The hostess was very gracious and took our order even through the restaurant was very busy. They came back within ten minutes, ran our card, and we were on our way. We didnt realize that the cake came with ice cream, and we wouldn't make it home before it melted, so we quickly found a bench downtown and OMG...the first bite was life changing!! We practically inhaled at least half of it right there, with the ice cream and berry sauce! The sweet, crunchy, sugared edges takes this treat to a whole other realm! Give yourself time to find parking. The restaurant is small and the atmosphere is loud. We were lucky to have been seated in the outside patio area which was covered and comfortable, better yet not as loud so we were able to have a nice conversation. Michael was our server and he did a great job. He didn't rush us and offered good suggestions. We started with drinks, an old fashioned for Stephen. Alice and I had their fresh lemonade and it was refreshing and just a tad tart. Alice and I both enjoyed our cioppino which we could have shared (paired with a salad or side) and it came with a sizeable sourdough loaf. Stephen had the maple spicy meatloaf and he said it wasn't spicy. We all enjoyed the meal. I would definitely recommend this place but if you like it more quiet, ask for the patio. Dinner for 3 with tip came to $176. The Pagent of the Masters is a 5 min drive away or a 15-20 min walk. Our 5:30 reservation was perfect and gave us time to enjoy the art and artists before the 8:30 show.

It was the most delicious Mexican food I have ever had! I got the flautas and my BF ordered the soft taco variety plate. We also got the chips, guac, and salsa as appetizers, and we absolutely devoured it all! Sorry we didnt waste time with photos, but the presentation was gorgeous, and whole vibe of the restaurant was bursting with happy people and good energy. The views of the ocean were spectacular from where I was sitting, and I'd say it's probably a beautiful spot to watch the sun sink into the ocean! We were lucky to get a same-day, late-afternoon reservation, which was easy enough. There is a charge for cancelations and large parties, but other than that, everything was amazing! Service was phenomenal, even though it was super hot and muggy, no one seemed like they were unhappy to be working there. The restroom was clean, nicely decorated, and whatever scented room freshener they're using made me want to find out how to buy some for myself...lol. The only drawback is the ladies restroom is small, with only two stalls and one sink, so there was a line and it was a little too crowded, especially on a hot day. Otherwise, a top-notch dining experience, and will be our go-to when we spend time in Laguna!

It's my go-to recommendation for anyone visiting Laguna Beach, because you can't visit Orange County without having Mexican food at least once, and for an elevated experience with consistently great food, South of Nick's is reliably that. The view is amazing in particular Laguna Beach, you get that great ocean view, and the inside is large and spacious with big windows, so you can see the water from just about every seat. They start you off with complimentary chips and a trio of dips (two salsas and a bean: the bean is amazing, by the way). The guac is great too if you want to add it on: nice large chunks of generous avocado, seasoned perfectly. The enchiladas are delicious and my usual order. I admit that once I like something, I hardly ever want to try anything new, but I've never heard a complaint about anything else on the menu. They do have a combo plate option if you want to try a few things, so that's a good call for a first-timer. Overall, love South of Nicks and really happy this is a staple of the city!

Their hospitality made us feel truly welcomed, and it's rare to find a team that cares so much about their guests, Sal really took initiative to make it a rememberable dinning experience, I never interacted with a more professional and well manned manager ever in my life. They even were able seated us at a beautiful table overlooking the ocean, where we got to enjoy an unforgettable sunset during dinner. The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the Caesar salad with steak, and it was hands down one of the best Caesar salads I've ever had. The dressing was rich and flavorful, and the steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned beautifully. We also started with the focaccia appetizer, which was outstanding. The bread was warm, soft, and fresh, and the honey butter spread completely exceeded my expectations. I could have eaten it by itself all night! For my drink, I had the chef's special cocktail made with limoncello vodka and (I believe) lemon boba. It was not only beautiful to look at but also one of the most unique and delicious cocktails I've ever had. Between the incredible food, the breathtaking ocean view, and the outstanding service, this was a dining experience I'll remember for a long time. Thank you, Sal and Mariah, for making us feel so welcome and taking such great care of us. We left feeling appreciated, happy, and already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend!

This area just across PCH has always been a convenient place to grab something, but it's even better now that they've closed off the street and turned it into a promenade of sorts. The restaurants have expanded their outdoor seating and during the summer they have live musicians playing later in the day. It felt festive and very summer-in-Laguna. This review is mostly for the vibes. Our waiter was chill and friendly, the food came out quickly and although it's priced for tourists, it was decent. The thin, crispy fries were solid.
