck! She diagnosed the problem & had everything done in about an hour!! I'm not sure anymore what name to use Frymire we had servicing our home for over 15 years. April 2017 Earthwise/Frymire came out and we needed a new HVAC (now I question that), They installed and we have had over 8 calls we made for service. Each time they located a problem. This winter we had cold air blowing on us and it took 2 trips for them to know that our back up heating was NEVER hooked up. Then with that we are suppose to have a service agreement as we had with Frymire to check/clean etc. twice a year. Each tech said that was correct the office hasn't a clue; and said not so. It's year waiting to see if we will get our unit serviced. Questioning if that is asking for trouble since know one seems to care. I asked for an extension since we hadn't received any maintenance this past year and received a post card in the mail for 50.00 off one of their services! Needless to say unsatisfied and sure not feeling comfortable about the workmanship. This is not the quality we had come to expect over the past 15 years. Left waiting and wondering if they will honor this service policy. Great to be nice to my face but follow up and feeling confident about the work means much more. Technicians are very nice however, the company, scheduling, and customer service is extremely poor! I would not recommend this company at all! They had to come out 3 times for the same issue, and every time, the time frames are off or their is some sort of miscommunication or confusion on their part! read more
