Born and raised in this town - we didn't have Fulio's when we were a kid growing up - but left at 19 and lived in Portland then moved to San Diego and now in East Texas - experienced lots of restaurants during that time. Moved back to Astoria in 2011 and was excited our small little town grew up with all these choices of restaurants and discovered Fulio's and enjoyed dining here on several occasions. Food is always great and waitress Wendy has always been super nice to us when we come in or ordered out! Their food you can never go wrong and their cocktails are pretty good too. Recommendation would be their seared grilled chicken Caesar salad and the appetizer Spedini. My boyfriend LOVES their lasagna and their steaks are fabulous too. Embarrassing dining experience. Imagine a restaurant run by a bunch of people who have never worked in a restaurant before. The food was so-so. The entire serving team needs to learn how to serve food. - Entree's were served at very different times. From first entree to the table to the last, with four diners was nearly ten minutes. - Desserts were also served nearly 10 minutes from the first plate to the third. - One dessert was served with finger smudged whipped cream on one corner. - The plates from the main course were 1/2 cleared, then 2 desserts arrived, and then the remaining plates were cleared when the final dessert arrived. - The first two desserts arrived without silverware. When the third dessert arrived 3 spoons, with water stains were provided. - Server brought the bill before we had finished dessert. Given as a single piece of paper, no pen. We couldn't figure out how to pay them. - 3 servers clanked around resetting their main table instead of bringing us or final dessert. Great experience for early dinner after the Reach the Beach bike ride. The service was thoughtful, from start to finish. The water was cold and delicious. The bread and olive oil was served right away. Sour dough Bread nice and warm. As we were going over the menu our server chimed in with their recommendations. We picked the rigatoni with sausage in creamy mustard sauce and I had the fettuccine crab pesto. We also shared a Greek salad. Great salad. I highly recommend. The pastas were served piping hot in large portions. Very very tasty. Can't wait to go back and try their ribeye. Patron next to us got the ribeye and told us that they have been coming here 20 years and their steak is the best in the region. read more

This is a nice little old-school Italian place with nice ambience and average Italian food IMO. My husband got the cioppino which was not the traditional stew but just some mussels, lots of octopus and some shrimp in the tomato broth over pasta. Okay but disappointing overall. I tried a crab pasta dish with a basil cream sauce and it was very rich, leaning on cream and butter and not much crab for flavor. Wouldn't order again and frankly won't go again. Wines by glass were okay but not great. Cocktails looked better. The service is good and it's a nice atmosphere for a date. We ate in the lounge and it was cozy. read more

One pasta dish was delivered so cold it had to go back. I'd never seen my husband send a dish back before. We ordered a rib eye and a New York strip both medium rare; one was medium, the other rare. One pasta dish ordered without cheese came with cheese on it. Roasted potatoes were cool and squishy rather than hot and crisp. Crab penne with pesto cream was so-so: warm and perfectly al dente, but the sauce had broken and was bland and under seasoned. Broccolini and cocktails were very nice, as was the butternut squash in curried cream sauce. The server did her best to make it right when she noticed uneaten steaks, but it was very disappointing. Kitchen really needs to up their game! I recall the host/manager years ago almost refusing to seat us when we arrived for lunch on a slow weekday from miles away in cycling gear; he disdainfully seated us in the back hoping no one would see us. Unfortunately, I did get to enjoy the complete experience of this restaurant or their complete menu due to COVID 19 restrictions, however, this little jewel will be something I come back to should the county ever allow these people to do business again. We enjoyed two of the most beautifully cardboard box presented meals I have ever seen. My husband had salmon and he delared it was amazing, incredible and MmMmm uh huh Mmm MMMMMMM or something like that. He is keto and even during this crazy time, they were willing to trade carbs for more veggies. I had alfredo and it was so amazing. I sat by the bay, in the beauty of nature in my car, truly feasting on the amazing noodles touched by the most incredible bechamel sauce...you could taste the delicate ingredients. The touches that change it from a basic jarred alfredo to something heavenly. It was such a nice evening. I had to actually call the restaurant and say thank you. I am so glad to have found a new place in Astoria...which I found because my favorite place has closed (I hope not for good.) Praying all of these restaurants are able to stay open and come back. I went with 2 visiting friends. Pleasant atmosphere, service was pleasant and overall very good. The food was good but not great in my opinion. The plating was a little sloppy. The reason is the flavor and ingredients while well prepared, were over shadowed by a heavy handed salting. This to me, seems a frequent experience if the "chefs" are smokers, which was confirmed as we left as some were standing outside the front smoking as we left. The serving sizes were more than adequate for pasta dishes. A suggestion would be to offer a few dishes of smaller size as some pasta dishes don't travel well for leftovers. I will give them another try regardless as it was reasonable and almost there with slight improvement. Sorry no pics. We had a vegetarian dish. Good Italian food great service great ambiance! What more needs to be said? Had the arbiatta (sp?) it was good but I'm used to having more Alfredo than Marinara and lots more red peppers. We were just trying to find a place to eat on our way home from warrenton. The prices on yelp are NOT accurate but it was exceptional. I love this place! My son and I stopped in here a few years ago, and had an excellent meal with competent and attentive service. The prices were fair, the location is very cool, and I love their white tablecloths and pretty blue water glasses. When we returned to Astoria just now, we really wanted to go there again, and we did. We were greeted again by a very pleasant and welcoming staff. The hostess went out of her way for us and made a very special and kind accommodation for us, without us even asking for it. She was clearly interested in making us comfortable and welcome. Wow! awesome! Loved it! My son had the rigatoni with mustard cream sauce, and it was very good, and my husband and I both had steaks, which were excellent. The vegetable side that accompanied the steaks was seasoned very well, and delicious. I absolutely recommend this place, it is well worth a stop if you are in Astoria and want good food and kind and welcoming service. I hope to go back soon myself. read more

I had the scampi a diavolle and the flavors were amazing! I highly recommend getting the alfredo as your side, it was an excellent pairing. We had a very simple meal, prepared well. Grilled Cesar and marinara with meatballs. The food was good. Glad we grabbed 2 extra meatballs as we shared the dish. A few little setbacks, asked if we could bring our own bottle at the host stand. Hostess was confused at first then gave us a shaky maybe, no word on corkage fee. Server didn't mention one either, but a $10 charge ended up on our tab. I know to expect it, but good CS says give me a heads up at some point. Lighting was a bit rough, drop fixtures to illuminate the tables without making us look like Calibar from the Halloweentown movies would have been awesome. We came in here just wanting a bowl of soup to warm up. We we're not very hungry however we ended up ordering the starter Spedini - oh my goodness so incredibly delicious big skewers of fresh mozzarella and Cristini with sautéed garlic and capers and tomatoes it was so so so good. Fulio's - Chef!!! - Italian Near Me - Astoria, Oregon

Terrible. My wife, our baby, and I were staying in Gearhart last weekend and had planned to go to Nonni's Bistro in Seaside on Saturday night; unfortunately, they were closed for construction. I, however, was still craving Italian food, and a quick Google search told me the only other place for miles was Fulio's in Astoria. I ignored my better judgment, which told me to run away when I saw "Italian and Mediterannean" in the restaurant's description. An Italian restaurant should be an Italian restaurant. Period. Don't screw around and add Greek or Lebanese or whatever else falls under the umbrella of "Mediterranean." Anyway, I ignored this red flag and we drove up there anyway. The positive parts were the ambiance (cool, light, nice posters of Italian movies and such on the wall, cool chandeliers and things) and the service (friendly and prompt). However, the menu was another red flag. Immediately I noticed bastardized concoctions like ravioli in curry sauce and totally alien dishes like fish tacos. Again ignoring my better judgment, I told myself I'd stick to the classics and be OK. I should have walked then and there. We started with an antipasto platter. This was not bad, actually, and it was probably the best part of our meal. It was, however, completely uninspired. Nothing on it looked housemade and in fact I'm pretty sure it all came from the supermarket. There was salami, some provolone cheese, water crackers, olives, and peppers. All tasted fine, but nothing special or unique about it. For our main course I had veal marsala and my wife had veal parmesan. It comes with a pasta side, so I chose alfredo and she chose "marinara;" i.e. red sauce. Not correct terminology (marinara means it has seafood in it) but a common enough misuse in America. When the veal came out, it was absurdly thin and skimpy, and yet somehow still overcooked and rubbery. The marsala sauce was OK, but a good sauce can't cover a bad piece of meat. Not in an Italian dish. My pasta was all right, but my wife's spaghetti was drowning in sauce. It looked more like a soup than a proper pasta dish. After a disappointing dinner, our baby was starting to fuss and we had to go, but I did let the waitress talk me into getting tiramisu to go. Tiramisu is my favorite dessert in the world and I figured it would be somewhat redeeming; how could they screw that up? Took it back to the hotel and it turned out it was pretty soggy. Not the worst part of the meal by far but not the redeeming moment I had hoped for. All in all, I won't be coming back to Fulio's, and I've gotten a strong reminder that no Italian is better than bad Italian. I would have been better served to go to one of the fish and chips places in Seaside or Cannon Beach and get simple food made well than to suffer this travesty of "Italian and Mediterranean" cuisine. read more
