It's nice to have a Japanese restaurant in the city, at least for international tourists who prefer some closer-to-home-made food. We had a feast. We started with miso soup and seafood soup (on the salty side, abundant seafood, lots of shrimp and small scallops). We shared edamame, seaweed salad and baked mussels. To us, they certainly taste closer to home than bison steak or elk burger. The unagi don has a nice fried egg along with pieces of eels. This dish is probably sweeter than I thought. Seafood deluxe has a good portion of medium shrimps and a few medium size scallops, featuring a lobster tail. The size of these dishes are definitely worth the money but the taste is just so so as all dishes use sauces from a supermarket shelf rather than home made. It would be a 2 star in food by New York City standard (where I came from), but I'm happy to give it a 3-star in food given its location. I bump the overall star rating to a FOUR because of the excellent service they offer! Everyone is super nice and makes us feel like home. read more

I honestly have drove past this place for four years and never given it any thought. After many friends suggested it, we decided to give it a try and I'm so glad we did. By far the best sushi in Davis county!! I grew up near San Francisco and like to think that I have an appreciation for fresh fish and real sushi (no cream cheese please!) since I grew up in a home where my Saipanese dad had to check the sushi bar for fish quality before sitting down . We ordered the sunset, playboy, and angel roll and all were very pleasant. I like how the rolls were large and had plenty of fresh fish in them. We were having to drive downtown to Takashi or Ogden to Tona both 20+ minutes away. We will now be making Fuji our local stop!! Rolls are priced accordingly for what you get. We took out sushi from this place. All of the sushi rolls except for one was good. I think it was the Long John roll that has a piece of seared albacore on top which was very dry. While this place is a bit of a pain to find, it's worth the chore. If you can stay out of view of the extremely odd and out of place cabinetry in the front by the door, then the ambiance is very nice, particularly in the enclosed booths. It's a pretty cool place to chill and hang out and the green tea was excellent enough to allow that, which I find more and more lately, is a major, major component of that...at least in Asian places. The calamari was a miss, as were the sauces for it. You can safely skip those and not miss anything. Very pedestrian and I'm willing to hazard a bet came fresh from frozen. The sushi was considerably better, nearly universally well constructed and executed, to the point where several needed little, if any, accompaniment. It's very nice to find places like that, where the sushi can breathe and the ingredients can mesh and marry in a happy harmony, unlike the places that nearly require a dose of soy sauce and/or ginger on top to continue on with. Frankly, it was surprising to find a place of this caliber in Centerville. While not competition for the heavy hitters of Salt Lake or Tona in Ogden, it definitely supercedes everything south of the Tsunami before the Point. With some very solid interior guidance and possibly some menu tweaks, this easily could be competition for those places I mentioned and is definitely the best bet between downtown and Ogden...service was pretty good overall as well. First off, I've eaten here 20 or so times since it opened. I have always found their fish fresh and flavors good. On occasion the service has been slow, but for the most part it's been ok. Its a solid 4 stars for the food. The downside; the owners. Some of the most irritating and intrusive people I have ever met. The mr. - Pompous and right about everything., which is ok if you don't make eye contact, which seems to be an invitation to come over and spew nonsense whilst attempting to dine in peace. The mrs. - Intrusive, loud and completely unconscious of her unwanted presence and unsolicited solicitations. Stay in the back, let your staff, which is spotty, handle your patrons. I'd eat here 500% more often if I didn't have the promise of forced idiosyncrasies knocking on my window the whole time I am attempting to enjoy a meal. After all, I invited the people I walked in the door with to lunch, not you. Btw, the baked mussels we had today had broken shells in them, rendering them in edible, but we chose not to say anything, because that would warrant interaction with aforementioned mr. and mrs. Also, change your fryer oil. Our roll with tempura tasted like a corn dog that was fried on the last day of a week long carnival. Which would be fine if I was actually eating a corn dog. This no workee for a sushi joint and the associated prices. Sucking it up and paying for them is a less painful scenario. read more

What a cute place. I'm really glad to have come here with my old college pal who lives around here. A little about me because this is important to the review (everyone is biased through their background, right?): I'm a southern Californian who is a self-proclaimed foodie. I refuse to eat bad food. I'd rather starve. You need to recognize a few things about this place: it's in a really odd city and it's in a land lock state. Centerville is a small town SURROUNDED by big city feel of Salt Lake City. Really odd combination. It's a sparsely populated town but it's got a TON of places to eat. Tough competition, for sure. What I liked about this place: 1. Super easy to find. 2. Love love love the adorable, very private booths. 3. The fish for sure was very fresh. What I HATED about this place: 1. Wow, could you put MORE rice on the nigari pieces?!?! I really resent it when they PACK on the rice and then tell you they'll charge you more for not eating the rice. Well, maybe you should consider not putting on so much of it and give me a thicker slice of fish then!!! 2. At lunch, you can only order so many different kinds of rolls. I get it. The ones reserved for dinners are pricier to make. So make them smaller. Don't take it off your menu. That's a super downer. My recommendations: A. I can see this place getting crowded on the weekends. So if you're coming then, make sure you get a reservation in or just go at an odd hour. B. Stick with the rolls if you're doing all you can eat. Miso soup was NOT included for the all-you-can eat deal (what's up with THAT??? it's freaking miso soup). If you want to be carb friendly, DO NOT get the all you can eat deal. read more

This is our go-to place for sushi. It's usually quick and the food is consistent. My husband and I only started eating sushi about a year ago when I was pregnant and craved sushi constantly. Neither of us were fish eaters so we started off eating vegetarian rolls. While browsing the menu we saw the Cowboy roll that had steak and crab. We ate that for about 6 months before being brave enough to try other fish (we also had to wait until I wasn't pregnant to try raw fish.) We still prefer tempura fried rolls and their Vegas always satisfies. When we go with a group that is more adventurous than we are, I try most rolls and I can't say that there is one I don't like. We have only had one or two busy Friday nights when we had to wait for our food. Their staff changes frequently but we've always been pleased. Their presentations are nothing like Sushi Monster but I prefer simple. Their rolls are easy to eat, which is more than I can say for the other place... read more

I can't say enough good things about this little Gem. It's always a pleasure coming here, the service has been great. The hostess has always been prompt to greet and seat me as soon as I walk in the door. The Chefs always serve up the finest cuts of fish and the servings have always been generous. I love that this place is always clean, quiet and the booths offer just enough privacy to enjoy your meal and conversation, but not so much that you feel alienated from the restaurant. I wanted to try a new place and chose Fuji Sushi. My wife was out of town and she doesn't like sushi so this was a chance for my son and me to go Japanese! This was our first time there. We were ambitious and tried 4 rolls. They were all good but here they are in the order we liked with the best first. Black Angel, Bonsai, Samurai, Crazy Tuna. The Black Angel has shrimp tempura, mango, avocado, topped with spicy crab. Great combination. Loved it! The Bonsai has spicy yellowtail, avocado, jalapeño, wasabi tobiko and sriacha sauce. It wasn't too spicy. Just right. The Samurai had shrimp tempura with salmon on top. Service was great - the rolls came out fast. We were there early in the evening so it wasn't crowded. I can't say enough good things about Fuji Sushi, but I will try. The Sushi is fantastic. Start with the Miso soup. Then get the Mermaid Roll to wet your appetite. Its wrapped in cucumber and is topped with sweet vinegar. Then get an order of Nigiri Sushi (I like the tuna) definitely use wasabi and soy sauce for this one. A must try is the Sunset Roll- it's topped with thin lemon slices - my favorite! I recommend trying it with Ponzu sauce. Rebecca and Michele treat us like part of the family. They have huge hearts and are extremely intelligent. They always remember to bring me Ponzu sauce- I don't even have to ask. On two occasions, I came in with a cold and feeling crummy and they took care of me this special ginger tea. The restaurant is always clean and the food is delicious. If you have ever had Yakisoba then you know one of the best parts is the yummy thick noodles.... Well if you come here your going to get Roman noodles instead. When the waitress came and brought me my food I was like what the heck... The flavor was eh... nothing that great. Definitaly not the best Yakisoba I have had.. The owners were not very friendly... that kinda sucked, our waitress was nice you could tell that she was really stressed however and there were like two people eating besides us there.. weird.. I did notice we both started to get a headache before we even left and the next day both felt really sick and had massive headaches. I'm not trying to say that something was rotten or not cooked I'm just saying that our bodies didn't take it too good to what we ate there. One of the better places in Centerville. Their sushi selection is large. They will make a roll the way you want it if you don't want it the way it's described on the menu. I love the Sunset roll but don't care for tuna so they swapped it with shrimp, it was so good! They keep your drinks refilled. The servers are very conscientious about their customers and you never have to search for them or wait long. The teriyaki chicken dish comes with two full chicken breasts, very good portion size. They get crowded for sure but handle it well. They could teach some things to the other places in the area that are run by bratty children. Very happy when we go there! read more

I had some very high expectations after reading reviews of this place. I ordered a take-out meal of things that sounded delicious off the menu. Everyone at the restaurant was super friendly and nice which set my expectation even higher for the food. Once home from getting my take out my wife and I started to open the containers food and what we saw was sadly disappointing. We felt as if our food was just thrown in a container smashed in a bag and handed to me with no care. Still hopes were high because I could smell the tasty aroma of "fresh" sushi. But because of the poor handling of transferring my food into the containers all my rolls had rolled around and mixed with each other because to big of containers were used for the size of the rolls. And After consuming and tasting each roll I was highly disappointed because the smell didn't reflect the flavor I was consuming. The fish didn't seem fresh and also I expect When I order raw sushi it should be cold not lukewarm especially the fish. All around I wasn't very satisfied with my whole meal that might I add wasn't cheap. I don't know if I was just one of the unlucky on a bad night but I don't know if I will be going back anytime soon. read more
