I used to love this place, and I've reviewed it higher in the past, but the last few times I went I was really disappointed. For example, I went at 8am on Dec 19 after my son's early soccer game-NO ONE was there yet except the wait staff- so they should have no excuse right? Well the chef was not awake yet. I ordered a special eggs bene and they forgot the eggs-that's right- no eggs on the eggs bene. We had to flag down the waitress, who apologized and took my plate back to the kitchen. Instead of making me a fresh plate though, they sent back the SAME plate a reealy long time later with soggy fixings, and two COLD eggs on top- not fresh HOT ones, but probably the same eggs that had been lost in the kitchen. I was so sad! Usually this place does a great job on food, presentation, everything. I sent it back, as courteously as possible, and ordered an omelette, which should have been comped at that point- sadly no. Decent omelette, but late and full price. The service is wonderful and that's the main reason why I return to eat! They are not only very friendly, but also knowledgeable about the menu items. I worked with Lisa to set up a catering order for a wedding shower last Saturday in Kalamazoo. The staff made it easy to place the order and Lisa arrived on time to deliver the food, which was delicious! I do like eating at Full City Cafe. I mostly visit this place during lunch time. The pasta salad is great along with the olive burger and grilled chicken fajita. Some of the dinner specials are a miss and slightly over-priced in my opinion. I have also enjoyed the breakfast menu. Overall, quality ingredients and great customer service. read more

I was disappointed by the lack of attention to detail. The quiche was too salty. It was lukewarm at best. The crust was so tough I could not cut it. Waitress did not check back to see how I liked my food. The fruit cup had a decent variety of unripe fruit. Whoever dished it out did not observe or test for flavor or ripeness. The grapes were ripe but tasteless. The orange sections were dry and tough. The melons were hard and tasteless. The muffin was very good! I asked the waitress for an adjustment because I don't feel like I should pay for fruit that is not edible. She was a bit stumped by my request. It just seems that they have fallen into a slump here because it is the second breakfast I have experienced here where the prices are high but the quality is not. I did have some good butternut squash bisque for dinner in the fall, but again pricey. read more

Full City Cafe does it all and does it well! Breakfast, lunch and dinner, and not a weak link in any of their offerings. Creative menus with something for everybody. Food is consistently very well prepared and presented. Great wait staff and personable owners. Outstanding desserts and organic free trade coffee. Breakfast is 5 star, lunch is 3. They have a great coffee and espresso bar. Breakfast is high quality and tasty, but can get crowded. Lunch and dinner items often are fairly standard and are pricey for something similar to spiffed up diner food. Still, one of my favorite places in town. read more

This restaurant seems to be going out of business. They don't serve dinner anymore and the service staff is failing. The older woman with glasses and short hair should not be working up front. She is not friendly at all. I gave her a coupon that I received in the mail and she wouldn't let me use it for no reason. Full city used to have great salads and sandwiches but over the years, their prices drastically went up and the quality of the food and staff declined. Some of the best soup in West Michigan. It brought me to first come to this restaurant in the late '90s and it still never disappoints. Entrees are always top notch too with fantastic sides with them. Fish selections are always fresh and scrumptious. After a road trip, we have many times driven longer to get back to Full City Cafe for the best food around. I was just reminded to mention the super desserts, such as fruit tarts and the wonderful homemade dinner rolls served warm to your table. Yum! Got there right as they opened on a Saturday morning. That atmosphere was very comfortable and the big windows in the place make it feel really opened. The waitstaff was nice and helpful in my selection of food. I ended up getting the Eggs Benedict. It wasn't the best I ever had but I would go back again to try more. My friend had the Florentine and it was delicious. Wouldn't mind going back and trying more. read more

The specials are always good and I've enjoyed everything I've ordered from the regular menu. I don't find the prices out of line due to the quality of the food and service. If I could give zero stars I would. Last night, my mother and I stopped in to have a quick dinner salad. We live down the street so are very regular customers. We stopped in about 7:00 (not peak dinner time) and it was not that busy, I've certainly seen it busier. My mom and I ordered the exact same salad and it took 35 minutes to come out. Our waitress Claire did not tell us to expect a long wait, never even acknowledged that we had been waiting for such a long time and seemed completely unconcerned. After a half an hour waiting for a salad, we asked for the manager. After waiting for at least ten minutes for the manager, a young man named Brett who had been waiting tables appeared at our table identifying himself as the manager. He was dressed like a server so we didn't even know he was the manager. He had waited on a table next to us and saw we had been waiting and never said anything to us. So he comes to our table and the first thing he says is "okay I have a quick minute"-not what a manager should start off with. My mother then asked him why it took 35 minutes to get two simple, smoked chicken salads (they didn't even have to grill it!). He was very rude, saying they only have two people in the kitchen so that happens sometimes- completely unapologetic and flippant. As if it's normal to wait that long for food. My mom told him we're regulars and will not be coming back and he said "okay" and shrugged. He is unlike any manager I've ever met. Most managers would at least apologize and he never once did that. My mom then showed him that some of her chicken was fatty and gristle and he said "what's the problem with that chicken?" And she picked it up to show it to him since apparently he wouldn't take her word for it. He shrugged again and said "we hand pull it, so...." And trailed off. It made no sense. When we are paying $15 for a salad and some of the chicken is fat and gristle after a 35 minute wait, that is ridiculous. And then he was obviously so upset and annoyed by my mom's polite comments (which is a manager's job, to hear feedback and fix it) that my mom actually asked "are you ok? Am I upsetting you?" Because he was staring her down and very agitated. He said "I'm fine, are we done? Is there something else?" And she said "no" and without apologizing ONCE he just walked away. We were charged for the full amount and ended up paying $37 for a terrible experience and below average salads. Management is terrible, salads were subpar. They have lost regular customers because of the extremely long wait with no acknowledgement or apology and their rude manager Brett. Do not go here, I will tell my friends who also come here about our experience because that is how terrible it was. read more

Probably have been here half a dozen times over the past couple of years. If I lived in the area I'm sure that number would increase. Consistently tasty, no matter if I order savory, sweet, hearty or light. The staff is friendly and attentive and we've never had an issue getting a table, even on weekends. They offer a good selection of specials in different categories each day (e.g., quiche, scones, hash, non-alcoholic beverages, etc.). Price is mid-range with maybe $9-$10 dollar median meal price. There are few restaurants in this area that have both a constant, creative menu and a continuously changing menu of culinary gems. Full City tops this short list. With great skill and taste, the chef provides plate after plate of delicious selections. Today, I had one of my favorites from the ongoing menu: Hippie Hash 2.0. This combination of diced sweet potatoes, onions and cauliflower topped with thinly sliced radishes and crispy kale is a breakfast delight accompanied by a freshly baked black current scone.
