Came to Kizame Sushi for a birthday lunch and had a great experience overall. It's an…read moreall-you-can-eat spot that's a little pricier than some of the other AYCE options in the area, but the quality is noticeably better. They offer both a regular and premium menu, and I'd definitely recommend going premium; the additional options are worth it. If you love yuzu and garlic oil, don't even read the rest of this--just drive on over. Their lunch special runs until 3 PM on weekdays, and the lunch menu is the same as dinner, which is a nice bonus. The restaurant has a modern look with wooden paneling and strip lighting, making it feel like a great date-night spot. There is ample parking as it's situated in a larger shopping plaza. Another thing I really liked is that sushi items come one piece at a time, while rolls come as four pieces, so you can try a much wider variety without getting overly full on one item. It's perfect for an AYCE menu where you want to sample as much as possible. We ordered from the premium menu and everything we tried was chef's kiss. They did seem to be having a bit of an off day with the service. Some of our food was delayed, and orders placed well after ours were coming out before ours. Our server did apologize and mention they were having some issues in the back but everything eventually came out, and it was very good. My favorites were the Ama Ebi (sweet shrimp), the Japanese scallop (which practically melts in your mouth) and the Yellowtail Cilantro Roll. Overall, if you're willing to spend a little more for better-quality AYCE sushi, Kizame is definitely your new spot.

I ordered tamago sushi for my toddler, and it was clearly spoiled. It's likely about 3 days old based on how far off it had gone. Not what you expect to be served, especially for a young child. Then, despite sitting down at 7:30pm, we were asked to leave at 8:30pm while my girls were still eating their ice cream, because the restaurant had other guests waiting (Wasn't the time limit two hours, not one?!). I tried to make the best of it and had my girls carry their ice cream out with them, but in the rush, my toddler dropped hers and burst into tears. It's disappointing to see a place we've loved start cutting corners on food quality and rushing loyal customers out the door. What happened, Kizame?

The staff was friendly, welcoming, and provided great service. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the quality really stood out. At first glance, it's pretty small in there, but I never felt uncomfortable. They were playing some cool lo-fi beats that weren't too loud -- no one was screaming at each other over the music. The guy taking my order was super cool and attentive; he kept checking in and was on top of the beer situation. I'd read other reviews saying the service was terrible, but in my honest opinion, he was great. I also read that people weren't happy with the owner. I could see how he might rub people the wrong way, but he mostly just kept to himself -- we only spoke when he picked up my plates. Some things I ordered really stood out, while others were just mid -- not bad, but they didn't have that wow factor. Standouts: the salmon belly (highly recommend), the beef wagyu, the gyoza (I know, it's gyoza, hard to mess up, but I've had bad gyoza before), the amberjack (best I've had), and the yellowtail carpaccio, which was bomb. The only thing that I didn't really like was the soy sauce ramekin, it was difficult to dip my sushi in it. It's too small and square. All in all, I'd recommend this place to a friend if they're in the area, and I'll be coming back.

We ordered from the menu as pictured for four people and we were all full. Everything just melts in your mouth. Chef is well-known and made us comfortable. We're last minute planners so we called to see if they have availability that same night and they just so happened to have two seats open. Lucky us! It's a very unassuming place. It's not bougie, dimly lit, anything like that. But it's small and intimate and you really connect with Go, his wife, and the people you're dining with. It's just a small counter in front of him which seats I believe 8 people? We were chatting with the rest of the diners and we had a great time. There's no menu. You just commit to what they serve you. So prices are a complete mystery until they bring you the check. After a certain point, he'll ask if you want more sushi or if you're done. We decided to keep going. It's certainly a very expensive meal, so be prepared for that. We also got some sake as well, no menu but we asked for sake and we got a small bottle. Everything was plated and presented beautifully. He explains how he never freezes his fish unlike so many other places and just how fresh his fish is. I definitely respect their process and love how he and his wife have been doing this for such a long time. It's really beautiful. In terms of flavor and overall value, it was a delicious meal, certainly. But walking away, we felt the quality didn't quite match up to the value. It's a steep steep cost ($250/person) and for the amount we paid, we agreed it wasn't the best sushi we've had. It was a really beautiful meal though and we're very grateful for our time there.

This time we were able to get a table, and I'm glad we came back. The service was good overall. The staff was friendly, and while they could've been a little more attentive at times, it didn't take away from the experience. The food was delicious. I ordered a baked roll that was around $15, and while I really enjoyed it, I do wish it came with a few more pieces because five pieces felt a little light for the price. Flavor-wise, though, it was great. I also had the yellowtail roll, which I really enjoyed, and the hot sake was solid and reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, which gives it a cozy feel. Overall, it did exactly what we were looking for--a good, casual sushi date night with tasty food. I'd definitely come back and try more of the menu.
