It's kind of funky outside, but when you walk in, it's like going back in time to a diner from the forties or fifties, including a counter with stools. A huge family diner menu with just about anything you could want - this place is a comfort food lover's paradise! Good basic fresh cold salad, freshly cooked food, a senior menu that not only boasts 1/3 cheaper prices than the normal menu, but dinners that include dessert along with soup or salad, potato and bread. The breakfasts are Southern style and I can't wait to go for breakfast soon. Even if you're not a senior and are ordering from the main menu, the prices are really reasonable. Anti-Jewish sentiment from the waitstaff? That was unexpected. I've stopped here periodically for a year, for a tasty, greasy, inexpensive to-go breakfast sandwich. I had time today to stop and dine in, sat at the counter, got my breakfast, tasted fine. The surprise came in the conversation the two servers were having with a regular diner two seats down about politics. Trump this and that, I didn't say anything and kept to myself. Then one server says, "yeah, always on Facebook saying this stuff, she's typical Jewish." I then packed up, paid my bill, mentioned to my cashier that her colleague oughta be more cautious about what she says at her job, and left. I won't be coming back. Not a fan of that kind of talk, especially when received with smiles and nods. Basic rule in service industry: don't say crap on the floor that's politically charged or prejudicial. She's entitled to all her views, but I won't spend my money at a business who employs, not just someone who is obviously prejudiced, but more broadly, someone who lacks the self control to converse in a publicly acceptable manner. You have to be a local to fully appreciate the magic of the Full Moon. 1. They sponsored my little league team when I was 6. Yes, my team picture was on the wall for years. It may actually still be up somewhere... 2. Many a days during my preteen years were spent hanging out in those old, cracked, leather booths that probably hadn't been washed down since installation, working out the sordid details of a junior high love triangle. 3. The parking lot (that doubles as a shady truck stop at night)...total make out city!! This is where boys become men. 4. Great diner food. Milk shake and fries, of course. The breakfast food is damn good too. 5. Bizarre staff...they always seem to be a couple of flapjacks short of a full stack...yea... The customers will beat out any people watching experience you've ever had in the past. It's not a five start restaurant people. It's the FULL MOON. Enjoy it. read more

I still love this place. It has been at least 20 years since the last time I was here. I used to go all the time as a kid with my dad when Fort Sheridan was still open. So I decide to stop after a late Monday night in the the city. 3:30am, only customer in 2 hours. The waitress was a sweetheart. I actually felt bad about breaking her away from her word search book. Ordered the Full Moon Breakfast Skillet with bacon. Epicly delicious. Potatoes super crispy, bacon crispy (which is impressve to me since it is under eggs and cheese and potatoes) Eggs cooked exactly to order. Since it was slow, even the cook came out to make sure everything was cooked right, big plus in my book. I was in HEAVEN! Full Moon is every bit as fantastic as I remember, and I will probably be there a lot more often now. P.S. I love Roseanne reruns at 4am, kudos for good late night TV picks! read more

Went here the morning after my son graduated from boot camp at nearby Great Lakes Naval Station. We had traditional breakfast fare, it was delivered to our table promptly, hot off the grill and by a friendly waitress who acted like she had invited us over to breakfast at her own home. Numerous people working at, or customers at the restaurant stopped by to shake my son's hand and tell him thank you for serving his country. Pretty remarkable experience and the food was really good and reasonably priced too! read more

Food was delicious. Our server was very nice and attentive. Unfortunately there was another waitress who was quite loud with her frustrations and yelled at who appeared yo be the owner. When we were leaving we paid our bill with the owner and when I asked about the Military discount he sighed, rolled his eyes and told me I should have done it beforehand. I told him nevermind, and figuring out how much 10% is apparently too complicated. The 5 stars for the food. 3 stars overall. read more

I visited with my wife & son on a Sunday evening after my cousin recommended it to us. He had eaten here many times when he was stationed at Naval Station Great Lakes. All three of us got breakfast. My son had the Ultimate Pancakes and really enjoyed them. My wife had the Ultimate Waffles and she liked them as well. I had the 3 egg breakfast and it was good. The only reason I am not giving them a 5 star rating is the waitress. She stopped by the table to get our drink order right away. When she delivered the drinks, we weren't ready to order and asked for a few more minutes. A few more minutes turned into 10 minutes and she only came over because I was able to get the hostesses attention and ask her to send our waitress over. When the waitress arrived she had an attitude that wasn't there before. I don't know what happened but she was not a very good waitress at all. I will go back there again and hope I don't get the same waitress or she is in a better mood. read more

I drive from Kenosha all the time to eat here. They have lots of choices and great food. My favorite is the Farm Style breakfast (3 eggs, hash browns, bacon/sausage, toast) Multiple seating arrangements: counter, booths and tables. They also have some of the best cheesecake ever. They have an easy entrance and exit parking lot to either go north or south on the highway, so no matter what direction you're coming from, stop in! read more

Stopped at this joint on the way back late at night after a show in Chicago. I'm not sure if it was the martinis I had at Smart Bar but the place was a little surreal. In a good way. The other diners seemed to be regulars and sitting at the counter gave us a first-hand look at the waitstaff/kitchen interaction, which was fun and funny. Ordered a basic greek omelette (feta omelette) which came with American fries and hot coffee. Totally hit the spot. I really liked this place! My girlfriend and I were traveling from Chicago to Milwaukee and wanted to stop someplace for lunch and we decided to try this place out and we enjoyed it! It looks a little sketchy from the road (there's a big "Truckers Welcome" sign that put us off a little, plus it's painted a little on the bright and tacky side) but the place was great inside. I had the turkey club and my partner had just a side of fries and a slice of chocolate cake. The club sandwich was fabulous - the bacon was so crunchy it was perfect! The food is always prepared to my liking, it's always 100% accurate and extremely delicious! There's a wide variety of food on the menu and it's all very delicious. I recently had a bacon omelette w/hash brown and toast which melted in my mouth. The French toast with fresh banana and strawberries was also very tasty. This restaurant has a special place in my heart, and I'm actually pleasantly surprised the interior hasn't changed since my family frequented this place in the 90's. We lived nearby in naval housing and came here when traveling back from Chicago. My dad always loved the breasted chicken, and the staff were always so warm/friendly. The manager always gave me a lollipop or piece of gum when I was with my mom as she came up to pay. Great place! read more

I was visiting the town for a few days. I went to most of the other restaurants within a 30 min drive from my hotel that serve breakfast & this was hands down the best. Fast service, delicious food, HUGE portions, and all at a great price! The menu is massive too. If you get a chance to come here, I recommend the gyro skillet. read more
