The Food: My brother-in-law and I both had the Mariner Sandwich, which had fish cooked to absolute perfection and fresh vegetables. My sister had a quesadilla and commented it was the absolute best she's ever had here. We also split the spring rolls--they were crispy and so good! The Service: Bartender Edin took excellent care of us. He was professional, knowledgeable, incredibly kind, and his sense of humor was absolutely stellar. The Ambiance: Typical bar at Happy Hour. For the longest I've avoided this restaurant due to the food not being so great (different location), but decided to give it another try after a round of mini golf. It was a Saturday afternoon so it wasn't really busy. Our waiter Edin was great. He answered our many questions and offered recommendations. Drinks were great. We went the mocktail route. No complaints. For apps, we did the spinach and artichoke dip. This was very very cheesy. At first that sounds great but as it cooled it congealed. It did not heat up well the next day. Main course we both did burgers. Bacon cheese and the Bison burger with fries. Best part of the meal. I don't typically get burgers but glad I did. It was delicious. UPDATE: i came back, and it was 100 times better than last time! the exact same ambiance that i loved. our server, olivia, was a GEM. i wish every server was like her. Please update online ordering! You have a lot of Gluten Free options and a dedicated gluten free fryer. You have fried chicken that is GF on your menu in restaurant but doesn't state it online. You also have GF buns, but I can't get the French dip with a GF bun, like I can in the restaurant. You also don't allow notes, so I marked gluten allergy, which was right on the receipt with the order. And it came on a regular bun! At least the fries are GF, minus the cross contamination it got from being in the same box as the gluten bread. I love that you all are trying. Just can do so much better. After 40+ check in, i thought it time to update my review. I never sit in the dining room so all my reviews arre for the bar area. Whether the bartender is Tristan, V or Alissa, the service is always great. They have a special NFL menu and the island chicks are great (spicy chicken with slaw) so we keep on going during football games and hope they will add them to the permanent menu when the football season is over. Instead of getting french fries all the time, the $ 2 up charge to get Brussel sprouts as a side is well worth it; served with pickled onions and a lite balsamic glaze. I have been to many wood n tap before however my first time at the newington location. And I must say my experience here has by far been the best ! We walked in for happy hour on a Monday, the restaurant is newer, nice and very clean with comfortable seating. Pretty quiet since it was a Monday. We were happily greeted with a smile by the welcome host and walked us to the table even though we were just going to the bar area which was refreshing. Our waiter was phenomenal, he went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and answered all questions and gave us extra tips on getting the app and how to get rewards. (Which I didn't even know they had since no ones mentioned it before). The happy hour ( aka tappy hour) was great I got the cosmo which was perfection ! My husband got his usual old fashion which he enjoyed . We ordered the pretzel with honey mustard . You get 3 soft and warm pretzels served with a delicious honey mustard sauce (and I normally hate mustard.. but this sauce was more creamy and sweeter than normal honey mustard which I enjoyed). The nachos were amazing ! It could have used a little more chicken but other than that very filling , lots of cheese , topped with lettuce salsa , sour cream and jalapeños. I went here on a Tuesday night and was immediately sat in the dining room, which I was thankful for because trivia was in the bar room. The place was clean and well decorated. So it's appropriate that my first visit to this WNT in my Yelp review era was with my son and we ordered Beef Nachos and Bar Bites. This was a good visit. The inside of this WNT with its high ceilings, strands of lights, textured floor and stylish seating is cool. Service was friendly and efficient. The Beef nachos and small Bar Bites were both good. I'm combining two review into one! I guess if I went back twice within the space of a month it means that I really liked the food. My first visit my steak was overcooked. Nevertheless, I told my server and they remade my dish. Otherwise , from that the food was delicious! They redeemed themselves! The Newington Wood-n-Tap is our favorite location. The restaurant is large with a bar area, outdoor seating (when the weather is nice), and dining room. We like to sit in the dining room because the seating are booths and more private. Also, the vibe is very cool with the decor, dark wood, and low-lighting. The staff is always friendly too. Our food was delicious! We started with the warm Crab Dip that came with pita chips. It was a generous bowl of dip with large pieces of crab. From the seasonal menu, we got the Short Rib Tacos and Pan-Seared Tuna. We also got the Short Rib Grilled Cheese. Everyone enjoyed their food, it was filling and flavorful. I had the tuna and the mushroom risotto it came with was my favorite part. We were very full from dinner, but we took 2 pieces of their Famous Pumpkin Pie to-go. This was my first time at this location, but I've been to WNT many times before. While our waitress was good, the food was terrible. I ordered one of my favorite items off the menu, the chop house steak salad. I asked for my steak to be cooked well done, no pink. When my dish arrived the meat was rare, so I had to send it back. When my salad finally arrived again, my meat was charred, and crunchy. The salad itself was extremely soggy and inedible. I gave up. This was my first time at this location, and I was thoroughly impressed. This place is ginormous! There is so much seating availability indoors and out. The parking lot was shared with other businesses but was huge. They had a tented area in the parking lot as well as a beautiful decorated patio outside. Inside, the bar was lit up and filled with bartop booths and chairs. I went to use the restroom to wash my hands before eating and nearly got lost. There were 2 separate dining halls and another room for private parties. I headed back to my table, and the server offered all the new spring drinks. I ordered the dragonfruit sangria. It was a red wine spitzer mix with raspberry flavors. For an appetizer, we started off with the loaded beef nachos. They were filled with beef, cheese, blackbeans, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, and salsa. (I asked for no jalapeños) They were delicious. For my meal, I had the hickory burger. It was served with cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce, and frizzeled onions with a side of tator tots. We went to the Vernon wooden tap this past Saturday. It was some of the worst food that I've ever had. I had a cheeseburger and french fries everything came out cold. They're remodeling in a place so there's no decent place to sit. We were sitting in a booth right next to the outside door when it was windy and everything And about froze to death I would never recommend this place to anyone at least one in Vernon. My party of 2 were seated in the bar at a 4 person table. In my opinion, the tables were too close for comfort, regardless of covid. You're definitely not having a private conversation, no matter how low you talk. The pleasant waitress took the drink orders & gave us more time with the menu. I ordered the spicy guava rita. Which was delicious enough to order 2. The drinks returned quickly & our food orders were taken. I ordered the fish wrap with fries. Again, not much time went by before the food came. I wasn't impressed by the amount of fries on my metal plate/tray. Additionally, I hate when restaurants portion control the ketchup. The wrap...I could see it mainly contained lettuce. I think they rolled 1 fish stick up in the wrap. Nevertheless, I ate everything. I know I'll be back in the distant future, but not anytime soon & it'll likely be a friend's choice. This is one of my favorite places and never seems to disappoint. The level of options is great. The quality of food and portions for the price are unbeatable. This location has the option of indoor seating, bar seating, or outside for those that can handle the heat in the summer. Parking is easy. Staff is friendly. I usually have a great experience here but today was an exception. The place was busy so my water was never refilled. The server was pleasant enough, just over worked I guess. Now, my main reason for such a low score: Me, my wife and my daughter all ordered steak, all medium rare, we received one well done, one medium rare and one medium. My daughter ate her well done steak and I sent my medium back. I received a medium rare grissaly, fatty tough piece of meat that I am surprised qualified as a NY strip steak. The only part of the meal that I felt was acceptable were the brussel sprouts, they were exceptional. The atmosphere was nice, but I disliked the flimsy tan pleather chair that felt .... Well flimsy.
