Great Japanese cuisine, and friendlier waitstaff than the place across maccorkle. Come for lunchtime if you can (even on weekends) for good lunch special prices. The only thing that would make this place better would be if they had the option for brown rice instead of white with their entrees and sushi. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Bad service took forever to get steak teriyaki and rice so long that my husbands came out first and he was done with his meal (as well as others that got seated after us- done with their meals) and mine still had not came out. I asked the waitress to cancel my order that it was taking to long at this point it had been 1hr and 10mins and she offered no apology. We asked for check and that took another 20mins to get. They offered no discount or appetizer nothing. Maybe I just have high standards when It comes to customer service but I was NOT impressed at all. Won't be going back or recommending. read more

I come to Charleston at least once a month for a week at a time, and I will say their food here at Fujiyama's is really quite good! The soup tasted a little off, didn't get asked for a drink refill/replacement until after dinner was done, and the waiter forgot my chopsticks, but overall I was pleased. I think this is the best sushi in the Charleston aside from Fuji's on Jefferson road. Service is always great, sushi is delicious.

Service was atrocious. We called ahead to reserve a table and instead waited 40 minutes. After finally seated we sat there for 45 minutes before they took our drinks. Against our better judgement we stayed until the food came and had to ask for just about every item that we ordered repeatedly. My friend's birthday was ruined and she was about in tears because she felt so frustrated/embarrassed. If you are considering going here I would strongly recommend going somewhere else. read more

Was in town for work and a coworker suggested this place! I've been to a few places like this and it's the same as others. Really good food, great price. We came on a Wednesday around 8 and there was only one other full table. I sat and ate at the near empty bar at 5pm on a Wednesday. Barmaid Juan (pronounced zhin) was Chinese and very friendly and helpful. As more guests arrived at the bar and restaurant she did a masterful job of keeping everyone happy with glasses filled. She recommended mushroom soup and the daily special cowboy roll. I liked both and would recommend this location to anyone looking for Asian food in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. My reason for not granting 5 stars were the rather small liquor pours. Seemed to be less than 1.5 oz. per martini. read more

Some of the best hibachi style food that I've had, and definitely the best portions in the valley. We visit every few weeks for lunch, and everything - from the miso soup and ginger salad to the rolls, bento boxes, and other menu items - are great. Really enjoyed this place. We had reservations for a decent sized party and were seated on time. The decor is very pretty and definitely Japanese themed. The staff is friendly and engaging. We set at a grill and conversed comfortably over appetizers. The restaurants signature roll and the WV roll were delicious. Even those in the party who did not enjoy sushi enjoy this deep fried creation. With eel sauce and without it was delicious. The sashimi sampler was tasty and the correct texture. The food is typical hibachi style chicken, steak, shrimp, and vegetable. It is not going to blow you away but it is satisfying. Our chef dutifully created our meals and portioned them out without any of the theatrics overheard at the other tables. We will definitely return. read more

Really great atmosphere, clean, new, and somewhat classy. But as far as the hibachi goes, it's pretty standard if not a bit less standard. No egg yolk sauce. Can't remember if they had bean sprouts. I went there for a birthday party, with 15 other guests. We had reservations for 7 p.m. but didn't get seated until 7:45 p.m. We understood though because the place was packed and it was also the Saturday after Valentine's Day. That seemed to be the only hiccup of my experience. The food was great and our chef was amazing. He was extremely entertaining. I highly recommend this place. Me and my wife went here to eat on our 30th wedding anniversary worst food I have ever had the steak was supposed to be well done my wife don't like the sight of blood in her steak. Ours was not even close to being done. I told the waitress and she went and got the manager and all he said was I don't know what to do its almost all gone now and we had never even ate one bite of the steak.
