Came here on a busy Saturday night and was impressed with how fast and efficient the service was. I got one scoop of banana ice cream in a cone, but it felt more like three generous scoops for just $5 which is affordable for an ice cream shop. The banana flavor was fresh and fruity. If you drive, like we did, there's a private parking lot behind the building with a decent amount of spots. The shop seems like it's almost always packed, when we went there was a line out the door. The line however is a bit confusing/disorganized, as there's not a lot of space for people to wait for their food after ordering. There also don't seem to be enough employees for the amount of demand during the summer. Still, the staff that helped us out were super kind and made everything quickly for us. We ordered a swirl soft serve with chocolate sprinkles, which was decently sized. The ice cream itself wasn't the best ever, but it was tasty and hit the spot. I love you Twist & Shake, un-cone-ditionally!! This summer, I had no other craving except for a waffle cone of coffee cookies and cream ice cream from Twist & Shake. There's something about the temperature of the ice cream here that makes it so devour-able and pleasant. There is never freezer burn on the ice cream and all the toppings are super fresh!! Twist & Shake exclusively carries Richardson's ice cream. They don't have all the flavors offered compared to going directly to Richardson's, but I don't really mind cause I only care about the coffee cookies and cream and the Kahlua brownie! Get these flavors- you won't regret it!! This location is unfortunately closed for the (winter) season and will reopen when the weather is warmer but their Winthrop location stays open all year round. In the summertime, expect a LONG line. But it is worth the wait- TRUST ME! One scoop here is all I need because the one scoop here is a humongous one. So much value for the reasonable price they charge for ice cream on the beach. The inside of this ice cream shop is charming; with pink and purple colored walls and hand written menu boards. There aren't many seats inside but why would you want to sit inside when you can bring your ice cream just a few steps away to enjoy on the beach?! Most of the employees here seem to be students who work part-time in the summer and in my interactions with them, all seem to be pretty friendly. 10/10 recommend! read more

Bring along those elastic pants for a delightful visit to Twist & Shake. With too many flavors, hard and soft serve, you could order something different for a month and not expire the choices. Sure you'd be somewhere in the three-bills weight range by month-end, but you'd have gotten there in a blaze of creamy glory! It's gonna be all-cream, all the time. Greeted with a "what'll you have handsome" as I stepped into the ring (aw you're just saying that to make me feel bettah), I resisted the urge for stage fright. "Two scoops. Scoop One: blackberry. Scoop two: coconut. Waffle cone." My night quickly was headed south as I heard "we don't have any waffle cones left do we?" It was almost too much to bear. "I can take a cup instead", meekly, all hope lost. But then from the ice cream ashes, a glimmer of hope from the girl in the back: "I think we have one more." Jackpot, somebody go take a chance because You can ride my last-waffle-cone luck all the way to the bank. I happily traded too much money for this beautiful stack of pointy-bottomed goodness and left before anybody saw there were no more waffles. Oh I almost forgot, they have a wide selection of hard and soft-serve, along with frappes, floats, sundaes, boats. I came with my friend on a Sunday afternoon for a sweet treat. There was a really long line when we arrived. I ordered an Italian ice with watermelon, lemon, and blue raspberry. It was one of the yummiest things I've ever had! The fruity flavors tastes so delicious together! I could've happily eaten 3 more servings of my order! The service was quick, despite being stuck in a really long line. They took our orders ahead of time so it was ready by the time we got to the register. I tried the pistachio and it was absolutely fabulous how they make it basically they pump out a little vanilla into a container they bring it over to another machine they add the flavoring and color and then they refill the cone absolutely delicious. As for the views you're on Americas first public beach which is also the most crescent shape beach in the country naturally so you will have fantastic views. As for parking that's another thing if it's a hard day on the beach good luck. This is located a half a block from the revere Beach train station directly on revere Beach Boulevard. I do have to mention they have all kinds of hard ice cream also they all look fabulous I'm definitely going back and trying a few more. The ice cream had no flavour except for the flavour of the fridge - you know when you leave things uncovered in the fridge and it develops the flavour of the fridge air? - that's what I mean. I've never had bad or flavourless ice cream until now. I suppose their flavours here can either be a hit or a miss and vary on freshness. The waffle cone was also the worst I've ever had. It also tasted like nothing - not even sweet. No buttery or saltiness to it (which you can tell by the light color of the cone) and made with no love. Twist & Shake has REALLY great soft serve and huge portions for low prices! I came here with friends for a sweet treat after visiting Revere Beach in the afternoon. There was a long line, but the wait wasn't more than 10 minutes. I got the a soft serve strawberry/chocolate swirl in a sugar cone, and the kiddie size was already several inches tall!!! The soft serve was flavorful and refreshing, you get a lot for what you pay for. (helpful tip: I'd recommend getting their ice cream in the waffle cone, because their servings are so large that the ice cream will melt too fast and drip down the cone.) The only MINOR downside of this place is that there were no hot dogs, even though it was stated on the menu. I saw in another Yelp review that this place had the best hot dogs they'd tried, so I was a little disappointed. But most people come here for ice cream :) read more

I'm not gonna pretend the ice cream at Twist & Shake is on par with that of other Boston area favorites such as Christina's, Toscanini's, or J.P. Licks in terms of complexity or depth of flavor, but the fact that you can get a banana split the size of a baby elephant there for the price of a small one topping sundae at Tosci's is enough reason to go there every time you visit Revere Beach. Although pretty standard, the ice cream certainly hits the spot, ESPECIALLY when buried beneath a layer of peanut butter sauce, coconut flakes, whipped cream, and crunchy pieces of God only knows what.
