The service is ok-good. We've gone there 2x and the 1st waitress was not super friendly, but she wasn't crabby. The 2nd time we went, the waitress was friendlier so that was nice. Both times, we were served in a timely manner so I guess not much to complain about. Both times, the owner was there. He treated his customers like friends and it was really nice to see. The food is pretty good. The 1st time I had corned beef and cabbage and it was nice and tender with a good portion of food! My husband had the Greek Chicken which had a nice flavor. The 2nd time, we both got the Greek Chicken. I felt like it was a little dry. I'm not sure how fresh it was but it still had a good flavor. I won't order it again but I'll definitely be back to try their Broasted Chicken. Their cream of chicken soup was good. However, their water tasted a little weird. I don't know if it is just the water in the area or what. Nothing that would drive me away. The prices are right there with others, not cheap,but what is. The restaurant itself gives off a truck stop or diner vibe. Parking isn't great. But the location is pretty convenient off of 41. We'll be back. read more

So I decided to eat breakfast here since it is near my husband's base. To start, the service was friendly but the quality of the food was the very opposite. I guess you get what you pay for. My hash browns were burned to a crisp, the pancakes crumble the moment you sink a fork into them, and the eggs were burned from the bottom. The restaurant was empty so there was no excuse to get the food this bad. My advice, go across the street to McDonalds and save your money. Not worth it and will never be coming back. Let's be honest, the only time I ever go here is the wee hours after an evening of carousing in Chicago and I'm on my way home when I know that if I don't eat something, I'm gonna be hurting the next day. Full Moon doesn't disappoint. The menu is a typical encyclopedia of breakfast to brunch to lunch to dinner to dessert options. There's a basket of bread on the just clean enough tables, and the waitresses are all Flo's diner types who call you "honey" and "sugar." I usually get a bowl of soup with a sandwich here and I like the homemade chicken noodle. Last time I ordered the chicken and bacon club sandwich with fries. Halfway through, I said to myself, "That's too much!" The waitress happily brought me a box to take the other half of my meal home. I put the giant portion into the box with the extra fries, and somehow managed to finish it at the table before I left while the last of my concert buzz wore off. Where did it go? Food is tasty. Portions are large. Service is friendly. Prices are reasonable. Quality suffices. Full Moon hits the spot for me. That being said, I never get the urge to eat here unless I have a few under my belt, so don't expect any Michelin stars in the near future. That's okay. It's a roadstop open 24 hours, and you never know what truckers or people of the night you're going to run into here. read more

There's always a good amount of parking but this is definitely just a normal diner. However, it was not as good as I thought it would be. Food: 1. Blueberry Waffle: overloaded with jam that made it WAY too sweet. It was really overkill with the jam. But the waffle itself was nice and crisp but still fluffy and thick. I would recommend this but to go easy on the toppings or have the fruit jam on the side because it was too much. 2. Skillet: Too much OIL. Goodness there was oil seeping everywhere that made it so unappetizing... but I guess I might just be spoiled by Wildberry skillets with the delicious cheeses. This skillet was topped with American Kraft-like Cheese with very few vegetables. It was mainly egg. :/ 3. Fries: I love french fries and it's my guilty pleasure. But one of the things I dont like is when fries are so oily that it's kind of translucent from being DOUBLE FRIED? no no no no no. Def wouldn't get that again. 1 additional star for the friendly service. But I doubt I would be returning any time soon. read more

I meant to make this my 300th review, as this is one of my old time favorites. I haven't been out this way in some time. My Pops used to live in the area and I would visit here routinely. Back in the 90's I actually serviced some of their Casablanca fans, which I now see are long gone. Good to see Spyro, the owner, is still here. My favorite waitress Helen is still on the floor too. This is true home cooking and everything is made from scratch. Awesome soup too. Open 24/7 every day of the year and if memory serves, they always offer a free meal on Thanksgiving too. read more

The full moon cafe is a classic from 1978. Bng biscuits are premade, not bad but not great.  The gravy was just bad, it was thick but with no sausage or any other flavor.  The sausage patties were also surprisingly bland so the sausage which could have been used was also bad The skillet was good that my buddy had.  The best part of my meal was the eggs and the side of Texas toast which really was done well. Plus there's so many different walks of life that come into the restaurant. As a people watcher, this is totally my forte. Wait staff is like a 80s movie diner stuck out of time; they'll treat you like you've been coming there for years. If you're looking for a place that is the physical manifestation of kitsch, eat here. Seriously the walls and ceiling look like they were designed by a person with schizophrenia. It's amazing. Love the service. We have been twice and the waitresses we had were just very friendly, fun and had a sense of humor! This place is a classic diner. They have all types of menu items (including Gyros!) and serve breakfast all day. I had the Tuna salad sandwich both times and loved it!!! The breakfast portions looked big and tasty. I planned on eating here for a few months since I knew I'd be in town on Thanksgiving. We got there around 1pm and there was a line outside the building to the corner. That being said the wait til was only maybe 7 minutes and my husband and myself sat at the bar. They really do have a free Thanksgiving meal and it's really good! The turkey was moist, the potatoes were homemade, same with the stuffing, gravy, and there was corn. The biscuits were pre-made in packages but that's okay. My favorite was the stuffing which just made me think of my Great Grandma's cooking. The yellow gravy was yummy also. I'm not a fan of corn, but my husband enjoyed it. It was all very fresh and good! We ordered a piece of pecan pie which was SOO good and the lady put lots of whipped cream on it to make me happy. (lol) Helen, our waitress, was such a sweetie, heck they were all sweeties. I also think I met the owner, an older man who was wearing a red sweater that day. An older man with a cane came up to him and said he was about $1.30 short for his bill. I was reaching for my credit card since I was going to pay for the gentlemen and the guy without missing a beat shook his hand and said not to worry about it and have a Happy Thanksgiving. At this point I'm holding back tears and so was my husband. Everyone got a fresh, warm, and free Thanksgiving meal while I was there without discrimination. After paying for my pie and tipping nicely I was still paying less than I would for a couple "value menu" items at your local fast food place. I would come here again if I'm in the area. Their menu looks good and if their Thanksgiving menu is respective of how their food tastes: It's DELICIOUS! No you're not getting gourmet hoity toity food; you're getting what you wish your Grandma made (or did in my case). Comforting and good. DO NOT EAT HERE!! Especially if you are military! The service was absolutely horrendous and food was subpar. I came with my brother who had just graduated from Navy basic training for breakfast. The waitress (an older red head woman) was just completely rude from the start. She about threw our menus at us, as she was suppose to be laying them on the table and then quickly walked off. She was short with us while taking our order, not allowing my brother an opportunity to properly order. She had asked a question about his meal, that he did not understand because he didn't hear the question (he clearly appeared confused). Instead of giving him a chance to say that he didn't hear or her kindly repeat herself, she took the menus from him and took it upon herself to make the decision for him (apparent when the food came out). I had gone to the bathroom at one point and asked my brother to get the check while I was gone. I came back to him telling me that she quickly came and got our finished plates, but didn't give him an opportunity to ask for the check. So I got her attention and asked. In doing so she turned around with the worst body language (what appeared to be annoyed looking like "what did we want") and half nodded her head to my request. In came off to us, that basically she'd get to us, when she got to us. Let me add that it was not busy in the restaurant! And I'll add that no military discount was offered or on the check, nor did I care to ask after the experience. But, seeing that my brother was in uniform along with others from the training base, shouldn't have had to ask. By far the worst service and experience I have received and worse that my brother, a brand new Sailor had been treated in such a manner for his service. Management needs to be completely ashamed of themselves for allowing this waitress to work in what should be a military friendly establishment. read more

My daughter graduated from Great Lakes on 01/25/2019 and afterwards we stopped in and have a great lunch. Terry, our server, was very patient, polite, and super friendly. She understood that we wanted to spend some time with my daughter, enjoy a great meal and take in as much time with family as possible. I've always wanted to eat at a diner. Full Moon did not disappoint. Great helpings of food, everything tasted fresh and delicious. Our table had the cheese burgers, pot roast, and chopped steak - my mouth is watering as I'm typing. Really liked the atmosphere and the people. Had ham and eggs over medium with potatoes, Greek toast and coffee. Food was overall decent. Service was great. I would go again. Only a few things I would like to see change. Ham was pretty salty. Whatever oil or butter-like stuff they put on the potatoes is oily tasting and they use way too much of it. Nothing here was good. The Ruben was a lumpy mess of sauerkraut and salted rubbermeat, served with a side of soggy fries. The trout was just foul, and the soups were straight out of a bag. The "ice cream" tasted like processed corn syrup and soy; its unclear if it contained any milk. Waitress also charged us two bucks for club soda (water with air in it), which is BS. Dry chicken that also tasted like it was reheated in a microwave. Which you can clearly hear the dinging from in the dining room. The sauce was horrible and clumpy as if they thawed it out just enough in the microwave to spread on last weeks rotisserie chicken from the local supermarkets deli and allowed to re-congeal to a thick paste. But wait theres more. Chicken fried steak both pieces were the identical size as if cookie cuttered in a factory. If i wanted ALDI food i would have gone there. The "country gravy" tasteless Elmer's glue that was warmed and had what i hoped was a spattering of black pepper in it. The place has signs all over touting "home cooked". Well sure if you count reheated frozen food as cooked. The place was empty not even 7 other patrons, and they could not even properly toast a pita for gyros correctly without burning it. I recently ate here and love the portion size, great prices, good food, friendly atmosphere, the fact they aren't a corporate food chain, and their being open 24 hours. These days it seems family owned restaurants are a rare thing, let alone one that's open past 9pm or midnight. I highly recommend the Italian style spaghetti with the vegetable beef soup. The soup is the best tasting American soup I've had in a very long time. The desserts are awesome, especially the cake. If you're there and they have cake, grab a piece. I also liked the laid back, traditional American restaurant atmosphere and customer base. In today's society, it's good to have places like this available so one can get away from the rush of the city and it's nearby suburbs. I live just outside of Chicago, but I'll be returning to the Full Moon as I head out that way often. read more

Yes! This place...YES! My husband and I stopped by after Six Flags closed for the night in July 2017. I'm so in love with this place! It's a total classic! You've got to see the place on the inside. I'm so glad that places like this still exist. Our server was a delight, and the service was great. The menu was HUGE. I ended up ordering crepes with fresh bananas, and my husband ordered a breakfast combination that included a gigantic gyro omelet, hash browns, and toast. We also split a piece of apple pie because they were sadly out of coconut cream pie for dessert. Our total for all of this equaled just over the price of one entree in the theme park. One of my favorite restaurants that I've been going to since I was here back in 2006. The place never changes and the food was still delicious as always. Got back in Illinois this year (2019) and the first restaurant we visited was Full Moon. My kids ordered steak and pancake, the wife ordered something with a shrimp and I got the liver with onions.
