Oh why have I waited so long to drive right up the street from work and try this great little diner?! My co worker and I finally decided to get some to go last week and we are truly addicted! I had the HUGE double decked club with added cheese and a side of seasoned fries. Phew, this took 2 days to eat there was so much food! DELICIOUS! My co worker had the corned beef and swiss omelet with home fries and biscuits, and she said it tasted like a Reuben. She couldn't stop raving about it either! I am so happy that I live close enough to this restaurant so I can frequent it every weekend that I wake up with a hangover (which isn't too often). This "greasy spoon" offers a great breakfast or lunch with quick service. We've always had great service and my fiance and I always order stuff that isn't necessarily on the menu, but they always make for us anyways. (A goetta and cheese omelet and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich to be exact.) I've never tried anything off the dinner menu, but if you need a good diner-type meal, I would definitely go here. read more

It was a diner with a lot of faces that were familiar to the staff at the restaurant. The restaurant could be in any part of the country and it wouldn't seem out of place. The clientele was markedly older although my son, daughter, and brother in law helped drop down the average age a bit. The food was greasy although that should be expected from any diner type of restaurant. Pancakes were massive although had a rubberish type of consistency. The hash browns laden with butter or margarine were good but at the halfway point it began to turn me off. All portions are large and the prices are quite reasonable. It's a diner. It lacks the classic 50's feel with the exception of the counter stools and the order ticket wheel in the kitchen window but the food is fantastic. I've only ever been here for breakfast but the menu has all the diner classics, country fried steak, open faced turkey, burgers, double decker sandwiches, and Cincy mainstays like chill and goeta. If you're coming for breakfast don't pass up the corned beef and Swiss cheese omelet and add onions to your homefries. The service is great, the coffee is hot, and the food is greasy! read more

Exactly what I expected - great service, good food, cozy atmosphere. The Ft. Wright Family Restaurant serves up classic diner food and does it well. I came here for the first time for breakfast this weekend with my parents who were in town and we all left full and happy. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and my wife ordered the hotcakes. Biscuits and gravy were good (maybe could've used a third biscuit instead of two, but I was starving). Hotcakes were huge and delicious. Overall, the food was very good, and overall experience was great. We will be back :). read more

I have wanted to go here for years. This place is hidden back off of Dixie in a weird strip mall like place. Don't judge a book by its cover. Inside thus place is newly painted, has new tables & chairs, and new tile floors. But to be honest with you, the food is so good the environment doesn't matter. And for me personally, I don't mind it a dingy place as long as the food is good. It was just the hubby & I that morning. I'm a rare occasion we ordered the same thing, a breakfast sandwich. This is a biscuit or a muffin, with egg cheese and breakfast meat. It is only $2.50! If goetta offered then goetta is what I'm going to get. We also decided to split an order of the home fries, onions and jalapeños. Everything was absolutely delicious! The home fries were perfectly crisp. My only complaint with the sandwich is I wish the biscuit had been toasted. That is just a minor detail, it was still pretty delicious. This place was hopping. It was a Saturday morning. Actually it was more like Saturday mid day. The waitresses did an excellent job of being on top of things. They are also super friendly. Since we were actually there closer to lunchtime, we got to see some lunch orders brought out . The double-decker sandwiches are humongous! The burgers looked pretty tasty as well. I have been here twice now and I liked it both times. The first time the service was bad. I had a cheeseburger and fries and it was good. Nothing amazing, but good and pretty cheap. The second time I came for breakfast. It was on a Sunday and there were pretty many people there but the service was good. I liked the breakfast more than the lunch. It was pretty decently priced too. Also if you come for breakfast during the week, they have specials where the price is crazy cheap. I'll have to come back then and I may need to update my rating. read more

We used to go here 22 years ago for breakfast all the time. Then all the other chains popped up and we started going to those. Haven't lived in the area for many years, but visit every summer. Was not impressed and tired of the slow service at the chain restaurants. Went to yelp and found it was still there in the same store front. It was great! Simply good eats! Goetta! Simple prices. Great service! Coffee always full!! Happy! I'm sure my family will be frequenting this place from now on! read more

We live in Park Hills and I've read great reviews about this restaurant so decided to try it yesterday. We went around 10 AM as one of the reviews said to go before church lets out or it's a long wait. There were two tables available when we walked in and no one really paid attention to us but in all fairness, they were pretty busy. After a few minutes I grabbed a rag I saw on the counter and wiped off a table for us. A server came to our table within a few minutes. Prices were higher than what some of the yelp reviews stated but they weren't too unreasonable. $8.50 for an omelette. Breakfast for 2 was $20. Coffee is $2.10 a cup. After reading all the reviews about how great the food was-especially the hash browns, I was disappointed with how bland everything was. Even extra salt didn't do the trick. On a positive note, our server was very friendly but it took at least 30 min for our food When I went to pay, a girl asked me how it was and I said, it was just ok and she didn't say a word or ask why? My husband was not as disappointed as I was but I don't know we will go again. read more

This is a great little local restaurant. They serve breakfast all day and have goetta. The prices are very reasonable. I had the beef noodle soup and an egg salad sandwich. Both were excellent. My server advised that the chicken salad, tuna salad and egg salad are all made in house. It was very creamy and delicious. Service was excellent. I am so surprised that there are any positive comments on this restaurant. I ate lunch there today with 2 other adults, one in a wheelchair and we were ignored when we arrived. Eventually a waitress walking by said they would be clearing a table off for us. She pointed to a table that was occupied with a couple who weren't ready to leave. There were no empty tables on that side of the restaurant and the other side of the restaurant was darkened and empty. We waited. Then a group of 3 women came in and walked to the darkened area and asked if they could sit at one of the tables. The waitress replied, "We are going to have to open it up, so go ahead. It was closed..." Then a different waitress told us we could sit at another table in the just opened area. The food we ordered was barely passable. The omelette eggs weren't mixed well and was paper thin. The hash browns were tasteless. The pancakes were like rubber and the syrup was straight from the fridge. My wife and I went there a Saturday morning for breakfast. It wasn't a holiday weekend, just a normal day. There were four tables of people sitting there with no menus, water or silver ware. We seated ourselves and waited for about 10 minutes. No one even made eye contact with us. No greetings or "we'll be with you in a minute". We were totally ignored. We left and went 1/2 mile down the road to Big Boy on Kyles Lane, and got prompt and courteous service. It's always hard to rate diners. They have their place in this world, and it is a valuable place. Diners represent a place where you can have your coffee, know the servers by name, grab a sandwich or a meal in the evening. The workers appeared a little rough, although they worked at a neighborhood restaurant. Nice enough people, tasty food, though definitely not the highest quality. It's a great friendly place for breakfast on a Saturday Morning. The food is cheap and the portions are plentiful. I've woken up from a long night out with friends only to go to this place and feel world's better. I love the home fires with cheese they do the trick the quickest and there is enough to take home and enjoy later on that day which I often do. The biscuits and gravy are plain awesome. I was impressed by the size of my club sandwich. This is a great little spot and the staff was friendly. This seemed like a place with mostly regular patrons as the waitress seemed to know the others at the counter around me. The turkey club was a good deal at $8, it was extremely filling and came with chips. The bacon was great and the tomatoes were good. The turkey, though piled high, wasn't as great as I hoped. The chips were pretty standard wavy chips. I do plan to come back and get a double decker again, but maybe not turkey. The 3-way looked good, which another customer was eating. However the staff, while are generally very attentive and courtesy, they don't wash their hands after they go outside to smoke before they go back to handling your food. YUCK! Plethora of napkins. Two, to be exact. They unfold to about the size of a tablecloth, which is GREAT! I had one whole leftover emergency napkin at the conclusion of the meal. My only complaint is they were the smooth kind of napkin and my preference leans toward something a little more porous and absorbent texture. read more
