Our server was very nice though the service itself was a bit slow. We waited quite a bit for beers but she ended up giving us 2 on the house which was nice. The food was just OK. I had french onion soup, it was good but needed salt. I also HAD to get poutine. It was goooood, but it was dry. There was little to no gravy on the fries which is a huge component in poutine. In a part of the state where there are a lot of options for nationwide chains and even local ones, this is one to skip. It could be better if management/kitchen staff wouldn't cut corners! I've been to the Palmyra location and recently the Leola one. The first time I got a burger, which was a frozen patty, grayish on the inside. That's not what you should get for $8.50, considering some fast food restaurants don't even use frozen patties anymore. My second visit, I got the happy hour special, which was boneless wings. The spicy barbecue sauce is very good, but the garlic parmesan doesn't taste like much of anything. On this second visit, someone else in our party got a burger, and again, more frozen meat. read more

Funck's has exceeded the surrounding area bars when it comes to the amount of beers on tap. So much so that now that I'm in the Memphis area, it's all I want in a bar..... and there aren't any bars like that. So I have to say job well done Funck's because you've one-upped so many places. Ate here with my kids. Good atmosphere. Pretty standard kids menu, except the sides were not very "kid friendly", meaning no applesauce or fruit option. I ordered the fish tacos and the one fish piece was still a little raw and not cooked the whole way through. Then, I found a hair . Pros: great beer selection and awesome atmosphere. Cons: super bland food. Everything seems prepare and then reheated. No signature dishes that make you clamor to return. The burger I had a very wet bottom bun (sitting for a while) and the fries seemed like they came right from a distributor and right into the fryer. Nothing special food wise. Also they charge roughly 9-12 dollars for a burger with chips, fries being extra. If you are visiting the area I'd try somewhere else unless you are trying to have a wide array of beer. read more

Fantastic service at the bar. Since I have worked as a cocktail waitress in the past, my bar is set a bit higher. Both male bartenders were on the ball all the time from the time someone walked in to them taking their eyes off the menu. Just the right amount of service. The food was excellent. I had the seafood tacos and they weren't too skimpy on the shrimp and scallops like some places. Had the heffeweizen that Ryan in the bar recommended and it turned out to be an excellent choice. Recieved by a rude hostess who seemed like she didn't want to be there and didn't have the time of day for us. However, we were seated rather quickly, although we missed a few trivia questions. We were in the area on a Monday and decided to stop in for some drinks and grab something to eat. We started by sitting at the "outside" bar that was enclosed in glass giving good natural light and because the inside bar was fairly empty. The few open seats at the bar were near the center where most drinks are made which seemed to attract flies. Not just one or two, but at one time I counted 9 while waiting for our drinks. Since we were going to be eating, having the flies around didn't appeal to us. So we moved to the inside bar. Bar service was good, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Monday's special is Burgers and Fries so we decided to go with that. I had the California Burger. I requested rare but the bartender stated they could only do medium rare. I said okay but on the rare side would be perfect. The burger came out perfect. My wife had a Bacon Cheeseburger, medium well, and was cooked perfect as well. The fries were fresh, hot and crispy and the burgers had good flavor. There's a good draft list as well. I was leaning toward 3 stars because of the flies, but after moving to a different location, the food and service persuaded me to 4 stars. Definitely will return. read more

We have eaten here before with good results. Decided to go out on a nice Friday night and try it again. When we walked up to the hostesses for out door dining they looked like they didn't want to be there... eventually one smiled and asked how many. We were seated and placed our order with the server... an appetizer and we both got sandwiches. 5 minutes later our sandwiches were being brought to us. I asked why our our appetizer wasn't brought first. The plate carriers said they would check with our server. The server brought out the appetizer as we are eating our sandwiches and I said "I don't really want it now". She said she would take it off our check and brought us a box to take it home. We were then harassed at the bar by the manager and called the C word out of nowhere??? It was an accident??? Manager told us he has cameras in the bathroom and he saw us break a drink in there. So are there cameras watching me pee????? Bartender then overcharged one friend for a drink and when she politely asked for a refund he threw the cash in her face!!!!! Have eaten here several times. Went in today at 11:30am for lunch and it was terrible. Our waitress was not very good. Personality of a rock. Ill start off with My unsweetened tea tasting like dirty water. Exchanged it for a coke. One of our appetizer plates was dirty. Spinach and artichoke dip came out, dip was good but chips were way overcooked. I ordered a chicken corn rival soup and i took one bite and it tasted off. Second bite I think it tasted sour or something. Didnt eat it. My bf and daughters meals were ok. Steak sandwich and meatloaf. Wont be going back after this visit. We went to Funck's for the first time ever the other day. Our waitress was the Bartender - since we were seated at a booth in the bar area. I gave her the easiest order ever - and it was still messed up! I asked for a plain burger, well done, and just to bring ketchup to the table with the meal. When the meal arrived, my burger had tomato, onion, and lettuce on it. It also had plenty of mayo as well. Not sure what part of plain burger was hard to understand??? So after I had pushed everything aside, and wiped the mayo off with a napkin, I applied the ketchup. One bite into the burger and I knew this was not cooked to my specifications. I had asked for well done and I am not even sure my burger would have qualified for medium it was so pink. I just turned to my Wife and told her I would finish it without a fuss, but that this place was "ONE AND DONE" for us. read more

I cannot believe what they've done with the old Leola Family Restaurant! Visited today with my wife, sons and our daughter and her friend. I'll list the "Pros" first: 1. Like I said, they gutted the interior to create an open, airy atmosphere. We thought about dining outside, but even though I love summer, this afternoon was a bit nasty for outdoor comfort. 2. The service was great, on time, and not pushy in my opinion. 3. If you are a beer nerd, this is your place, but they have an extensive list of non-beer drinks, such as "The Whiskey Relaxer", that our daughter's friend had. He said that he was relaxed. 4. The food menu is basically bar-food oriented, but if you want a formal dinner, it's on the menu. 5. I had the shrimp tacos, my wife and daughter had salads, all thumbs up. The three guys had burgers of some sort, only negative was that the burgers needed seasoning. 6. The "Emily's Fries" as an app were very good. Cons: 1. The piped-in music,, modern C&W, was waaay too loud. 2. Our daughter and her friend ordered dessert, a half-baked chocolate chip cookie dough thingee, with ice cream topped with whipped cream. We passed it around, and it was great. Then our daughter noticed what we all thought was a huge chocolate chip..no, it was the nozzle of the whipped cream dispenser. How did that not get noticed?? Our friends just moved to the area and have been talking about Funck's nonstop, so we decided to check it out last night. We arrived with a party of 8 only to find out the wait was an hour and a half.. so we headed straight for the bar. The bartenders were so friendly and attentive! They offered samples and gave recommendations, and had a good alternative when I ordered a beer that was kicked. We had garlic Parmesan wings (our favorite), but really didn't love the creamy sauce. We also ordered the cheese curds which were really good and came with delicious honey mustard. I am looking forward to coming back and trying out some more of the menu. read more

We ordered some boneless wings for an appetizer and they were pretty good. I liked the two sauces spicy bbq and hot. The baja fish tacos had cheese on them which I thought was awful with the fish. I never heard of fish tacos with cheese which completely ruined the dish. Not sure why they can't just find a random recipe online for fish tacos like I make with no cheese. Friends of mine have told me to go here for a while now but although it is only a 10-15 min drive I don't usually go to that area of town. I have now been there two times in one week! The food is delicious. My favorite cheat meal is a burger and fries so I'm always aware of the few restaurants that make it worth the cheat. Funck's is definitely making the list. The second time I had their Reuben which was always delicious and had a good ratio of ingredients, a necessary attribute for a good sandwich. Dining with 40+ people in the back bar. The music was so loud, people were covering their ears. Others were yelling to talk, complaining about the volume. I sought out the manager, and he was rude: no apologies, no concern, no interest. I've dined at other Funck's-owned/affiliated restaurants, and they never treated people like this.
