Very disappointed again. We haven't eaten here for years because it had gotten so bad. Our neighbors said it improved and was remodeled. Well, it's been remodeled but in my opinion, the food was terrible still. Service was ok. Hubby liked his ground beef tacos but my tamale was rock hard (seemed to be cooked, then frozen, then reheated) the chicken flautas were dry, but the rice, beans, chips & salsa were terrific! A group of 10 of us had dinner tonight at this restaurant. The service was good but that was the only highlight of the meal. Several of us ordered the Super Burrito and we were all disappointed. The taste of the burrito was phenomenal, however, the burrito was lukewarm warm at best. Although I very seldom send food back to the kitchen, I did so on this occasion, asking for the burrito to be warmed up. The waitress returned with the burrito a few minutes later and, unfortunately, the meal was no warmer than before. My dining companions and I decided it wasn't worth the effort to ask that the waitress to have the burrito's warmed up. Needless to say, the dining experience was less than spectacular. The food was amazing. Friendly service. It is pricey.... but decent portions with great flavor. It actually shocked me to see the yelp rating. We ordered table side guac, asada, birria ramen and tacos trio with 3 different meats. Meats were all flavorful. Which many times you get lame shredded stewed chicken, but this was not- this was ground or finely chopped chicken with tons of flavor. Would totally go back. Just made it 4 stars cuz it is a little on what I would call pricier side, and I'm not super positive you get something more for the price. read more

Friends have been visiting and Acapulco has always been a good place to go and talk and eat cheap. We have visited 3 times in 2 weeks. Our last visit was May 25th. I always order a Corona Lite. The server ALWAYS asks Draft or Bottle. Katherine O did not ask and brought me $5.25 bottle of Corona Lite. Others did the same. We kept the bottle never thinking it was the price of a 6 PACK! Food was just so so. Terrible experience. Service was awful. I guess that's the end, regardless of the prices. read more

The service was good and the beer was cold. The chips for salsa were cold, the fajitas had no bell pepper and the chicken and "steak" were way over cooked. The "steak" for them and on our other dish was so tough we had to chop it into little pieces to chew it. We used to go there regularly then it started to decline. Delicious! The first test is finding the entrance. I'm not giving it away ... Get the table side guacamole with all the things. It is creamy and fresh and hits every tastebud. The chips are super crispy and the house made salsa is incredible. Get extra and put it in everything. As far as the menu is concerned - just close your eyes and point. You will pick a winner. We all got multiple different things and simply put it in the middle and ate family style. The service was lovely - made great suggestions - fast and accurate. If you are getting cocktail might I suggest the watermelon margarita. ‍ Delectable. Can't wait to go back! If it's a bit far - make the trip. Completely worth it. read more

Well, we haven't gone there in many years because of how it was in the past. We ran into people that said it was really good now and they love the burrito Wednesday. Well, we tried it. NOT GOOD. First, the burrito's were just warm at best. They place them on a hot plate. SCARY!!! Second. the "bartender" was terrible. In the 45 +/- minutes that we were there, she never changed her rubber gloves at all. We don't know how long they were on before we got there or how long after. She was touching EVERYTHING. That includes her hair, coughing on them, touching the inside of the glasses, ice, register, pens, dirty bar rags, the drawers, garbage can, boxes of wine, bottles, etc... It was unbelievable when she rinsed the the gloves ( no soap) and used a paper towel to dry them. I was hoping to talk to the manager but he was in the office on the computer and never came over. NO WONDER IT'S EMPTY. I can't give them a ZERO but 1 is the minimum. The duct tape on the bar should have been my first clue. NEVER AGAIN read more

Food is great! Never had a bad meal. Margaritas were also very good. Service is always fast and usually friendly. Only complaints would be when there is live music, which is always very good, if you are sitting in that part of the dining room, it's very loud. We always ask to sit in the back and can still hear the music. Other suggestion would be some updating. Some of the tables wobble and when you first walk in, the place has an old feel but then you realize it's part of the ambiance. To management, don't put your dirty rags for cleaning the tables on the first table you see when entering the dining room. That should be hidden from the public. Love the place otherwise. read more

Food, service & ambiance were OUTSTANDING!!!! My only complaint......they started MOPPING with a smelly detergent that detracted from the aroma of the delicious food!!!! AND, the mopping is telling us.....get out, we wanna go home!!!! If you're open till 9:00, please don't start mopping at 7:45. Then, as we were leaving, they warned me & my sister, who is 87 and uses a cane, to be careful, because the floor is wet!!!! Salsa and chips on the table as soon as we sat. Great waitress (Elaine) took great care of us and answered all our questions. Quiet for a Saturday afternoon and possible low staff but great food. I enjoyed sitting at the bar and eating Pico, Green Salsa (hot), Queso, and ground beef on the side. I scooped beef, salsa and queso on a tortilla chip and enjoyed the heck out of it. We also tried a Corona Familiar and Tres Generationes Tequila for the first time. Great recommendation by Elaine! Would love to see a military discount in the future. Fun Place! read more

We went to Acapulco last night for Taco Tuesday, and we were not impressed. My in-laws have been coming to Acapulco for years, but this may have been the last time. The service was not great, we had to ask for waters 3 times and finally got someone who was not our server to bring us water. We had beef tacos and the beef was cold, the queso was barely warm as well. We ordered a side of rice and beans, and were shocked when we got the check and saw they $3.40 each for a total of $7 for a side of beans and rice that came out cold. To top it all off, when we got our check we handed our server our card and noticed we got a 3% credit card fee on top of the already inflated prices. There was no notice of an additional fee for credit cards. Needless to say, Acapulco is off of our list of regular restaurants. read more

Pretty good first visit. We were hesitant to come - reviews are sort of brutal. There's a nice little fountain outside and some tables. The inside is cool.... Well the staff is nice and the place was busy. The service was prompt and that is all I can say was good other than the table side guacamole which was the best part of my meal. The chips and salsa were just okay but tasted as if they were cooked up in old oil and the El Volcano came out looking great but the small poultry in it was full of bones and wasn't that tasty, the shrimp still had the tails on them which was a pain in the butt. First time to this restaurant. Seated right away im glad I looked at online menu as the mood lights were low and the menu was large and my age made it seem like it was dark. So they had combo plates so i was able to try to items. My wife loved the green stuff and ate it of my plate . I loved the refied beans and my son loved the rice.large menu of drinks to choose from.waitress was great checking on us over 8 times. No rush to get us out either. We arrived at 6 pm. So disappointing. Have given the restaurant many chances. The last time I was there they were out of corn tortillas! I was looking forward to tacos on soft corn tortillas, a staple of any decent Mexican restaurant. Why didn't they walk over to Publix and buy some? This is a crowded resturant, when we were there and I would venture to say every evening based on the specials they have several nights of the week. We went with 4 other folks and were lucky to snag a table outside. I say lucky because it is really noisy inside but it was pretty noisy outside as well. Parking was a nightmare, walking not an issue for use but we had to park a pretty good distance in the adjoining Publix lot. Walking through the lots to get to the resturant was treacherous, well maybe not that bad but yiu need to be really cautious. We all ordered the beef tacos which were on special for $1.25 each. My husband and I ordered a side of refried bean, each order was $2.70, which was a ridiculous price for a small side of beans, but with a beer for my hubby dinner only cost us $15 with tip. Beer prices were cheap as well. Good service, the chips were OK but salsa was very good and tacos were just OK. Can't attest to the food on the regular menu but I would not go back for the cheap taco Tuesday special. read more

Their beans are almost room temperature and apparently a breeding ground for bacteria! After eating lunch there on Monday, by the time I sat in my car, I threw up all of my lunch, and threw up about 3 more times getting home! Then came 3 days of diarrhea!!! From this horrible experience, I would surmise that there is a lack of oversight in the kitchen's food handling which can make many sick , since the refried beans are included with almost all meals. Just went there for Cinco de Mayo. OMG, what a blast. Got there at 4:00p, w/o reservations and had a mere 15 min. wait. Despite the limited menu for the day, it was happy hour, and we all found a dish to enjoy. The singer was fabulous, and despite the crowd, our server was very attentive. The great t-shirts were FREE! We are regulars at this establishment for taco Tuesday and Burrito Wed., but will definitely be back for Cinco again. Kudos to all the staff, from the hostess to the chefs. A spectacular evening. I definitely recommend getting their early for May 5th, as I'm confident the wait at 6p was over an hour. Went in with a group of 4 and ordered an entree, the bistek authentic platter which was decent, I ordered the house Marg and was brought out that & a shot, I tried to express I was not interested in having a shot and was told it was happy hour, shortly after another shot came for me which I then assumed it was a bogo shot deal and I've now been suckered into paying for it since I already consumed the first one. When the bill came I was charged $11 for the shots I didn't want. I handed the server $22 I had floating in my wallet along with my card for the remaining balance. This restaurant doesn't stand out from the street and is in the Publix shopping center on HWY 64 and Lakewood Ranch Blvd in Bradenton. There's ample parking, which is always appreciated. What surprised me immediately when I arrived on a Thursday evening was there was about a 20 minute wait time for a table, and there are many tables in the restaurant. I took this as a sign the food would be good! My family and I got seated and enjoyed the chips and salsa. I ordered the chicken and steak fajitas, and they did not disappoint! The tortillas appear to be made either in house or other than mass produced, which is always good. As with most fajita meals, there was plenty to take home for another meal the next day. The hostess and wait staff were all incredibly friendly. They appeared to enjoy being at their jobs and thus translated into excellent service. My entire family was impressed with the food and the service and we will definitely return. read more
