I had a great time at the Funny Bone! The show was amazing. The opening act was really entertaining and did a great job interacting with the audience, especially those sitting near the stage. There was a very intoxicated woman in the front row who kept getting up and interrupting the show, and at one point she even tried to confront the comedian. The comedian handled the situation professionally, adjusted her set, and kept the show moving. It definitely made for an interesting night! The headliner, Vic DiBitetto, was absolutely hilarious. I laughed the entire time! His comedy about real-life struggles was relatable and had the whole room entertained. The drinks were delicious! I had two Jamaican Me Crazy drinks; one with pomegranate and one with strawberry; and added two shots of coconut rum to each. Surprisingly, I didn't feel like they were overly strong, but they were tasty and definitely enjoyable. My only complaint would be the seating. The tables and chairs are extremely close together, and the space feels very cramped. It can be uncomfortable trying to get in and out or move around. Overall, it was a fun night with great comedy, good drinks, and a memorable experience. I would definitely come back to see another show! read more

This review is about the business and not the act. I had been invited by one of my friends to see a well known comedian who had a scheduled act at the Funny Bone. Doors typically open 60-minutes before the show for drinks and bites which was great option. There was an incredibly long line well before the doors opened for this sold out show. Doors opened promptly and the hosts were nice seating parties efficiently. Obtaining service definitely took some time and it was apparent that they were short staffed. Not to mention, they chose a very busy night to train new hires. We ordered our round of drinks, and 3 sets of wings in Buffalo, General Tso and Barbecue with Tater Tots The show didn't kick off until 6-10 minutes after with "videos" of advertising for the upcoming shows. It would've been better if this was on a loop during that whole hour. The volume was incredibly loud and absolutely deafening. Finally our drinks arrived but I didn't get the merchandise cup for refills. Luckily we didn't get charged for it because the servers never came back to check on us to order more items or any particular refills. A member of our party also didn't receive the water they've asked for even after the show had already kicked off. The food took a long time to arrive and only told us that the kitchen was backed up. Advance ordering should be implemented or use kiosks at tables for a more efficient service. What's more concerning is that, the emergency alarm triggered and there was a 5-10 minute delay to evacuation. The establishment was not prepared and seemed no procedures were in place. Something could've happened, or worse. After evacuation, there was no direction on where to have guests congregate. People were literally outside and too close to the building We missed a good moment of our paid admission and any food we couldn't consume before the alarm went to waste. As soon as we could return, no other services were provided. Didn't even get the chance to order dessert. We were haded our checks and they made their way around to charge folks. Upon our turn, they can only take one card or cash. Quite restricting but understandable. Pay close attention that an 18% gratuity has been included to all checks and I wouldn't agree to add anything more. I can't lie, I read a lot of reviews before visiting the Funny Bome and they definitely made me nervous. I think I lucked out on the night that I went. There were definitely some service snafus other reviewers have mentioned that I can echo. They were confused on which table to bring us to and I think it led to the wrong food being delivered to our table all night. By the fourth time it was a bit annoying. The food was OK and came within 15 minutes. I don't go to a comedy club expecting a gourmet kitchen so I didn't really have high hopes to begin with. We split the nachos and they were fine but all the beans were on one side of the plate and pretty much impossible to get on a chip because they kept breaking. I got a general tso chicken sandwich and my friend got a burger. I think the sandwich was fine. It was definitely a large piece of chicken and actually juicy, but the bread was super dry and overwhelming. My friend's burger was inedible and she actually ended up tossing it unfortunately. The brownie was huge but there was way too much ice cream on top and it led to the brownie getting hold and hard. The entire point of ice cream on a brownie is for the brownie to be warm... come on now. We didn't really care for it. I sipped on Shirley Temples all night and definitely recommend getting the souvenir cup as well. It's only $8 so I think it depends on how much you plan to be drinking your non-alcoholic beverage. The space is larger than I expected, but the stage is pretty small. Taking an additional star off for how the owner ran up on a girl wearing Meta glasses, got in her face, and demanded she take them off. I can't imagine a grown themselves forcing themselves into my space like that, and it made everyone in the crowd feel kinda weird. This is about the venue, not the act. The quality of the food is low. I didn't expect fine dining, but damn. I was served a very disappointing chicken and waffles that was two reheated tenders and two dry waffles in a basket with a little sealed plastic cup of corn syrup. Cost before tax: $14. My friend got a Bloody Mary which he said was one of the nastiest things he'd ever tasted. I will say the space was well set-up and run. It did not feel cramped and the energy of the crowd could shine through. The service staff were very polite and I was pretty impressed that they were able to keep track of all the tables. "We'll pay _you_ to be an anchor store." Welcome to the JCPenney of central Connecticut comedy. They had to take pretzels off the menu to appease the other anchor store. That Auntie Anne drives a hard bargain. Let's get serious now, folks. When you walk in, you're snaked around the bar, but if there's no line, you'll have to order from your seat, which is perfectly fine. The bartenders are quick and they make some great cocktails, though I was driving tonight and settled for Diet Coke. (Tip: get the souvenir glass, because it gives you unlimited refills. You start saving money on your second soda. They don't serve the drink in the glass, so you don't carry out a wet, sticky glass.) The food service, though, is like an uncomfortable joke. Do you laugh and enjoy, or squirm in your seat? I'm not sure. Our waitress promptly took our orders for an appetizer and two entrees, then came back with my girlfriend's entree two minutes later. It'd be another five minutes until her silverware came out, then twenty minutes until our appetizer came out; it traded table space with her empty bowl. I thought the lettuce on her salad looked very white, but it must have been the lighting, because she said it tasted fine. My chicken sandwich would take another ten minutes, and it looked sadder than a clown's funeral where even the priest didn't show up. When the waitress asked me if I wanted everything on it, I wasn't aware that "everything" was half a leaf of lettuce. Still, it was a thick, juicy piece of chicken that stayed crispy under all that sauce, though this General Tso's was all sugar and no spice, tasty but a tad disappointing. The guy should be demoted to Admiral. I was offered a side of fries, and I got served a basket big enough for two. The Funny Bone seasoning was a typical fry seasoning with quite the kick, and exactly what I needed after all that sugar -- like a spicy bit that makes the whole audience clap at once. Unfortunately, when the bill came, I found out that it wasn't a side included with the meal, but I'd been tricked into ordering a full-size basket. Still, for $8 split between two people, I'm not even mad. That seasoning is legendary. Too bad we didn't get ketchup enough for two people. I didn't think I'd have to order napkins à la carte. I guess the drink napkin is all you get. The venue was only half full, but they still shoehorned all of us into the front section for no good reason. We shared our small table with a nice older couple. They ordered dessert, and my eyes got to taste the Ultimate Brownie. I wouldn't say it was big, but it should have come with two more spoons and half of it on our bill! (They got napkins, though.). The only downside of the unnecessary cramped arrangement was that I spent the whole show either craning my neck to see the comedienne or staring at a weird lump on the back of some guy's head, wondering if I should tell him to see a dermatologist. Come to the Funny Bone for the comedy, have a drink or two. The food is hit or miss, between the kitchen bringing dishes out of order and the chefs' middling recipes. But hey, it's in a mall. But be forewarned, you will be sat with other people at a table big enough for one toddler to be served at. You will not fit four drinks and food comfortably. All of these small tables are crammed so close together. It truly is a safety hazard. And the chairs are facing away from the stage! So the entire time your head is turned! It's so uncomfortable. The chairs will make your butt sore. It's the most asinine set up I've ever seen. It's more comfortable and there's more room flying coach, in the middle seat, with both armrests taken. I really enjoyed the comedy show itself and they seem to have a good list of comédiens. I agree with reviews that food and drinks are way overpriced for what they are- burger bun tasted slightly stale and the burger meat tasted like a frozen patty vs something fresh- $14 for a burger and no side. They also automatically charge 18% gratuity (which is clear on the receipt), although service was okay it always irks me when there isn't a "no tip" option on a card reader when gratuity has already been charged. Parking is simple since it is in the mall, though agree with reviews the room can feel a bit tight with a lot of people, though I do think a smaller room in general makes for a more intimate comedy show. We were one of the 1st 3 groups to come in and be seated an hour before the show. our waitress took our order and we didn't even get our drinks for 45 minutes, and it was after 3/4 of the place had filled and 2 tables right next to us that had come in WAY LATER than us were served. One was a 2 top & one was a 6 top! There were only 3 of us. We ordered a fish sandwich with fries, Buffalo wings & 2 choc brownies. When my sandwich finally arrived 1 hour & 15 minutes later, it had no mayo, no tartar, no fries, no napkins, no silverware & the pickle was the skinniest sliver of a pickle with skin SO HARD it was completely unchewable! I knew I was going to enjoy the show BUT the wait on the line exceeded normal standards. The website said doors open at 5:30pm and the doors did not open until 6:15pm....that was a very long time. I did not try the food as I was nervous from the other reviews, so we ate before the show. I did order a drink and it was ok. Price was high but I expected that...$20 for a frozen puna colada and a bottled water. This review is not about the comedians or the entertainment, but strictly about the location itself. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The service was awful. On a busy Saturday night, there was only one bartender working, which resulted in drinks taking 30-40 minutes to arrive--even something as simple as a bottle of water didn't come out quickly. Our server even advised against ordering frozen drinks and food because of the staffing issue. The entry and exit process was just as frustrating. It was chaotic, poorly managed, and genuinely felt like a safety hazard with the way the crowd was handled. Doors opened at 8:30pm didn't get seated until after 9:30pm. Show was supposed to start at 9. Opening act jumped on stage at 10pm. Not a single employee came out to address the crowd of people on line apologizing for the delay or sharing what was happening. Thank goodness we had flexible childcare for the evening. Otherwise we would have needed to leave the show early. Overall, the lack of organization and poor service overshadowed the night. Comics were excellent but we got there early and made the mistake of sitting at the bar and ordered drinks from the laziest rudest bartender I have ever had the misfortune to come across. She's white with purple and white dreads. After taking my drink order my companion wasn't sure what she wanted, the bartender turned her back on us and never came back to take her order. The whole hour we were there she spent talking to the doorman while the other bartender hustled to take care of the customers. We were never offered a menu and never asked if we would like another drink. I might go back to see the show but I will never sit at the bar again. The show was absolutely amazing- and this is in no way a reflection of the performance. in fact, the performers are much more worthy of an upper scale venue. we had the WORST service- if you even want to call it that. our server was beyond rude, rolled her eyes when we asked for our missing food, and toldus it wouldcome out when it was ready and not all together. To say what she did was provide service is a literal joke- and the food- was worse than a McDonalds big breakfast- cold, and frozen food. Before anyone questions my standards- every person at my table of 7 was once a bartender- we love spending money on good food, service and entertainment and we ALWAYS tip ALOT....just ask the performers :). We are very forgiving of a bad day, or a quirky server- this was beyond that. As many have said this is about the staff and not the show. The comics are always great. I have been here about 6 times now in the last two years. Tonight was the worst. Our server had a serious attitude problem from the get-go. I will also add that even though she did not deserve a tip, I still gave her a 20% and she did not even say thank you. One person asked for a bottle or water, she did not get it until she was done eating. One person asked form lemon with her water and extra dressing for her salad. She never got either. A patron at another table even tried to get her attention and she ignored them too. When we finally asked her a third time after 15 minutes, she said "you'll get it when you get it" just in a nicer way, which like I said, we never got it. This is absolutely THE worst place I've ever wasted money on to see a comedy show! First of all they walk you in two people at a time like a kindergartner telling you all the rules and regulations. When they finally bring you to a table that is literally 24"×24" you will notice that there are already 2 people sitting there, and guess what????? YOU HAVE TO SIT WITH THEM! That's not even the bad part. Try fitting more than 2 drinks at that table, even though you figured you'd have a nice dinner and a show. Anyways short story long, when you get your food or appetizers.Finally, after an hour, you are literally piling your uneaten food on top of your new friends food because there's absolutely no room! After that horrific situation , we finally get the $237 bill and the only thing shown on there were 7 margaritas, they don't show what you ordered for food on purpose. I had an amazing time....after waiting an hour for the show that was supposed to start at 2. We also had "2 extra seats" at our table that was already full with our party of 6 bigger women (which even the smaller people were having this issue) we had 2 separate parties of 2 sat with us of which they were in the isle and had asked to be seated else where. A few of us had seen the headliner, Matt Kirshen, when he opened for Sarah Millican a few months ago. It was announced he'd be at Funny Bone.....so about 20 of us went to Funny Bone in Manchester CT last night. ALL OF US were very pleased: VIP seats....right next to the stage, or general seats just a few rows back. Criticisms about being squashed in and supper small tables TOTALLY INCORRECT. The GM was great in accommodating our large group....and we had bought tickets early (can't believe Matt K was not sold out....should have been.....) so Frederick helped up with 2 large tables held for us. (Maybe a sold out show would be more crowded??) Some folks got some snacks from FB and were pleased...."good, decent bar food". Getting there by about 6:20-6:40 as show started at 7:00 helped get orders in and very timely with orders. (lots of v. nice servers). Those who had drinks thought fair prices and fair pours. None of us agreed with the very derogatory reviews we had seen on FB site or Yelp. Location is inside the mall if you have trouble. Parking will not be an issue. Staff was nice and seated people quickly. Pros: the comedy was amazing by Trey Elliot and Tony Rock! Cons: the food! I want to call the health department because it tasted old and no care whatsoever went into it. It came out way too fast and was horrible! You figure you can't go wrong with chicken fingers..think again because they were super small, hard and looked like they were cooked in old oil. Ihop is better than this!! Eat before you come. Cool set up for a comedy show. High expectations when the line is going out the door to get in for a recent show. Service is extremely slow. I always thought comedy clubs either had a drink minimum or just straight up wanted to get you to buy lots of drinks but at the Funny Bone the drinks are hard to come by! Even water! It legit took an hour into our set to get drinks! I ordered a dirty Shirley and it was extremely weak- I almost asked the waitress if she gave me a virgin drink because all there seemed to be in it was grenadine. We were given the bill right after our first drink. Not like we would have been able to have a second drink DURING the show anyways. I wouldn't even attempt the food here as people were served AFTER the show ended. The floors are EXTREMELY sticky by the way- don't wear shoes you care about getting dirty. The bar looked dirty even when the place just opened. Overall I would not come here again unless someone I REALLY wanted to see was performing. So sad because this place has a lot of potential! Funny Bone Comedy Club & Restaurant is a comedy club inside of Buckland Hills Mall. I've gone here many times through the years, and I've always received complimentary tickets. I've got a few issues with this establishment. First, it is so full of people, that you cannot sit comfortably. Someone was literally touching the back of my neck during the show, that is how packed this place is. They placed my friend and I, and a couple at a very small table intended for two. The man sitting opposite of me, had his legs stretched out under the table. I had no place to put my legs, so I sat sideways, I was constantly a tripping hazard to the waitstaff trying to get by. This is just an example of how disorganized and overly packed this place is. I've never been impressed by their food. My friend got sweet potato fries for us to share. I got a Milky Way Martini. The fries were pretty good, they took a long time to bring me my drink, I thought it was forgotten. It was fine, this is not the place that will craft your cocktail to perfection. Typically there are three comedians in a show. The host, the opener and the headliner. On my most recent visit to the Funny Bone, the headliner was Pablo Fransisco. I've seen him on his own specials on YouTube before. I've found that the opener, who actually gets the least stage time, is the funniest. This time I wasn't impressed by Pablo Francisco. I've also noticed so many of the comedians will make comments about how they're in the mall when the mall is shut down. This is so over used that it isn't at all funny any more. I do wish they would change the location of this club so it's not inside of a shopping mall. You're guaranteed to laugh at at least one of the three comedians. I wish I could remember the name of the funniest guy, but he looked like Jack Black. My friend ordered a drink during the show, they brought it out to her, when the show was over and everyone is leaving. They also automatically charge you tip. I've never been a fan of this, especially considering the very poor service. This is a great time to catch a comedy show or two . Prices are just right and the place itself is fantastic. The servers are friendly and quick . The place is clean and spacious. The food is really good and the drinks. I had a great experience last night while attending the Michael Blackson show! Our server for the night (Shannon) worked hard and was very attentive to our whole section . We got every single request promptly and the view to the stage was perfect. I wish there was a way to give negative stars. I never trash a business but this place is just begging to get trashed and it looks like most people who review them would agree. I don't know which was worse, the terrible service? (worst service I've ever had), the terrible food? (worst food I've ever had), the warm beer (warmest bottle of beer I've ever been served), the terrible management (never saw any sign of a manager in a full house that was clearly struggling), the failure of the kitchen to send out everyone's meals combined with the failure of 3 different servers to rectify the problem when it became clear that we weren't ever going to see our waiter again combined with the kitchen actually closing and one of our party never getting her food... There's a word for this type of operation. It rhymes with ducks and an honest review would include it, but I'm not sure if Yelp standards would allow it. Seriously, I've been going to various clubs, bars, restaurants etc all over the world for decades. I'm positive that this will be the worst experience I'll ever had. They did nothing right. What a good time!! There's not many places to go out for apps and drinks that include entertainment here in Connecticut. This was an all around great experience. A couple of coworkers and I decided we needed a night out. We work weekends and still had to get up early the next day, so this honestly was perfect for us in every way. The shows arrival time was 7pm and the show started at 730pm. When we arrived there was absolutely no wait on a Friday evening which was great! There was a temperature check and ID check at the door which made me feel safe. The bar was the first thing we saw as soon as we walked in. Grabbing a drink and settling in was exactly what we were looking for too. We got seated and there was a card on the table with a scan option to look up the menu on our phone which was super convenient. As we browsed the apps and additional drink options there was a screen on stage playing some reels of previous comedians that kept us entertained before the show started. We ordered a few things to share which included buffalo chicken tenders, chicken quesadilla, and these yummy bbq chicken loaded nachos which were my favorite. The timing of the show was very prompt and its started exactly at 7:30pm. There were 2 others comedians that performed before the main act. The headliner was Maija Digiorgio. She was hilarious and we ended up cracking up the whole time and letting loose until the show ended at around 9:30pm. Honestly the timing was the best thing for us. We were able to have so much fun eating, drinking and being entertained but still able to go home at a reasonable time for bed. We can't wait for the next act! read more

A colleague invited me to see D.L Hughley with him for a Friday show at the Funny Bone. This was my second time there so I forgot how the set-up was. We got there at 6pm for the 7:30pm show. Safe to say I was not a happy camper as we waited around for 1.5 hours. I guess it worked out in the end because we wanted to sit at the lower level close to the stage and the venue fills up quickly. Since I had 1.5 hours to burn, I figured I should get something to eat. The menu was limited and quite sub-par. There was a lack of would be tasty vegetarian options so I ended up with a pescatarian option of the blackened salmon with broccoli & mashed potatoes as my side options. The food was not much to vaunt about. I should have eaten prior. I knocked a star off for that. As for the show, I had a really good time. The first two acts were great and D.L was also really good. The crowd was energetic and the wait-staff was not overly intrusive during the show so we got to enjoy it with minimal interruptions. However, I knocked another star off due to the seats. They are NOT comfortable and with such lambent lighting, the seats should be comfy and relaxing. All in all, they have great acts that come by so it's worth checking them out. read more

Had an absolutely wonderful time with my wife and son. Comedians were hilarious and servers were friendly. So why only 3 stars?... We arrived early (2024 03 02, first show). We were literally the first ones. We stood at the door where a young lady told us they'd be opening the doors soon. Once allowed to enter, the host stated they were not seating immediately, but people could sit at the bar and order drinks. We decided to maintain our first position, because we wanted first pick of seats, for a maximized enjoyment of the experience. Moments before we were going to be told we could enter, the young lady who had seen us standing in line for at least 30 minutes noticed my wife was holding a bag from the store Forever 21. She told my wife that outside bags were not allowed in the club. She had almost 30 minutes to tell me this and allow me time to run to the car. I inquired as to why would they not allow a small bag from a store that was in the same mall, directly across from the club. I asked, what if we came on public transportation? I told her she could look in the bag to verify this was an item purchased in the mall. She left to speak with the manager, but when she returned, she stated that we could "leave it at the bar, but we're not responsible for it." That was unacceptable to me. Who'd want to leave a brand new item of clothing up at a bar where people spill things, and the condition of the item would not be protected? So I took the bag and made a mad dash in the rain to my car to secure the item. I returned before the doors opened, but when they finally did, the hosts allowed the bar patrons in first, effectively allowing 20 to 30 people to cut in front of us, derailing our efforts to get our preferred choice of seating. I mentioned this to the young gentleman at the door, who did not even look in my direction, much less provide me with an answer. We were seated at a tiny table and packed in like sardines, where a woman at the adjacent table and I exchanged elbow jabs all night. Once seated, we ordered wings and fries to share as appetizers, then a burger, salad, and chicken sandwich as dinners. All three of us had soft drinks. I was shocked to see the bill was $112.00, which included the 18% gratuity built in to the price. I found this amount to be exorbitant for the quality of the food, and I never enjoy having the power of leaving a gratuity stripped from me. The irony is I would have given the servers the 20% I usually leave for good service, which they did provide, so effectively, the servers lost out in my case, because I wasn't going to leave an additional 2% on the bill. All in all, our experience with the entertainment was awesome, but management should consider allowing fewer customers in and suck it up a little on costs to make the stay more comfortable. read more

Horrible service, I visited from out of town in March and I don't know where to start. First off the food is trash and tastes like it is heated up in a microwave and bought in instant meal packs from a supermarket. If you like to drink alcoholic beverages at a comedy show, then this is not the place. The drinks here are all watered down and pretty much juice. If that wasn't enough let me tell you more about my experience. Not only did the staff mess up my order by providing me with a watered down Margarita when I ordered a Long Island ice tea. I told one of the waiters about it and didn't want to make a big deal because I was almost finished the drink. I told them specifically that I only wanted to bring it to his attention and I didn't want another drink. Without me asking the waiter brought me a Long Island iced tea which also was watered down but I figured it was complimentary. When I checked my receipt, to my surprise, the staff charged me for both drinks though I never asked for the second drink which is the Long Island. I merely wanted to let the staff member know that they had messed up my order and to be more mindful in the future. I complained about it to a Caucasian woman who appeared to be a head waitress that night. I glanced at the waiter who served me and informed him what had happened and all he could say was sorry and give me a look that it was out of his hands. I then asked to speak to the supervisor and instead of allowing me the opportunity to speak to the supervisor, they provided a small discount of a few dollars. With that said come for the comedy, it was a great comedy show due to the talent that performed but don't ever go here expecting good food or drinks. The staff here is horrible as well and unpleasant. I love CT but I can't say I will support this business on any subsequent trips I take to the state which is dreadful because a lot of good talent comes here. read more
