Have fallen off the mark since their beginning. We (locals) are still happy to have them but wow, they could do better and they HAVE! At first: We were welcomed to have our group sit in the Teppan area and (some of us could) order sushi if we liked. New rule: If your family/group is 4 and 2 of you want sushi, then you are told that, "only 1 of you can order sushi in this area". Great! So now our husbands are going to have the teppan dinner but WE have to go over to the "sushi" area to eat (and my daughter is disabled AND it's HER birthday)! Thank you for this birthday dinner! Absolute BS rule. Their Wasabi is SUPER weak so order 2, 3 or 4 servings if you want any heat at all! Subtle flavor but especially no heat found here! I suppose that they think we can't handle real wasabi here in north Idaho. News flash, that's exactly why some of us come here. If necessary, offer "hot or mild". The Sushi Chef's do the best they can with what they have but I'll bet anything that they would LOVE to show us what they can really do. They do a really good job but I'd LOVE to see their real talent. I would love for Fuki Steak House to be more authentic. Too many Sushi Rolls contain cream cheese... yeah. Let me linger on that for a minute. I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong but I just don't believe that the ancients used cream cheese and mayonnaise. Whatever. I would LOVE to have the opportunity to have more authentic sushi, wasabi AND a little more flexibility in seating at Fuki Steak house. Like I said, good but could do a LOT better! read more

Food is generic like any other place that serves food like this. I personally think the place is overpriced, the best part is the entertainment if you so choose to have some that cooks your food, hopefully you have someone with a personality, if not same old routine. read more

If I could give it six stars I would. I absolutely love this place. The sushi is the best. I have tried different kinds and I absolutely love each one I have tasted. I also like the calamari too. Coming from the Seattle area I was desperately looking for a place for my family to enjoy Sushi. Fu-Ki was the first one I found and it didn't disappoint. The food was great and the service was excellent. Lily, who I believe is the owner, was working her way around each table. Maybe I came on a special day, or it's just what she does. Regardless, I thought it was impressive. My kids ate all of their food. We ordered all sushi, so I cannot comment on the other items. We had to wait for a little bit, but nothing that I wasn't already used to. We've been back three times now. I will still be trying other places, but Fu-Ki is on my "go-to" list. read more

Our experience was less than satisfying! The older woman who served us was rude, we had a table of four who we asked for things to be separate... she rang it in all together so our food came out with the other couples on there plate!!! The food was great however the service didn't match. The woman was talking badly about us as we were leaving.... when all mistakes were on her as she wasn't on top of her job. Absolutely the worse place!!! My family and I love Tepan places and go even on vacation. This place was not about their customers at all. We ordered a Cali roll and mix tempura to start, when we received the Cali roll the waitress said that the mixed tempura would be delayed we said that was ok. 15min later We then had our chef come cook and serve almost ALL of our dinner (entree) when the waitress gave us our mixed tempura we told them we didn't want to pay for something that came out 45min later that was suppose to be an appetizer and they said that we agreed to it. When a customer orders an appetizer, it should come BEFORE the entree. We then asked to speak with a manager and got a server (Oai) because the " manager " was home. We explained the situation and she argued with us that we agreed to the appetizer being served after our entree, we said we did not and she continued to argue with us. I can't believe they argued about $8.99 mixed tempura. We saw our server once and had to ask other employees to help us. Once our serve came back we got 4 boxes for the 2 of us when we asked for 1 and 3 of the sauces, she gave us 1 container for the sauces. We have been here a couple times and both times had Kyle as our chef. He is excellent! He is friendly, entertaining and enthusiastic. And the food is awesome! The only reason I'm not leaving 5 stars is because the hostess/ waitress was horrible. We get when a business is low on staff for the night and drinks/ food are slow or forgotten. However, from the phone call made to reserve, to our greeting on arrival and all the table service after...her attitude was terrible. She was surly and abrupt, not a single smile all evening. We tipped our chef separately because he was excellent but we really hope we do not have to deal with the same waitress next time we visit. read more

Got sat very quick. 3 people in our party. We ordered the calamari tempura appetizer. It tasted like grease soaked mushy fish stick bites. 1 person ordered the New York steak and shrimp. 1 ordered filet mignon and shrimp. And the last ordered the New York steak and chicken. We all had fried rice. The chef we had was very messy. I was sat directly in front of him and he flung rice and oil on my plate several times. The food was very mediocre. The onion soup tasted like beef broth with soy sauce. The salad had decent taste but the dressing looked like watered down pepto bismol. The rice lacked in flavor and werent all cooked thoroughly. The meat was tender but not were completely overcooked and tasted like nothing but butter. The shrimp were overcooked and chewy. The vegetables were the last thing he prepared and they were so not uniformly sliced that either it was way undercooked or way overcooked. The 2 sauces they provide you in the beginning are the most unappealing things I've ever tasted. The service isn't much better. It took almost the whole meal to get a refill and when she did, she brought me back something that wasn't mine. The restaurant as a whole appears very dingy and sad. It smelled like a cross between nasty fish and air freshener. At the end they charged the 15% or so gratuity. When I confronted them about it, they said they charge that to parties of 6 or more. Apparently they assume everyone at the table were together. They lady was nice and took care of the issue. I was in no way okay paying that price for a tip, let alone the amount the food came to. Went here for lunch. Ordered dishes off the menu, sushi rolls & sashimi. Everything was just okay, nothing outstanding. Towards the end of our meal, we noticed a thick black hair sticking out, from the inside, of one of the sushi rolls. I informed the waitress & pointed it out to show her. She immediately dismissed it and said "I think the wind just blew it,"....meaning, there was hair flying around & it happened to just land inside of our sushi roll??? Are you F*ing serious???!!! She did not even acknowledge the hair or even attempt to pretend to offer an apology. That was simply all we wanted. I would suggest that maybe the sushi chefs wear hair nets. Went to Fu-Ki for sushi our first night in Post Falls, was NOT impressed. They weren't busy, and had to "clear" a table for the two of us (although there were many empty tables), that said we were seated near the kitchen & our table was sticky. Service was quick, and our food came almost as quickly. Unfortunately the sushi was underwhelming, the spicy tuna roll was so salty it was inedible and the California roll was bland (wasabi / soyo helped). Horrible experience. My friend made a reservation a week in advance for her own birthday. 13 people @ 6:30. We all arrive and the staff seems to know nothing about the reservation nor do they seem equipped to handle us. We (all 13) got shoved into half a table. This place has really good sushi... It pretty much melted in my mouth. It's where I'd frequent if I lived in post falls. The service was weird though. We came in about 2:30 and were made to feel like jerks for it the whole time because I guess they close at 3. And they turned some other people away that came later then us. The server refused to take it off the bill because she said I agreed to it coming out late. I asked to speak to a manager and she took my card and charged me BEFORE anyone came to speak to me. Very overpriced plus I have allergies to shrimp that was going to be on the stove-top From a couple of the orders in our dinner party and I told the cook in front of us that it couldn't get over on my food or the oils from it to run into my food, and He acted like he totally understood that he was to keep the other types of food away from mine as he was cooking. He never said to tell the server he just nodded his head and said OK. They proceeded to make things in front of us that had those ingredients that ran over into my food and It turned out that they had no clue what I was talking about so they had to get the manager to understand what an allergy was....really? The Teppan side of the restaurant is good and compares well with the Teppan restaurant options we have in Spokane, WA. However, their sushi side is just "okay". The crab is imitation crab and is premixed with mayo so the flavor is very bland. The spicy tuna has good flavor, but comes from frozen portions. The sushi chefs hardly acknowledge you when you sit at the sushi bar, which is disappointing. The fried shrimp comes out very very crunchy, which is unlike that of a tempura base which we are used to. I come back for those days that I am craving sushi during a lunch break from work, but otherwise I do not go to the restaurant as a dinner visit. There are so many better sushi options in the Coeur d'Alene and Spokane area. read more

However because the wait staff, or management is lackluster with informing possible patrons, on cooking conditions, wait times, or short staff my group was left in the dark. This store is a hidden sushi gem of Post Falls and quit telling everyone or it will be too popular to access on short notice. We've tried the standard teppan-style exhibition dinner with fine results, but my true appreciation is for the diverse fresh sushi menu that is reasonably priced and TASTY. Haven't been too excited about a lot of new japanese restaurants lately, but this is the real deal. The sushi was ultra fresh. Ordered yellowtail belly and watched the sushi chefs filleting the fish right there! Portion sizes more than generous and so fresh. Rolls done well at the right temperature! The sashimi and rolls, which were made fresh were amazing and we have eaten a lot of sushi. Were watching the Teppan area and was full and people seemed to be having an awesome time. If you want lousy service, so-so food and a wait staff that couldn't care less, then you'll love this place. This was our 3rd and and last time there and this has happened ever since they opened up. #1. If you think this is some sort of Benihana upscale restaurant, forget it. We (7 people) made our reservation for 6pm. We called and confirmed at 5pm. We showed up at 6 and were seated. We immediately noticed it was hot and no ventilation going on. This was in July and the hottest day of the year. We then ordered a round of drinks and some sushi as an appetizer. I asked if we were going to get our sushi appetizer BEFORE our meal was cooked and the waitress replied: "No guarantees!!" Typically when you order an appetizer it arrives BEFORE your meal. Moving on....... It was increasingly hot in the restaurant and I asked if they could turn the ac up and then they told me "sorry, the air conditioning is broken until Monday"...4 days away. It was really hot in that restaurant and the only fan going was pointed at the kitchen. We asked the waitress to get that fan and bring it to us and guess what?? She says "sorry, it's for the kitchen staff", Ugh. We just paid up and left. 1They only have 1 sushi guy on duty, no matter how busy it gets. So, if you and your date go on a crowded evening, you're gonna wait and wait. 2 The entire place is run by inexperienced high schoolers, that haven't been trained by the owner. Don't even try to order something fancy from the sushi bar, the wait staff can't even spell it and the sushi chef is unable to make it. 3. They are extremely slow to bring your drinks, appetizers and meals. 4. Check your meal when the chef shows up, they have a habit of messing up the order. Fu-ki could be a great place if they took the time to improve, but they don't care. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

This place is terrible! Most Food was ok but sushi is expensive and ok doesn't cut it. They burnt our lobster roll!! Our waiter ( not his fault ) was very nice about it and took it to head chef/ owner to get replaced which he refused and said that's the way they are made! It was so burnt it stuck to foil! My husband and I went spur of the moment for dinner. I read reviews which stated some had to wait forever before they were serviced. First,there are two sections, one for ordering off the menu for sushi or other stuff off the menu. The wait is for the hibachi cooking. We went for an early dinner this past Saturday not really knowing what to expect. We were seated and attended to right away. Drinks arrived quickly. Our server was VERY patient with us as we threw some curve balls at her (all veggies to my husband except mushrooms which came to me, etc...). We ordered Shrimp Tempura for an appetizer - light and flakey and the sauce was great. I had the Chicken/Scallops combo, my husband had Scallops only, and our son had Chicken Teriyaki only. Thumbs up all around, though my husband commented later that the scallops were a little over cooked - hence the 4 stars (wish I could give 4.5) To me they were perfect. A little pricey but worth it for the entertainment factor. My 10 year old didn't ask to play games in my phone during dinner - that says a LOT! Will definitely be back read more
