The first review of the new year goes out to Fu Belly! We stopped into Fu Belly to make our bellies fu(ll)! After some holiday shopping, we popped in for a lovely meal of egg rolls, spring rolls, garlic parmesan noodles with house chicken wings, the pho house special, and two Vietnamese coffees. Everything tasted so good! Perhaps I was just experiencing the bliss of eating after a long day of shopping but every bite was satisfying. If you know me, you know I love me some cheese and noodles. The Garlic Parmesan Noodles were amazing! I'm not sure I'd get it with house chicken wings again as the flavor was more on the mild side but it was enjoyable. We were also warned that the Vietnamese coffee would take a while to make as they make it per order. They ended up coming out towards the end of the meal which served as a nice sweet finisher. It was a great tasting coffee but weaker on the caffeine. All good. So yes! Fu Belly! 5-stars! Come here for some noodle-y eats! Are they the most authentic? Eh, you can decide for yourself. Pro-tip: The food is good, but you can get the same level of quality food at other places for a cheaper price. The hours are also terrible since they close at 8pm every day. Highlights: The papaya salad was the highlight for me since it was $8 and they were pretty generous with the shrimp. The flavor of the fish sauce wings and pho were good too. They offer a mixture of Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese dishes which is nice to accommodate a group of people. Lowlights: I was shocked by the final bill and really didn't think it was worth it - the pho prices are some of the highest I've seen for a very small bowl. Loved the food at Fu Belly, and I will definitely be back! Ambiance: A casual eatery, good for a meal with family or friends. It seems like the space can accommodate for groups well, too! Fish sauce wings (4/5): These lightly fried, above-average-sized wings came coated in a fish sauce glaze and on top of a leaf of lettuce. They did not shy away on the fish sauce for these, and I loved it! The sauce was so umami, and slightly sticky (but in a good way). I do think they could have added another dimension to the flavor - perhaps lemon? Or peanut crumbles? And since the wings were on the bigger end, I think a thicker sauce would have been nice to balance out the sauce-to-chicken ratio. Fu Belly Steak Fries (4.5/5): These (truffle?) fries were topped with slices of skirt steak and a creamy jalapeño cream sauce. The fries were crispy! The steak had a nice hint of lemongrass to it which definitely made it stand out relative to other steak-topped fries I've eaten in the past. Garlic Parmesan noodles with shaken beef tenderloin (5/5): this dish was the STAR for me! Especially the shaken beef. Every bite was tender, cooked to a nice medium. The marinade of the beef was SO tasty, too! It was sweet from the honey and savory from the soy sauce and oyster sauce. Literally mouthwatering. The bell peppers soaked up some of the marinade nicely too! The noodles also tasted great. Had a nice bite to them texture-wise, and the noodles were not oily, which is our preference. I'm so excited for this new family owned & operated Vietnamese restaurant right down the street from me. The place is very clean with neutral decorations, the staff is very friendly & welcoming, the food is savory & the broth on the pho was ON POINT! We ordered the spring rolls (yummy), brisket fried rice (so yummy) & special pho (very yummy). To top it off I ordered the Vietnamese coffee...had to have it! The brisket fried rice was different because it's not normally on Vietnamese menus but man it was really good! I recommend that people try it. I was pretty impressed that they have only been opened for a couple of weeks but I saw customers come in & brought friends to try out FU Belly. YOU MUST TRY THE GARLIC PARMESAN NOODLES! This is a family owned business, with our server being the son of the owner! He said I would love the jalapeño sauce that comes with the Garlic Parmesan Noodles, his dad's own recipe! It indeed was such a great meal! The shrimp was cooked amazingly. It was a good sized portion, large enough to fill me up without any leftovers. I'd definitely return for these noodles, this is a dish I will crave later! I found Fu Belly on Yelp after searching for a place that was close to Tempe/Chandler to eat. I had no idea they were new and only have been in business for a few weeks. The restaurant isn't huge but there was plenty of tables available for us to choose from. We were greeted within a few minutes of sitting down and were able to order right after. It took about 10~ minutes for our appetizers to come out and food came out directly afterwards. I absolutely loved the honey bbq wings. They were crunchy and the honey bbq flavor was very tasty. I also tried some of the fried pork dumplings. They had a nice crunch as well and I would definitely get them again. There were quite a few options for the chef's specials including spicy beef noodle soup, garlic noodles, and yellow curry. I decided to try the yellow curry with shrimp. I love that they actually have jumbo shrimp not the smaller ones. The curry was super flavorful and comes with a side of rice or noodles. The portion size is also quite big so you'll leave full or need to take some to go. They're still waiting on their liquor license so your only drink options outside of water/soft drinks are beer and white claws at the moment. This will definitely change in the future. read more

I feel like most Vietnamese restaurants there is a compromise in either the food or customer service and for this one both expectations are met. My friend and I were craving pho on a rainy day and decided to check this place out. It is a sit down restaurant that has service and it was quick. They also have TVs there to watch sports or anything they have on. I ordered the Chicken Pho and the veggies came on the side. This place is good. I didn't take any pictures because I feel like there's a ton already on here. The key to this place is their meat is mountains better than most pho places. I think maybe they grill their meat instead of steaming it in the pho. But it is so good. Reminds me of some of my favorite spots in LA. I also got the fried rice with shaken Beef. This place nails this dish. Usually it's chewy or dry. So tender. The flavor was great and the veggies are crispy. I love the fried rice here. Parking is easy too. I was so happy to find a vietnamese fusion restaurant near me, so I told my bf we had to stop by! We ordered the noodle bowl with grilled pork and the garlic parmesan noodles with grilled pork as well. Both were very good so we had to come back for more lol This time we added an order of truffle fries and vietnamese coffee. When we picked up our food they had forgotten the coffee but they made it very quick. I had to take a sip right away and it was so good, it has that "punch" that I like from vietnamese coffee haha My bf was so excited about the fries but was a bit disappointed because they didn't have much flavor. Let me start by saying that I'm definitely coming back for lunch as I saw plenty of good options on the menu... for this trip, I don't think we picked everything correctly hence the 3-star review. The Entree selection throws you off a bit as far as the mix & match so I think that was it for us. They have QR Codes for the menu so I felt I may have been missing something when looking at my phone trying to pick out things. We were eager for the garlic noodles so we did the entree and added chicken with it. The Korean Ribs on the chalkboard menu drew us in so we had that as an entree and realized that it came with either rice, fried rice, noodle bowl, and something else. We went with the Noodle Bowl... should have done with the fried rice!!! The veggies for the noodle bowl were a nice refreshing treat, but they didn't compliment the ribs (a bit dry & needed some liquid juice). Also had the spring rolls, served with a peanut sauce. While feeling a bit hungry, decided to add the sweet chili wings at the end. The garlic parm noodles and chicken wings,... highly recommend. If your gonna do the ribs, add it to an existing entree u order. The fried roll that came with the Noodle dish was also great so I'll have to do those next time. My husband and I were passing thru AZ on our way to Cali and were craving Vietnamese food. We are so happy that we stopped by Fu Belly! Excellent customer service variety of entrees to choose from, and the food - super delicious! We ordered to go and the meals were packaged neatly, one of the entrees we had was the Brisket Pho: noodles and fixings were in it's own container so you can control the amount of bell sprouts, onions, etc you wanted in the soup. The broth for the pho is yummy! Exceeded my expectations, especially coming from Texas it's always a challenge to find a good Vietnamese restaurant. We also ordered the beef fried rice and sweet chilli wings. I'm surprised this place doesn't have a lot of ratings. But it is a mist to stop by here. We've been to Fu Belly three times now once it's opened and it's definitely my favorite new restaurant! Plenty of incredible vegetarian options, to-die-for noodles, and awesome pho! The rice bowls come with a delicious spring roll, and plenty of fresh veggies. I seriously cannot emphasize enough how good everything is. The Vietnamese coffee is also very good, and everything has a great portion size. 10/10 would recommend--please give Fu Belly a try, because I think I might cry if it ever closes. read more
